HT4275 how to increase battery life

My battery life suddenly decreased substantially.  Just in the last couple of days

I've seen the same phenomenon as well.  The trackpad batteries sometimes last a month or more and then suddenly they only last 3 days.  I haven't pinned down what's causing the devices not to go into low power mode yet, but certainly a software bug.   Until then I use rechargeables and always have some ready.

  • How to increase battery life, and how this could be automated by Apple

This is something I submitted to iPhone feedback via their webpage. I thought that some of the suggestions (if you do them manually) would help out with battery life a bit, obviously disabling and enabling services all the time is a pain, but it will for sure help, and if it was automated that would help as well...
There are several settings you could add to the iPhone that would greatly increase battery life for users
    1. Have the GPS radio shut off after a period of inactivity from the accelerometer, if the iPhone isn't moving there is no point in wasting battery life keeping the GPS radio on, have it remember the last position before shutting off to help speed up location reporting once the iPhone starts moving again.
    2. Have an options screen that allows users access to all the iPhone services that consume battery, this would make it easy to understand what services use battery and will make it easy to disable those that are not currently required, order the list with the highest battery consumer at the top and the lowest at the bottom, this way people will understand that disabling those services at the top of the list will get them higher increases in battery life. Currently to toggle the battery consuming services requires visiting several menu screens, some several layers deep into the settings pages, people don't bother doing this and thus complanin about battery life.
List of services to include on this page at minimum:
Push, wifi, wifi auto ask to join networks, bluetooth, 3G, location services, notifications, ringer/vibrate, screen brightness, time to sleep, airplane mode
Would also be good to be able to schedule ringer type/volume/vibrate, a lot like profiles on the blackberry.
    3. Have the option to schedule times for various battery consuming services to be available. I don't have wifi at work, i would save battery life if wifi was automatically disabled between 9am to 5pm, sure i could do this manually every day i get into work, but most people won't, if they can schedule it then there is no worry that the iPhone will always only be running those services that are required at the time. Of course there needs to be a manaual override in case something changes, like lets say i don't go to work on wednesday i would want wifi on for that day. Would be best to have these programable services on a 7 day schedule, or at least 5 weekdays and 2 weekend days, but the ideal is obviously that each day can be set seperately and accomodate all sorts of life schedules, just like a 7 day programable thermostat.
Currently a lot of people are complaning about battery life, mostly it is because they don't know what to do to conserve it, or they are too lazy to change settings all the time based on current usage and service requirements. Adding these functions would give people the ability to bettery manage the battery life on their iphones and would help to reduce the amount of complaints.
    Thanks very much!

Actually it is already that way. GPS radio is usually off, unless needed by applications. The problem is that many applications need it (including free apps that include geo-location based advertising) and that's when GPS works some extra. There's also another factor in making GPS drain battery: it is not the GPS radio itself, but communicating with apple's Map server while using it even if you're not looking at any maps. The thing is that location services rely on some information that can only be obtained through communicating with a geo-location server. Which is another drain factor.

Unfortunately it is not that straightforward at all. It depends too much on the type of network you're using and on many other factors. It is impossible to have a reasonably reliable ranking like the one you're suggesting.
What could be useful is to have a single switch that controls all services that rely on persistent connections (push, application notifications, some other things) but it is not that trivial at all.

Having WiFi on while having no WiFi coverage consumes, err, well, almost nothing. Especially in standby, when the phone keeps WiFi radios off at any rate. WiFi is the least expensive bi-directional radio and iPhone manages it very well.

A lot of people are complaining (including myself) because *it does not work right*. Not because I can't switch things off when I don't need them.

Does any one have specific steps they took to increase battery life?

How to preserve battery life ~ used to last all day, now it runs out by lunchtime

I would advise updating to iOS 7. It might improve your battery and the bugs are worked out by now.
If not wanting to update because of the new look, here are some tips:
-Turn off bluetooth when not needed.
-Connect to wifi and turn off cellular data when possible.
-When not around wifi, turn wifi off.
-Keep your screen at around 50% brightness.
-Disbale certain apps or features in Settings<Privacy<Location Services if they are not necessary.
-Close out of apps in the multitasking bar.
-Enable airplane mode when you plan on not using your phone for a while.
Hopefully these tips help you. If your battery does eventually get too bad, you can get it changed out by apple. If youve had your device for under a year, you can take it into an Apple store and theyll give you a new phone in return. Have a good night and good luck!

  • I am getting a flashing ad to upgrade to increase battery life.  Is that from Apple and is it safe?

i am getting a flashing ad on my scrabble app offering an upgrade to increase battery life.  Is that from Apple and is it safe to download and will it truly increase the battery life.   I play scrabble and words with friends, i do not watch videos or anything and the battery life *****

The iPhone 3G can not be updated anymore so don't click ads like the they don't work. Also the iPhone 3G is old enough that it needs a battery change. You can go to apple or an authorized service provider.

  • How to save battery life on iPod touch 5g?

Give me tips on how to save battery life on iPod touch 5g.It dies out very quickly.

