HT4352 slow streaming from itunes to apple tv 3

I am experiencing slow streaming from itunes to apple tv (latest gen). My itunes library is found but when the music begins it stops after 2 seconds then restarts etc etc. It seems like it is streaming slowly from itunes. At first it appeared the firewall was the problem but this has been eliminated. Any one have the same problems or know of a solution?

Hi,
I had this problem both between Mac itunes library and Apple TV and Windows 7 Itunes Library to Apple TV, I disabled IPv6 on both my mac and windows machine, fixed the ip on all my devices. I also disabled windows firewall on my windows machine (I have an external firewall so not needed) you may not want to do this. From my windows machine it would play a few songs, then start one at 7 seconds and not play audio. From my mac it would say connecting to itunes library with the wheel.
These are the things I believe to resolve the issue, I also disabled a tonne of windows services (iphelper, Windows media streaming)

  • After APTV and itunes upgrade on mac, streaming from itunes to Apple TV is very slow.

After APTV and itunes upgrade on mac to latest on 02/15, streaming from itunes to Apple TV is very slow. even 5 mins song takes 10-15 mins to start. Netflix/Youtube work fine on Apple TV. restarted Mac, router, modem, appletv. reset Appletv to factory setting and re-start.

Apple TV 2 does not appear in iTunes (exception being when connected via micro-usb for restore) as it has no sync capabilities.

  • Problem streaming FROM iTunes to Apple TV

I recently reinstalled windows on my computer, and copied the old iTunes settings to my new installation. Everything works fine, except for streaming from iTunes to my Apple TV 2. I have no problems when using my Apple TV to select podcasts or music in the Library on my computer, they play fine. However, when I use iTunes to play these podcasts or songs on my Apple TV (using Airplay) they have constant hiccups. Every 20-30 seconds, the sound stutters. My wifi connection is not the problem, the Apple TV, computer and router are all in the same room close to eachother (and I have the maximum number of bars on my wifi connection).
I have read somewhere that it may be related to old network preferences kept by iTunes, and have tried to delete the old com.apple.iTunes.plist file, but this did not help.
Does anybody have any idea to solve this annoying problem?

I am amazed as well. I have spent days and hours trying to figure this out! I believe it is a software glitch that allows sesitivity to vary! Signal strength stays @100%, there are no other houses for 50 yards in a wooded environment and no other electronic devices to possibly interfere with the signal. With only 20 feet seperating airport and apple tv you would think it would be stable. This is more then disappointing. With my system the same thing happens as with yours?? Apple says interference but I know that is not the case. I had the same problem at 3 in the morning and this place is dead at 3 in the morning. Not even a car!! Sometimes iTunes just drops off station and apple tv stays synced can't explain that either??

  • Streaming from itunes to apple tv really slow

Trying to stream movies from my Late 2012 Model MacBook Pro (with iTunes) to Apple TV. Running latest patch for Mavericks.
Have experienced the following issues on BOTH of my Apple TV's
    1. Trying to stream from MacBook (iTunes) takes forever (id say 30 minutes for every 1 minute of video)
    2. Streaming from Apple (my movies) works fine
    3. Streaming from Netflix works fine
    4. Internet speed test from MacBook is always 10Mbps or better (sometimes 25Mbps), and Wireless Signal strength is normal (5 bars)
    5. Can watch movies on MacBook Pro just fine
Streaming worked fine a few months ago.
    Here is what I tried
    1. Rebooting Router
    2. Rebooting Apple TV's
    3. Rebooting MacBook Pro
    What else can I try/check?

Make sure DNS is set to auto (setting - general - network)
    Try ethernet
Checking signal on device won't be an accurate network indicator, to get a full report go to istumbler or similar to see signal strength and any noise detected.

  • Very slow streaming from Mac to Apple TV 2

    Hi
I have recently had an Apple TV2, the main reason was so that we could watch our growing number of homemade family HD films on the TV without having to burn to Blu-Ray etc.
Problem is we can't.  Music is fine but when I click on a movie (from IPad or iMac) it takes at least 30 mins before it starts, the streaming bar at the bottom hardly moves.
I see that there are others with similar problems.  I am using my home wireless network (BT Homehub 2) and I have no issues using the Internet, which is faster that streaming from my Mac!!!
Please can someone help as this is driving me mad.
    Thanks
    Matthew

Sorry about this: I finally figured it being an iTunes issue.  Restarting my router did the trick.

  • Prevent sleeping when streaming from iTunes to Apple TV ...

