HT4352 My i-tunes library appears on my Mac NOT on my Apple TV screen?

I havea  Mac, bought Apple TV.  Switched on home sharing on my Mac and Apple TV.  The itunes library does not appear on my Apple TV itself, but the menu actually appears on myMac instead and works using the remote? Wierd - can anyone help me? Have I got setting wrong? I want to access my library via Apple TV? thanks.

Songs purchased before 2009 likely have DRM protection which requires the computer be authorized to the correct Apple ID before playing.
Since you are no longer in one household you should look into purchasing the music again just as if it was purchased CDs that you divided between you.  In this case though, the ownership remains tied to the account so it's all or none (unless you continue to share the account which IMHO is not a good idea).
You cannot transfer ownership from one iTunes account to another.  If the other party kept control of the account then they are linked to that permanently.
The login ID remains fixed as the initial email address but that's just an identifier.  You should change contact e-mail to ensure e-mail is sent to a current address (or several).

    Hey andcar1,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If iTunes cannot find the library, you can look on your computer to find it. The following article will assist with finding those files.

  • How to transfer itunes library from windows to mac, not all my songs were successfully transferred

I recently bought a new mac air and the Apple Store transferred my files from my windows laptop( windows 7) to my new mac.  however, I lost over a 1000 songs in the process.  How can i get all my songs into my new library?

    Hello pmwildcat
I would use either Home Sharing or use an external drive to get the songs and copy them over. If they are purchased items from the iTunes Store, you can download them from looking at your purchase history.

  • Imac froze and on re load folder with question mark appeared.  Now will not start up to home screen.

The other night my Imac froze during updates.  I found it in the morning with the screen and mouse frozen and only the loading icon spinning.  I re stared the computer from the power button.
Upon re loading the apple logo did not appear and was replaced by a folder with a question mark in the middle.  I looked this up online and found the best option was to use disk utility to check and repair the hard drive.  This showed an error with HFS.  Used disk utility to fix the hard drive so thast no error appear.  I re stared the computer but all it loaded was the folder with the question mark again, so I decided to erase the hard drive of any information (I back up quite regulary, but left it as last resort due to inconvenience), when installing again it seems to go so far before telling me it cannot install and I need to re start.  I have erased the dsk again and completed disk clean too before trying again and getting the same results.
I am currenlty stuck at this point and need help, which would be appreciated.
My Imac is an early 2008 Aluminimum model and installtion disk is 10.3

The folder with ? mark mean one of 2 things.
    1) The OS is so corrupted that the hardware can't find it as a valid way to boot the system.
    2) Your hard drive has failed.
You can try booting from the Recovery HD partition, Commadn + r keys at startup if you are running Lion Mt Lion or Mavericks.
Or boot the system from the original System reinstall DVD that came with your Mac or an upgrade OS X install DVd you may have purchased.
With either use Disk Utility to see if the hard drive is seen and if it can be erased or repartitioned and then restore from a Time Macine baclup or reinstall OS X.

  • Droboshare won't appear on my Mac and PC with Apple Extreme

I'm trying to understand my airport extreme. I was able to find my droboshare on my old network which was a WNR3500 Netgear Router connect to a GS805 switch. I think I also opened up ports on my router so both my Mac and my PC could see it. It was all working fine, till I upgraded my network to an Apple Extreme connected to a GS108 Network switch.  I can't seem to figure out how to open ports on the apple network and to get my PC and Mac to see it again.  My Drobo 1gen is formated FAT32.
What is the difference between public TCP/UDP and private TCP/UDP, and which IP address do I use for the Private IP Address colume; Droboshare IP or my Mac and PC IP? I given static IP address to eveything connect to my network from the Apple Extreme.
How do I do a range of ports? Ex. 1 to 10 ports TCP/UDP.

On your Mac, make sure Automatic Downloads is selected in iTunes / Preferences - Store.