    Turn down the screen brightness
Look into notifications. it defaults to everything being on and you can turn off most if not all of them.
Check your e-mail. If it's on push that means it's reaching out for new mails every so often, turning it to fetch means that it only goes to get mail when you tell it to.
Look at some of your apps. Some of them may be doing things in the background that you don't realize and you can tweak those to not run when you don't need them to run.

  • 3GS Upgraded to OS 3.1.2, How is your battery life now?

I upgraded to 3.1 only to find my battery life halved to around 4-6 hrs depending on use.
I then upgraded to 3.1.2 hoping this would be fixed, but no luck.
I use this for work but it wont even last 1 8hr business day without a charge.... not impressed!
How is your battery life since upgrading to 3.1.2?
Is Apple working on fixing this some time soon, or do I start looking for a new "non-iPhone" phone?

My battery life has been just fine with all OS versions; no change with 3.1.2

Many of us have no problems with battery life. So I'm not sure there's anything general for Apple to fix -- but your iPhone may need attention. Why not take it to to a Genius Bar?

  • Any tips on how to improve battery life on new macbook pro?

Any tips on how to improve battery life on new macbook pro?

It all depends on how much you plan to run on battery power. If you don't use it often, set yourself a reminder to let it run unplugged about every couple of weeks to aboout a 40% charge and then plug it up and let it charge back to 100%. If you'r'e a frequent battery user (like me) don't let your MBP discharge to the point where you're running on reserve power - down to about 30 minutes remaining and then charge it back in.
I have over 130 cycles on my computer and I've just had it since March. Even though my battery health was 102.2% when I got my MBP, it's still at 98.8% health and I'm still getting 7+ hours out of my battery. To get the longest use when under battery, keep your activities to low-CPU intensive apps (browser, email client, word processor, etc.) - Internet surfing alone, and not watching a lot of online videos, will give you mor ebang for the buck. You can also check your battery health in 'real time' by using "Battery Health" - free from the App Store and you can make sure that you're running on integrated graphics, which uses less power, by downloading Cody Krieger's exceptional gfxCardStatus.
Keep your screen brightness down to about four ticks and your keyboard backlighting to one tick - should work fine.
    Good battery health to you,
    Clinton

  • Limiting processor speed to increase battery life.

Does anyone know of a way to limit the processor speed to increase battery life while on battery? I know of some windows utilities that will allow you to scale back the processor, to say, 1 ghz or so, so as to get better battery life. Is there any way to do this with a macbook?
    Thanks,
    Zach

Try CoolBook Controller out. It should do what you want.

  • How is your battery life? (on new ZEN on

Well, after the firmware update I thought I'd give it a try and see how long it would last.Last time I did this I got 22 hours, with the first update, the sd card one. This time it ran for 28 hours! With volume 5/25, when I did my last test with 22 hours, I only had it at 5/25 volume. No EQ, no smart?volume, no bass boost etc...And most of my music is 96 kps wma or 28 kps mp3 with a few 92 kps mp3s I've downloaded recently. Then while I'm doing?the test, I'm looking at the Zen page to see how they got battery life(sometimes they say half volume at 28 kps mp3 etc) and I noticed they upped it to 30 hours life instead of 25!Now I don't feel so special. :P?So, I just want to know how much juice you get out of your ZEN?And say if you use eq, volume level, bass boost, kps, etc

Hi guys, you will not keep your player on all day long, so you will not get those?playback durations in normal daily use... i tried all the f/w and now i?use my zen?with the .03.04 f/w and it gives me about 4-5 hours (EQ on, Bass Boost and Smart Volume off and i browse the player much)... yesterday, after an approximately 3 days of daily use (4-5 hrs/day) it got down to the final bar... This is better?than the new f/w?s?for me because when I turn it off with the new f/w s it drains quickly because of the hot standby mode... if you have any solutions for this issue (except leaving it turned on ) i will update my f/w too... coz i can not use my SD card as well as i want to especially while watching video...

  • How can i increase battery life in my iphone 5 after ios7 upgrade

will apple fix this huge problem of half of battery life in my verizon iphone 5 after ios7 upgrade? or should i just go back to ios6?

all I can say is APPLE has no official way to go back to a previous version of OS X.  Perhaps there are hacks, but I cant speak of them here.  Also, that link was only given to you an hour ago, so give it more time to see if it helps with battery life until a more stable version of iOS 7 is released.  Im not happy about the battery life either.

  • Satellite U405 - What is the best way to increases battery life

    Hi everyone!
I've been looking for this quite a bit and all I could find are conflicting answers and some confusing instructions... :)
Even the PDF file for my U405 has some conflicting tips (is it recommended to fully discharge it or not?)
Let's say that I don't want to remove it and store it with a 40% charge in a low temperature location (?) because I also want to trust it as a UPS (power failures are common where I stay).
So, in short, what is the best way to prolong my battery life to its maximum? Should I fully discharge it once a month or only half way through? Should it never be fully charged or that's actually a good thing?
Thanks in advance for any wisdom anyone can offer on this!
    David

The best way would be indeed to put it out of the notebook, but you already said, you won't do this.
So, I would say to fully unload the battery once in a while and load it to a maximum.
This is all I can tell you right now, but don't know how much this will increase the battery's life.
