HT4259 I am trying to connect airport express to extend the range of my airport tower. What type of cords do I need to connect the airport express to a hardwired outlet in the wall of a bedroom?

I am trying to connect my airport express to extend the range of my network to a bedroom that is hard wired for internet. What type of cord/cords do I need to do that?

You can connect the AirPort Express to the wall port in the bedroom for the setup.....but first....if you have not already done so.....it would be a great idea to make sure that the connection in the bedroom is working correctly.
To do that, turn off the wireless on a laptop and connect the laptop directly to the wall port in the bedroom using an Ethernet cable. Make sure that the laptop can get a good Internet connection that way.  If it can, this tells you that the cabling is working correctly, so the Express will work well when you connect it up.
If you don't have a laptop with an Ethernet port, then we'll have to assume that the folks that pulled the cables and installed the jacks tested things as part of the installation.
When you are ready to install the Express, you can use an iPhone or iPad if you have one handy for the setup.

Assuming that your cable modem has Gigabit Ethernet ports (possible, but it probably does not) Cat 5e or Cct 6 would do the job that you need.
If the cable modem is using a 10/100 Mbps port, then Cat5 will be OK.

  • What type of cable do I need to connect my mac to the TV.

I have a Dynex tv and a newish 15 inch Macbook Pro. I also already have an HDMI cable that fits into the TV so I just need to know what to get to connect the HDMI cable to the macbook.

You would  connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Here's the various types of Mini DisplayPort adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_2_16?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mini+ displayport&sprefix=mini+displayport&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amini+displayport
If it's a post 2010 MacBook Pro it will carry audio through the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. If it's an earlier than Mid 2010 MacBook pro then it can't send audio through the adapter.

  • What type of repeater should I use with my new Airport Extreme?

what type of repeater should I use with my new Airport Extreme? Thanks.

If you want to repeat both bands of your dual band AirPort Extreme, another AirPort Extreme would meet these requirements.
If you only need to extend one of the bands that the AriPort Extreme provides, then an Airport Express would do that nicely.

what type of modem do i need for time capsule. I can't get it to pick up the net

    Simply bridge the TC..
With DSL you need to either bridge the modem and use PPPoE client which can be difficult to setup.. especially as some modems do not bridge readily..
Or bridge the TC which is simple.. go to the airport utility and select internet page, on v5 utility or network page on v6 utility and select off-bridged mode for the mode of connection.

  • What type of screwdriver do I need to install AirPort/Bluetooth Card  A1126

My airport extreme card was causing kernel panics, and I discovered one antenna wire was unplugged, but without unscrewing the card, I'm unable to plug the antenna back in. My question is what type of screwdriver do I need to unscrew the card? I have a 17" iMac G5 without the built in iSight and the layout is exactly like the one pictured in this DIY guide : http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacG517inchharddrive.pdf
Thanks for any help you can provide! :-D

Thank you for the link, but they only list a DIY install guide for the original iMac G5. My airport/bluetooth card is very similar/almost exact to the card found in the iSight iMac G5s.
My logic board layout looks exactly like this http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacg517inch_PowerSupply.pdf as opposed to http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacG517inchAirPort.pdf where the airport card is much larger and doesn't require a special screwdriver for replacement. I'm not really in need of install instructions, but rather what specific screwdriver/allen wrench is needed to get the card off the board.
thank you guys for any info you can provide...

I want to use the Web module to publish to the a website... What kind of server do I need to be able to publish my website?

You don't need a server, you just need a web hosting package such as the ones from GoDaddy or many other hosts. You then send the web gallery directly from LR to your web space.

On top of that my Mac keeps telling me my start up disc is full and I am deleting stuff like crazy!

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums
It won't be a problem if you delete your extra copies.
I don't download very much to my tv, I do sometimes if I'm in bed but usually I do it from itunes. However if you have not fully downloaded something to the tv it is possible to start the download from itunes as well, you have likely activated 'check for downloads fin itunes in some way, could be by opening itunes, selecting 'check or downloads' from the advanced menu or that you simply have automatically check for downloads set in your prefs and it has checked coincidentally.

  • I have an airport extreme and am trying to extend the range of the wireless network with an airport express.  I set it up with the help of apple support, both lights are green on both airports, but the range didn't change.  What could be wrong?

I am trying to extend the range of my wireless network by adding an airport express to an airport extreme.  I configured it with the help of apple support, but it hasn't changed the range that I can access the internet wirelessly in my house.  What could be the problem?  Does weather affect the wireless network??

So, on the Extreme you checked the box to "allow this network to be extened" ?
    Correct?
And on the Express, you set it up to "Extend a wireless network" ?
    Correct?
See this Apple article and see if you missed anything...

Set up: Components of an extended network
➊  Primary Wi-Fi base station (this is the base station connected directly to the Internet)
    ➋  Extended base station
    Configuring a wireless extended network
To create a wireless extended network, you must place any extended Wi-Fi base stations within range of the primary Wi-Fi base station.
Start with the device that will be configured as the primary Wi-Fi base station.  Then configure your extended Wi-Fi base stations, ensuring that each is within direct range of the primary Wi-Fi base station. The physical location of extended Wi-Fi base stations will vary according to the building environment and may require some experimentation.
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.

  • Airport Express to extend wireless range?

Just received an Airport Express for Christmas and wanted to use it to extend my wireless range. I have an Asante FR1004AL wireless router connected via ethernet to DSL modem and a Titanium Powerbook using OS 10.3.9 and an original Airport card. I am interested in finding out how to make the AX extend the wireless connection, when I plug it n all I get is a flashing amber light and can't access the Asante via Airport Assistant to make any adjustments. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if the AX will recognize the Asante router since I can't make it work. If the Asante is compatible, I guess I need some instructions about how to get the AX to work with this setup. I have no experience with wireless setups, very much a novice in this area.

The only way you can extend the wireless range is to run an Ethernet cable to the Airport Express and set what's called "active roaming" (see Apple's Knowledge Base; search for "active roaming").
In order to extend the range strictly wirelessly, you need a base station that supports the flavor of Wireless Distribution System (WDS) that Apple uses in their base stations. As far as I know, only Apple Airport Extreme/Express base stations, LinkSys WRT54G, certain Buffalo Technology models, and one Belkin model support a compatible WDS protocol.

  • Airport Express to Extend Network Range

Hi everyone, hope somebody can help me out with this.
I have an airport express which I had been using as a wireless router. It worked fine although the range wasn't all that good, so I got a new Linksys wireless router and installed it in the living room. I was planning on using the airport express to extend the Linksys range by plugging the airport express to the power in my bedroom.
Anybody know how I can make that work without having to plug the ethernet cable into the airport express??
    Thanx

david_neg, Welcome to the discussion area!
I agree with Niel. You might be able to get it to work if the router is a Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not latest versions v5). If you are using something else the chances of working are near zero.
