HT4275 im scared of my charger - it gets so hot i cant touch it - what damage is this going to do in the long run?

I just bought my first macbook pro 3 weeks ago. I have noticed that the charger gets exstremly hot. It has now started to stop and start charging when it feels like it. is this a normal complaint or do i need to go back to the shop and ask for another charger?

You may not need a new charger, as they can get fairly warm. But it defintely wouldn't hurt to take it in and have it checked out just in case!

Likely that the battery is dead.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm. Apple will replace the battery for this price:

There are third-party places which may be less expensive.  Here is one. Google for more.

So bring it to Apple for evaluation.  Can you not figure that out by yourself?

Try placing the iPodin recovery mode and then try to restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Next would be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

Is it getting hot only when charging?
Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • I keep getting "you need a newer version of Pages to open this document" but I have the newest version

Ikeep getting "you need a newer version of Pages to open this document" but I have the newest version

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.1 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 95 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

im trying to download itunes 10.5 but keep getting error message that says: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A problem run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. I am using windows XP 32 bit, all the other computers in my house downloaded just fine, no problems, however this is the computer my iphone is set up to, ive tried doing a virus scan, windows update, downloading other things, updating everything possible, everything works fine, its just itunes that wont download, anyone have any other ideas?

Yes, I had found a similar solution also.  I'm running XP Pro, SP3.  I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair.  Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess.  Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes.  Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing.  I haven't begun to work on that.

  • TS3274 My iPad gets very hot even with short term use. Is this normal?

My iPad gets very hot even with short term use. Is this normal?

I assume that you mean your new iPad - the 3rd generation model. No - that is not normal. Some users have reported this issue and it may be that you have a faulty device.
It may get a little warmer than the previous models of iPads but it should not get "very hot" under any circumstances. Return it - take it to an Apple Store and let a Genius have a look - contact Apple however you need to do so - and let them know about it - but that is NOT normal.

  • My apple iP ad and charger plug keep getting very hot. I have tried resetting it but this doesn't help. Please can anyone help?

please can you help? My apple I pad min version 7.1 (11D167) model MD531B/a. Capasity 13.4 GB keeps getting very hot and the charger plug. It seem to run down quickly too. It's been going on for a long time now. I have tried resetting it but this does nothing. Kind regards Rosemary.

    Hi Rosemary,
These devices will get very warm (even uncomfortably so) when charging. From my own experience this is exacerbated if the device is in use at the time of charging or if the device is in a case that does not allow air to reach the device.
You will see a warning on the iPad's display in the form of a yellow triangle and exclamation mark long before the device reaches a dangerous temperature.
As long as the device is no warmer than a nice cup of coffee, you're in the clear.
As you have mentioned that your battery is draining quickly, this could indicate that the processes running at the time are rather intensive on the iPad's resources and this would naturally raise the temperature of the iPad.
If you have a look in Settings>General>Usage and look for the Standby and Usage times toward the bottom, are the two numbers significantly different? If you see that the Usage and Standby times are identical then you are experiencing a software issue where the device is not entering sleep as it should when not in use.
    Cheers

  • When my macbook charges, it gets white hot and smells burnt

To charge my MacBook, I have to plug in the MagSafe charger, and pinch the case of my laptop. If I hold it together, my mac will eventually begin charging. When it does charge, the adaptor gets so hot I literally have a blister on my finger from touching it, and it smells burnt. Why is this happening?
    About my Mac:
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          MacBook
      Model Identifier:          MacBook7,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2.4 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          3 MB
      Memory:          4 GB
      Bus Speed:          1.07 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:          MB71.0039.B0B

Your computer and/or your charger are damaged and so dangerous as to be a fire hazard. You should STOP using your computer immediately. I also recommend removing the battery for now. Take all the parts to an authorised repairer or Apple Store genius bar and get it fixed BEFORE you end up burning your house down.

  • Wot can i do about my iphone not holding its charge and getting very hot

my phone gets extreamly hot battery wont hold charge if it charges  any help please

The Warranty duration is the Warranty of the Original iPhone. If that Warranty has now lapsed, then the replacement has a 90 day Warranty from when you received the replacement iPhone.

  • My ipad3 gets very hot, why is that? What can be done to solve this issue.

Can someone help me figure out how to stop my iPad from getting so hot.

Don't use any sleeve. The back cover is acting as a heat-sink to take away the heat from the CPU.
Paste a few nice stickers on the back to prevent scratches.

  • My iPod touch 4th generation won't turn on and when I plug it in to charge, it gets really hot. Is there a fix for this?

More information: The iPod ran out of battery late thursday night and I plugged it in to charge. The charging symbol appeared but within 20 minutes, the ipod had gotten very hot and had gained no charge. It hasn't been dropped and it hasn't gotten wet. It's a year and a half old. I use an otterbox as a case, but this problem began three days ago, despite my having been using the brand of case for over a year. It's super important that I find a way to fix this. Help please?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The Hotness usually indicates a hardware problem
