HT4262 Is there any way to extend my Apple Extreme Base Station using an Apple Express by via ethernet or does it only work via wifi and being in range?
From what I read, the only way to extend my Apple Wifi Network is via another Apple Airport Extreme or Express using overlapping wifi zones. If I try to connect my Apple Express to my Apple Extreme via Ethernet, then this is guaranteed to fail regardless of how I configure the Express. Is that correct?
It is certainly possible and better....in terms of performance.....to connect the AiPort Express to your AirPort Extreme using Ethernet to extend the network that way.
If you are having problems with this, then your setup is not correct....or....if your setup is correct, you may have a defective AirPort.
We can walk you through the steps to get things set up correctly if we can get some basic information to provide the correct settings.
What is the model number of the AirPort Extreme?
What is the model number of the AirPort Express?
if you are not sure, look on the bottom of the Extreme and side or bottom of the Expess. The model number starts with an "A" followed by four numbers.
We also need to know what operating system you are using on your computer. If you have a Mac, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About This Mac and post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.
We will likely have more questions about your current setup to understand things a bit better, so please be patient.

NickUnfortunately there is no "forecast" feature for trendlines in Numbers. Wayne showed how to use the trendline equation from the chart to create additional data points for the chart. This is by far the simplest way to do it in Numbers but it has two drawbacks:
If your data changes, you'll need to manually readjust the coefficients for your forecasted point(s).
The precision of the coefficients is only three decimal places. The forecasted Y values using these coefficients might not be as accurate as you would like. For example, compare the forecasted Y value in Wayne's table at X=20 to the one in the table below.
You can avoid both problems by calculating the trendline coefficients in your table using the LINEST function. it is a little more work in the setup but it might save you time in the long run if your data changes a lot. Here is an example of for 2nd order polynomial:

F2 = the coefficient for X^2 =INDEX(LINEST(B2:B10,D2:E10),1)

Note: If you later need to add an additional data point at the end of your data, go to the last row of your data (in this example it is row 10) and "add row below". This way the formulas for the coefficients will adjust automatically to include the new row. -

Is there any way to extend the spin time?
I'm retrieving heaps of old jobs from archived CDs and DVDs and what's becoming apparent is the time the CD/DVD is spinning. I can understand saving energy etc, but it's not very long at all, which means I've been spending about 3 or 4 seconds per job, waiting for the disc to spin up. Times that over the hundred+ jobs I've got, and it'll add up.. Is there any way to extend the spin time to something more like 30 seconds, or something else?

The only thing you could try is to deselect the "spin down hard disk's when possible" option in the energy saver System Pref's. I doubt this will provide much success, but its worth a shot.

If you all have individual Apple IDs, then you would be able to dowload music from a shared iTunes library on a computer, but you would not be able to sign on each individual ID on an iOS device in order to download music purchased under the original Apple ID without a 90-day waiting period between sign-ons.
Here's what I mean:
If you were to sign on a new Apple ID on, say, an iPhone, and then were to purchase and download some music from iTunes, then you would have to wait 90 days before you could sign on the old Apple ID to that iPhone in order to download previously purchased material (and vice versa).
However, if all of the music purchased by that origjnal Apple ID is in an iTunes library on a shared computer, then you can hook up the device and selectively sync any music in that library to the device. You can also sign on any of the Apple IDs to that shared iTunes library and purchase music to be added to the library.
You would need to authorize the computer for each of the new Apple IDs.
Each of the Apple IDs would also be able to download that music purchased either by syncing to the iTunes library on the computer or by downloading it OTA on the device.
So, each Apple ID can download music, movies, etc. purchased with that Apple ID OTA to the device. Also each Apple ID can sync any music, movies, etc. that are in the iTunes library on the computer regardless of who purchased them.
The only other thing you would need to remember is that if an App needed to be updated, then the original Apple ID that was used to purchase that App would come up, and the password that goes with that Apple ID would be required to do the update.

We have exported some IT Resources and when we imported them in the preproduction environment their data was not migrated. Is there any way to export IT Resource data from OIM using the export tool? Or is there any other way to do this without doing it by hand?

Well, I read that already, but I am trying to start up my Mac mini(new purchase) and I cannot get to all the system preferences etc since I cannot get past the startup screens. However, if this email claimed that someone had tried to reset your password and in any way gave you a link to click to confirm your account information, the email was almost certainly a phish. Such phishing messages have been quite common over the last two or three weeks and should be deleted without responding. You may wish to manually type in the URL for Apple's page for managing an Apple ID and change your password, just as a precaution, and make sure you've set good security questions using responses that can't just be looked up for you (they don't have to be real information; you can use any response you wish as long as you can remember what you entered).
