HT4284 How do I install Quicktime 7 on my Win8.1 OS?

I have Windows 8.1 OS on my new laptop, and in order to use a feature in photoshop, I need to install quicktime 7 or higher. The free download on this site says that quicktime 7 only supports up to Windows 7. What can I do to get quicktime 7 on my Windows 8.1 OS?

At the QT for Windows download page it it shows XP/Vista/7 but I believe it will install on Windows 8.1. Don't have Windows 8 myself have Windows 7 64bit. But if you scroll down to the post - QuickTime 7.7.5 will not download to my pc (8.1) they seem to indicate it did eventually install. Give it a try.

The Apple-supported QuickTime Streaming Server only comes with Mac OS X Server. What you need it QTSS's open-source twin Darwin Streaming Server. Download that, open the disk image, and just double-click on the package file to install.

  • How do you install QuickTime Pro 7 on Snowleopard 10.6.8 when QTX is on it?

First off im fairly new to OSX, but when it tells you that you can't install because of a newer version on the machine but won't tell you how to fix it, is an issue. Any suggestions?

Just a footnote to Niel's reply:
Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link  even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)

  • How do I install Quicktime on Windows 7 64 bit?

I get an error message saying that the quicktime installer will only work on 32 bit... Is there a way to get the install to work on 64 bit windows?

I get an error message saying that the quicktime installer will only work on 32 bit
The QuickTime player works on 64-bit systems. (It's a 32-bit application, but it should run fine using the standard 32-bit-on-64-bit Windows-on-Windows emulation.)
What's the precise text of your installation error message, dc? (There one or two different ones I can think of that might mention 32-bit)

  • With Mac OS X 10.6, how can I install QuickTime 7 with QT 10 already there?

Hi. I need to export some video and on another computer I have, I got advice to install QT7 to regain my export options. I'm traveling on my laptop and need to do the same. I downloaded 7 and when I try to install, it says I can't because QT 10 is already installed.
How can I get around this?
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to re-install QuickTime 7.1?

    Hello!
My QuickTime isn't able to play MPEG-1 muxed clips etc correctly. QT shows only the video but with no sound, 1 second after clicking play the video hangs for a while.
The videos I made with a Sony CyberShot do not worl properly in QT.
So how to restore QT 7.1 until Apple has fixed these problems?
Mmmh, I really like QT for Mac OS X, but this update wasn't a big hit.
    Thank you!

  • How do you install QuickTime 7 on the new MBA?

    Just got new MBA.
I own a QT7 Pro license and would like to use it. Problem is: how do I get QT 7 installed?
    Downloaded QT 7.66: installation denied.
Inserted MBA USB installation stick, rebooted as prompted but where is the option to install QT 7?
    Hope you can help. Thanks.

Thanks Dave. But what you suggest is exactly what I did BEFORE posting and without success.
So, in order to answer you:
    1. "optional installs": none on the new MBA usb stick (which replaces the installation DVD).
    2. your link: that's all very well but once you're trying to install QT, as mentioned in my post, Mac OS 10.6.5 doesn't let you.
    Any suggestions?

You can download a trial version of CS4 from http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
Ensure that you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the download links will not work.

  • Cant install quicktime

    Hi there..
i bought myself a new mac book pro and deinstalled quicktime.. why is not so important..
stupid thing to do because i tried to install quicktime with the downloaded quicktime for leopard 7.5 and it says this "software is not meant for this machine"??
same with quicktime for tiger... ok.. in this case its true..
how can i install quicktime again without having to reinstall the whole mac osx package...?
    thanks in advance..

QuickTime is a system component and can only be installed from the OS install.
I don't know what you may have removed but the only option to having a functioning OS is to re-install the OS from its DVD installer.

  • Installing Quicktime...need help

How do i install quicktime 7 pro for my windows XP? the directions that i got from apple don't make sense to me. i need help asap.

Once you've downloaded and installed QuickTime 7 you only need to enter your registration information exactly as it is in the confirmation email in the QuickTime Registration fields.
Nothing else to download or install. It's best to use copy/paste from the email to the registration.

    Hello Slm7531
Check to make sure that your that you do not have anything that would be blocking access to the iTunes store like a firewall or security software. The second article below will assist with troubleshooting accessing the iTunes Store.

  • My Quicktime will not open, and therefore when I try to play a video I get a message saying I need to download Quicktime, but I cannot do that as when I try, I get a message saying I already have it.  How do I un-install Quicktime so I can re-install it?

I am having issues with Quicktime.  It would not open, so I tried to "delete" it and re-intall.  When I did that, it would not let me install it and I got a message saying it could not install because I already had it.
So, I guess what I need to know is how do I un-install Quicktime (even though the icon is gone) and then re-install it.
    Thanks!

Yes I had that problem this week.  Did search in finder and dragged all files to trash, including any attempted down loads of updated quicktime, emptied, restarted and then down loaded latest version and all ok.

  • Help! Bought a used iMac (2008) and I'm trying to install quicktime but its asking me for a password and has Apple in the "Name" spot.  How do I retrieve or reset the password?

    Can anyone help...
I just bought a used iMac (2008) from an ebay seller and I'm trying to install quicktime but its asking me for a password and has Apple in the "Name" spot.
How do I retrieve or reset the password?
It came with the upgrade of Mountain Lion but I cannot find quicktime in the applications.  When I try to install anything this Installer Password thing comes up... so I'm stuck.

I think you're slightly misunderstanding something, so maybe I'll try to chime in, even though everyone has said it in various ways.
Before OSX 10.7 (aka Lion) came out, the upgrades to OSX belonged to the Mac and not the user. Probably there was a technical legality in the user agreement that you couldn't do that, but everyone did. I could sell a Mac with Snow Leopard (or anything before that) by just erasing the hard drive, and reinstalling OSX. Then ship it to the buyer. Now, I was pretty honest as a seller, and including not only the original installation discs but also any upgrade. I would only sell a Mac if I was replacing it, so I always was getting the brand new version.
With OSX 10.7, upgrading was done online, with no disks. So the upgrades were tied to an Apple ID rather than the machine. Recently, I sold a MacBook Pro (to upgrade to a 27" iMac), which came with Lion. I had promised the buyer that it would come with Mountain Lion, but I didn't know that the upgrade was tied to my Apple ID. I made good with the buyer by sending along a $20 Apple App Store card so that she could upgrade to Lion.
So what everyone is saying here is that you need the original Installation discs or Snow Leopard disk to reinstall and wipe out the Mountain Lion that is on your Mac. It doesn't belong to you, it belongs to the seller, and without his Apple ID and password, you cannot use it. Once you do a reinstall of Snow Leopard, then you can upgrade to Lion and then to Mountain Lion. I do not believe you can upgrade directly to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard, but I'm not sure.
If the seller claimed that you were getting Mountain Lion, then he was lying to you (or being more civil, maybe he just didn't know like I did). If you bought the used machine from Amazon Sellers or from eBay, then you have recourse through the feedback system or through PayPal. If you bought it any other way, you're on your own.
