HT4259 I don't have AirPort Utility on my Windows 7 laptop.
I have a Netgear Extender located in the middle of my house to take my WIFI signal to the far end of the building. I can log in using my IPhone or iPad but I cannot open FaceBook or Netflix on either device when I am in the far end of the building depending on the extended network. Any ideas on how I can fix this so I can use all the aps on my Apple devices?
The articles sent to me by Apple support gave instructions for using the AirPort utility but I don't have this on my laptop.

It sounds like you still need to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6.1 for Windows on the PC

Install Airport Utility on a Windows Vista PC
I try to install Airport Utility on a Windows Vista laptop but the Windows installer stops and says that the Administrator of the laptop has not authorised installing software. I am the Administrator myself, and I can install other software, so how can I solve this?

I have an older Airport Extreme (disc shaped) that we use with my wife's PowerBook (OS 10.5.8) and my MacBook Pro (OS 10.9.4). We currently only have Airport Utility on her Mac, but I want to upgrade the utility so I can use it on mine. Which version of the utility will work on my MacBook, and still control the older Airport Extreme?
if I update the Airport to the latest version, and "control" it with my MacBook Pro, will the older G4 still be able to use the signal from the new Airport?
Yes. Your G4 shouldn't have any difficulty connecting to a Wi-Fi network provided by the latest 802.11ac AirPorts as they support the earlier radio modes that the G4 uses. -
On my Mac Mini, I keep getting this error message: "iCloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the server". I don't have any problems with iCloud on my laptop / PC. It works fine... Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Your Mac must be on Lion (10.7) to run iCloud. Apple had to change the operating system to fully support it. Nevertheless, it is possible to get emails from iCloud without having Lion. Please tell me if this interests you.

With Airport Utility ver 6.1 can't see printers or hard drives. Dont' even see where to go for those screens. Was much easier in earlier versions. Question: How do I setup ext hard drives and printers in ver 6.1?
You don't need to "see" the printer for it to operate correctly using AirPort Utilty 6.1. If the printer was previously installed, it should continue to operate correctly. If you have a new printer, just install the device according to the manufacturers's instructions.
As far as being able to "see" a disk in AirPort Utility 6.1. Try the following:
Open AirPort Utility, click on the AirPort device, then click Edit in the next box that appears.
Click the Disks tab at the top of the setup window. -

How can I download airport utility for my windows computer?
I have been unable to find the airport utility to download it. I can not, for some reason, get the download window to load. It just sits there with a spinning wheel in the center of the screen. Where can I find the airport utility for the new airport extreme?

Why does itunes keep saying I don't have enough memory on my windows 8.1
When I am trying to download new songs, import a CD or trying to watch a TV segment on I tunes on my Samsung Laptop computer for Windows 8.1 and I keep getting messages saying I don't have enough memory and I also keep receiving messages that I'm not connected to the internet when I am. I have unplugged and replugged my connection but it keeps happening, I have checked for updates but don't need to, and have tried to troubleshoot it. When I went on line I kept being told this is an apple or i tunes problem. Please help
Do you back up to iCloud? I'm assuming so since you asked about purchasing more storage.

I want to change my iCloud account. Buying iPad we gave a virtual (forwarding) email address.
We need to change to a real address.
But when we try to change the iCloud account, we can only change the password.

Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple, Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too. -
Airport Extreme disconnects wireless Windows 7 laptop
I have an Airport Extreme (both antennas enabled) and multiple Windows 7 laptops regularly lose connectivity to the base station. When the connectivity is lost, I can switch from one antenna band to the other (B/G to N or vice versa) to reconnect, and it'll work fine again for a period of time (sometimes 20 minutes, sometimes 3 hours). I do often notice connectivity disconnects when doing Lync VoIP, but not exclusively. Sometimes I'll be surfing the web, etc.
The base station is running 7.6, and I've reproduced this with 7.5.x as well. Multiple Windows machines show this behavior (Lenovo and HP I've tested). I've updated wireless drivers on the Windows machines. I can't reproduce this over a wired connection.
I have a Macbook Air that I so far haven't seen this issue on, and I don't recall seeing my connection reset on my iPad as I surf.
I did notice a couple lines in the log file of the base station:
Severity 5: (WAN) link state is down.
then 7 seconds later
Severity 5: (WAN) link state is up.
I assume my internet provider is working fine because I can very quickly switch from one antenna band to the other and get my network service working again.
I found this thread, but it isn't clear if there is a modem problem because I can't reproduce this when connected to the AE via ethernet.
Any suggestions on how to better troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

You will need to use a Mac running Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion or Lion to administer the newer "ac" AirPorts.......or.....an iPad or iPhone with AirPort Utility for iOS installed on the device. -

I recently purchased an Airport Extreme Base Station. It needs to be set up for s set of students in an apartment. The connection is a DSL modem(?) via a static IP address. We managed to get it all setup and working with an Apple iBook, the wireless connection worked fine with the iBook, able to get at www.google.com etc. But the Windows XP laptops don't seem to work. They claim the signal strength is too low (they are within 2 feet of each other). When we initially set it up we used WPA personnel with a password, but the Windows laptop said something about a WEP 40 or 108bit key or password? So we switched the Airport Base Station to WEP... But no combination seems to work for the Windows laptops.
I had assumed that the Airport Base Station could provide wireless service to Windows XP machines. The laptops might be 1 yesr old? So it's not old equipment.
Are there some tricks or current issues with Windows XP getting wireless connections to Airport Base Stations?

For a Windows XP laptop to use WPA, not only must you be using SP2 your hardware must also support WPA.
So we switched
the Airport Base Station to WEP... But no
combination seems to work for the Windows laptops.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.