  • HT1660 i tunes library not saving when syncing

my itunes library constantly sends me a message that the library is not saving due to unknown issues and then displays (-50). Any thoughts? I can't find support on i tunes library and saving issues. Note- I do not pay extra for the annual cloud services.

  • Podcasts no longer appear under ipod device in I tunes library.  I can access podcasts on my ipod but I CANNOT access podcasts on I tunes library.  I have disconnected and reconnected.  I have restored my ipod.  I have checked for updates. What else?

'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library.  I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library.  I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music.   I can add more podcasts to ipod.  The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts.   When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device.  So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library.  I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod.  I have checked for updates.  I have restored the ipod to it's original settings.  My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

To be clear, the podcast icon disappeared under Ipod device in Itunes.  I can access and manage the podcasts in the itunes library.  I can't manage podcasts on my ipod via itunes (which means I can't delete podcasts from my ipod). I can access podcasts on my ipod, itself.

Thanks for that 'sberman' - because my iPhone is backed-up to my work computer (only at this stage) I have had to call our IT Department in Adleaide. (4 times this morning). The last guy managed to get the phone into 'DFU Mode' - no more recovery mode screen - (kind of 'asleep' perhaps) from my understanding of same. I am awaiting a call again from IT so they can get my computer to actually recognise my iPhone on the C Drive. This also happened to  one of my colleagues in Newman (WA). She got so frustrated with the whole process that she bought another phone the next time she was in 'civilisation.' She hasn't had any problems since. (Cross fingers).
    Thanks again, Sandra2474.

  • Problems backing up I-tunes library to external hard drive.

Help - I'm having problems backing up I-tunes library to external hard drive. The drive appears on the desktop but when I try to drag in my i-tunes music folder I just get the circle with a line through it symbol. I can drag items from my mac to a different 4 gig memory stick with no problems. I put some music onto the hard drive from a windows p.c. and that dragged into my i-tunes fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

i'm guessing the external HD is NTFS formatted, which your Mac cannot write to (read only).
you will either have to reformat it (FAT32 or, better yet, for Mac) or install the _*NTFS 3G*_ driver.

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

  • I have a MacBook Air and recently downloaded the new operating system. Since that time, I am no longer able to access my personal ITunes library to add music to IPhoto slideshows.  I put I tunes library on my desktop, as suggested. How do I drag it?

I have a MacBook Air and recently downloaded the new operating system, 10.10 OSX Yosemite. Since that time, I am no longer able to access my personal ITunes library to add music to IPhoto slideshows.  I put I tunes library on my desktop, as suggested. How do I drag it to the I Photo slideshow?

That crash appears to be casued by the Facebook plug-in.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • If I put my I tunes library in my external hard disk can I still share it with all the accounts of my Mac?

If I put my I tunes library in my external hard disk can I still share it with all the accounts of my Mac?

    Hello there, Gnorra.
The following Knowledge Base article reviews how to share your music in iTunes with multiple users on the same computer:
iTunes: How to share music between different user accounts on a single computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1203
If you're using Mac OS X, follow these steps:
    Quit iTunes.
Go to your iTunes Media folder. By default, it's in ~/Music/iTunes. (This folder may be named iTunes Music if you created your iTunes library in iTunes 9 or earlier.)
Note: "~" represents your Home folder. Other users on your computer can't access these locations.
Drag the iTunes Media folder to a public location. For example, you could move it to the Public folder in your Home folder (~/Public) or to a location outside your Home folder that other users can access (/Users/Shared).
Important: Don't move the iTunes folder, the iTunes library file, or the iTunes library.xml file.
    Open iTunes.
    Choose iTunes > Preferences.
    Click Advanced.
    Click the Change button.
In the window that opens, go to your iTunes Media folder.
    Click Choose or Open.
Repeat these steps for each user that you want to share music with. If multiple users on your computer are storing music in the same public folder, duplicate song files may appear if a user imports music from a CD that another user already imported.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.