    Hi,
Streaming to the Apple TV from iTunes does not reset the system's idle time, so it does not prevent the computer from falling asleep in the middle of a movie presentation.  Monitoring iTunes CPU usage with an AppleScript handler does not work either ...  the CPU usage is not amplified when iTunes is streaming to the Apple TV ... gosh !!
I created a not so perfect work around.  I use Caffeine that resets the computer's idle time.  Being a manual intervention, it is not a perfect. I am still looking for a better one, in order to prevent these 2 problems:
    (1)  I would like to find a way (shell script ???) to detect iTunes/Apple TV's streaming activity automaticaly:  this way I could monitor the computer's idle time; not requiring the manual intervention of activating Caffeine is basic ... you realize the importance of this when the streaming stops in the middle of a projection and when you have to go in the den to awake your computer because you forgot to activate Caffeine; it is more frustrating, if you forget that repeatedly;
    (2) while streaming to the Apple TV, the screen saver should be activated without allowing the sleep process.
These 2 could easely be done by reseting the system's idle time when streaming.  It should be a standard iTunes/Apple TV features, nor requiring any work around.
Well ... hoping this will help to bring a more perfect solution.
    Regards.

  • Streaming from iTunes to Apple TV 2

    Hi,
I am unable to stream a movie I bought through the iTunes store to my Apple TV 2.  It says "your Apple TV is not authorised to play this content" when I try from my iPad, and just displays an unknown error (406) message when I try from iTunes.  It's all on the same account that I purchased the movie with, so why unauthorised? I have tried turning everything off then back on and am running all the latest software.  I also appear not to be able to sync to the Apple TV as it's not appearing in iTunes anywhere.

  • Slow streaming from iCloud to apple tv, slow streaming from iCloud to apple tv

The time it takes to stream tv or movie from icloud to apple tv 2 can run as long as 2 to 3 hours. I cannot find any settings that will improve the perfotmance. What can I do?

When it is going to sleep, it stops outward communications. Wireless connections can be frequently disconnected as well. If you want it to stay awake while streaming, go to the settings application and tap general, find the sleep settings and set to "Never". This will also keep your iPad from sleeping at all though, so make sure you lock it or close your Smart Cover ("Sleep/Wake with Smart Cover" must be enabled for the cover to put it to sleep, but it is enabled by default) or else the screen will stay on until the battery dies.
I prefer using either the dock connector to VGA adapter or the dock connector to HDMI to connect to the TV, that way it doesn't take up your Wireless Network's bandwidth, and you don't need to use the Apple TV either. The sleep problem will still exist, however, unless you change the sleep time like I mentioned above.

  • Streaming from iTunes to Apple TV

If I output audio to my stereo receiver from the Apple TV, I assume I do not need to have the Television on to listen to my iTunes?
    Thanks

    Correct.
If you use the iTunes AirTunes feature, i.e you select the Apple TV as the external speakers in iTunes then you can control the music being played from iTunes.

  • Slow streaming from MAC to Apple TV

I am using OS Mountain Lion on my MacBook Air.
For some very strange reason, I am unable to connect easily to Apple TV anymore.  I have the latest updates for all three, iTunes, Apple TV and my MAC.
It takes an excrutiating long time for Apple TV to read my iTunes library and then several minutes before a selected song actually starts playing.  It seems to me as if it starts once roughly 5 minutes have been streamed to Apple TV.  Playing multiple songs is not realistic.
However, when connecting from my iPhone or iPad, I do not have the same issues.  Means, it is not the network.
Any ideas what I might have messed up?
    Thanks!

Sorry about this: I finally figured it being an iTunes issue.  Restarting my router did the trick.

  • Could you play a live stream from safari to apple tv without going through itunes?

could you play a live stream from safari to apple tv without going through itunes?

There is no way to stream Safari content, with or without iTunes, to your AppleTV.
The only way would be to use a mirroring feature given that you have an AppleTV 2nd gen or newer and a 2011 or newer MBP running mountain lion.
If not, some third party software like AirParrot can also gives you way to mirror your MBP display on the TV.

  • I need to stream video from itunes to apple tv with out using my 40gb hd.

i need to stream video from itunes to apple tv with out using my 40gb apple tv can it be done you see i have a 40gb apple tv and it's full and i still have lots more video (movies) in my itunes can i stream movies from itunes to apple tv with my memory full in apple tv??????????

Select the iTunes library on your computer from the Sources menu in Apple TV and then you can stream. If streaming is not smooth and your router has a multicast setting, try increasing the multicast bit rate. To return to the synced content on your Apple TV, select the Apple TV logo at the top of the Sources menu.

  • Apple TV Cuts off when streaming from iTunes

Since a couple days ago, when I stream a TV show I have brought from iTunes directly to watch it works fine but every 8 - 9 minutes, without fail it will cut off and say the iTunes store is not avaliable. I then simple press play again and it starts again, but then 8 - 9 minutes later the same thing happens? Does anyone know a way to fix this?? It's very frustrating when you're watching an hour long TV show and it cuts off 6 or 7 times!!
    Thanks.
P.S. It worked fine until a couple days ago.

its something on itunes part, like lantzn said we all been trying to get them to help us
if you stream from your library---- works fine
if you stream from netflix-----all is fine
if you stream from itunes store ----whatever you are watching will cut off after 8min 59 sec
you can resume but just 9 min later the same thing happens again.
I have spent 2 days trouble shooting the issue with Apple care, I even opened a new Apple tv I got for my family room which is doing the same thing, I reset my settings, I refreshed my network still the same problem
today on a return call I got from apple care they agree its on itunes end, so he made a call or chat whatever they did to the tech support at the itunes store dept and they gave him the same as I got from express lane, everything is fine on their end....its not!
they told him to tell me its my network ...its not! I have 2 xbox consoles and they both work fine when I stream videos, I have no issue with anything on my Apple tv such as youtube or netflix or my library
    jus the store.
there are so many complaining on this exact issue and they need to understand
the coomon issues we all have
started on the 19th of this month
itune store cuts off after 8min and 59 sec
it can resume but will cut off after 8min and 59 sec
can watch netflix with no problems
can use my library to stream with no problems
it could be a server issue or update but the new apple tv I opened was 4.4.3 and it had the same issues as the one I been using which is 4.4.4
The only thing I can suggest is if you have the Apple care on your Apple TV is to call over and over and let them know this is happening because if they get the calls then hopefully someone will keep contacting the itune store support and fix it.
itunes support told apple care to go to a store and have them test it on their network
Honestly, I can not make it to the  genuis bar at a apple store for a bit because I was in a car accident and can't walk on my leg, so trust me I was looking forward to watching a bunch of movies, I could but the resuming after every 9 min blows.
so frustrated but im calling apple care again in the morning.

  • Streaming from iTunes to ATV3 slow to nonexistent after 6.0 update

After updating to 6.0 my ATV3 and one of my ATV2's has encountered issues with streaming from iTunes (Computers) on my household iMac. I hadn't updated my second ATV2, which I used to test my theory that it was 6.0 specific. Streaming from it works fine.
My ATV3 and ATV2 are not bricked. Apps such as Netflix work well and all Apple purchased content play easily from the cloud.
Has anybody encountered the same issue? Have you found a resolution?
On a side note, my iTunes is 11.1 (from beta), my iMac is a 2.8 Intel Core 2 Duo and my OS is 10.8.5. Though I do not see this being any cuase. Again, my second ATV2 works fine.
    Thanks in advance everybody.
    _teunis

I have both an ATV3 and ATV2 after updating my ATVs are missing content and it is random what is missing.  Some material I have ripped and stored in iTunes for ease of use.  At first I thought it might be Tunespan but it seems to be working fine, and other ripped material apears and plays without issue.  I spoke to tech support who said this was the first call the had, had about this issue after the 6.0 update.  Interwstingly enough both ATVs are missing the same content which leads me to believe it is another glitch in the update.  I am from Canada so I don't know if the issue is being resolved in the US.  P.S. I have tried the second update for my ATV 3 and am still missing content.  The only option ttech seemed to suggest was a full restore via your Mac and a micro usb cable.

  • How to stream from iPad to apple tv via airport express with the airport express being connected to the internet

I have an apple tv, iPad 3 and airport express. Im at school and the apple tv is technically not supported by the network. Ive read that one could use AirPlay to apple tv via AE.
Can someone help me make this work? Step by step process if possible.
    Thanks in advance,

The router does provide WIFI, but the thing is the Apple TV will be out of reach. I want to avoid having two routers / networks. That's why Apple TV is hardwired. The AirPort (also hardwired) should only work as a receiver for the iPhone - streaming iPhone content to the Apple TV.
BOTH the Apple TV and the AirPort Express are AirPlay "speakers." That is, you can stream from iTunes to either device. You don't need both if the Apple TV is hardwired to an existing router. That provided the necessary networking for AirPlay to stream over. Wi-Fi is NOT required for AirPlay if you have a wired connection between the AirPlay "server" (i.e., iTunes host) and the AirPlay "speaker."
The Apple TV would work as a "receiver" for your iPhone.
If AirPlay is an application layer software, how may two AirPlay device communicate directly? Normally all communication is relayed by the access point.
AirPlay is a streaming protocol that runs over TCP/IP. AirPlay "speakers" DO NOT communicate with each other directly. The basic communication path is between an AirPlay "server" and an AirPlay "speaker" or multiple "speakers." Again the path between them can be either be wired or wireless or some combination of each.
