HT4362 Trouble getting Apple TV to link to iPhoto
I have a new Apple TV and have enabled home sharing on my laptop so I can see my iTunes library via the Apple TV.
I'm trying to get Apple TV to sync with my iPhoto library as a screensaver. When I select iPhoto as an option in iTunes, I don't get the option to 'apply' that choice... Instead the button at the bottom, just says 'sync' but it doesn't do anything. My iPhoto library is on an external wireless drive so not sure if that's part of my problem? The Apple TV can see my photo stream photos so it seems to just be an iPhoto / Apple TV connection issue...

I'm no quite sure whether the problem is actually my iphoto or my external drive:
- iPhoto is saying 'Photos are being imported to the library - please wait until this is completed' but no photos are actually being imported... Trying to find a fix for this on this community as well
- The external drive isn't showing up on my finder list of folders, which makes me think it's a connection issue but iPhoto is talking to it and I logged on remotely and it says connection is good. The external drive is a 'my book live' wireless drive (DHCP LAN configuration). It holds all my itunes and iphoto files (not sure what other 'formatting' info you that would be helpful?)
Not sure if any of this helps but I'm presuming the trouble isn't with my itunes or apple tv - it's either the hard drive or the iphoto program.

Trouble getting rid of default link colors!
Dear Folks,
I have created a ul list for navbar: reads just great in Safari, but has residual blue link color and underline - I have eliminated all styles in the source code, and have written styles in the CSS. Firefox reads all the visted and current links as default underlines, where I want color boxes.
The header where the navbar is located is a secondary header with the div #header2 (no nav bar on the splash index page)
What I wanted was a "tabbed" look, (dark background with light rollovers) which I got as long as I don't "visit" pages - then it reverts to blue letters with underline.
Any help? Here is the code in the CSS
In frustration, I set a separate link color for the footer for all pages - it read fine when each was a separate command, but combining it in CSS Shorthand made it not function.

MarthaIn your CSS, you always need to define a minimum of 4 rules for the "states" of each link.
Minimum states are:
link
visited
hover
active
in that order.
In your CSS, for #navbar li a (which is any link inside a list inside an element with id="navbar"), you have only defined the link and hover states.
In the absence of a specific CSS rule for the visited state, the browser will always default to blue underline.
Change your CSS as follows

Getting Apple to respond to "SLOW" iPhoto '11
It seems like there are a lot of users complaining about their new $49 dollar sloth called iPhoto '11 but I have yet to here any hint of an update is coming soon remark from anyone at Apple customer service and support. Maybe no one there has older systems and my MacPro circa 2006 is just to old to handle it. Maybe no one tested older machines but it seems obvious that this program is not ready for prime time. Please tell me the system they demoed because I would like my system to work like that. Let's just pray it's under 2 grand. This is the first time I was really screwed by Apple on a program. Lesson learned on jumping early. I am astonished to see that tech websites are recommending this App. How? When it just seems sluggish and unresponsive, and quits or has to be forced to quit for anything to be done. What gives Apple?
I really do feel like I was shafted. I cant even use iPhoto because the experience is so slow. I just don't even open it. This should be acknowledged and there should be a fix. I know I meet the software requirements to run the software at an acceptable level. 4GB of RAM should offer a descent experience and yes the rest of my set-up is stock. This a Mac Pro and Apple could have been nice enough to tell me it would not work well with my antiquated machine. My only saving grace is that I use Aperture 3 for most of my editing duties. I generally do my amateur stuff in iPhoto but it should still be a good experience. At this point I just want a refund. If no refund is going to be offered then I should get a fix, only because I am not getting the product that was advertised, not even close when it comes to iPhoto. Now I haven't even tried the other two updates.

I cannot get Apple to accept payment for iPhoto xmas cards
I have assembled my Christmas card using iPhoto on my iMac. (like I have the last 2 years) When I try to pay for it I keep getting reminders to check my billing information because my account information has changed. I check it and it is all OK. But it keeps telling me to do the same thing over and over and won't let me finish the purchase.
Pay attention to the expiration date of the card. That got me last year.

I am having trouble getting my My Mac Book Pro 15" Retina to wake up with an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse while Docked in a Hengedock vertical docking station. The Keyboard and mouse work great with the laptop lid open but when closed in the docking station the bluetooth signal does not seem to transmit. Is there a setting that can be changed to allow an Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to wake the computer while docked?
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
How do I add a desktop link to additional email accounts? I have one email account as my safari home page because it has trouble with apple mail, but I want a one-click link on my desktop that takes me to two other email accounts.
Can you set up a rule in your old account to forward mail to your new account and then delete it from the old account?

Im having trouble getting my macbook pro to boot up after a fail safe boot, im getting as far as the grey screen with the apple loggo. so im trying to run a disk repair but is saying the disk is locked, how do i unlock disk??
Some clarification may help.
You say you cannot boot normally. It shows a gray screen with the Apple logo.
Did you say it will boot successfully in Safe Mode (boot, then hold down the Shift key)?
How did you boot the machine to run Disk Utility? (Which keyboard combinations)? -

Without the Apple ID you can't get a password reset email. The link I gave above can help you recover the Apple ID as well, though, via your security questions. If you don't know those either, then you may be out of luck, though you can try calling Apple Support and asking to speak with Account Security and see if they can help, though you're going to have to prove that you actually own that Apple ID and aren't just trying to get illegal access to someone else's account.

This section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:

Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

I have an Imac with OSX 10.6.8 dual intel core.
Apple TV 2
Timecapsule
3G modem connected to iMac for internet access.
I have tied to get Apple TV2 to see the inernet but it does not seem to see the inernet connection either via the Airport network or even if I connect it directly with a ethernet cable to the Timecapsule or the iMac.
I have tired to set up Home Sharing but it doen't see the Itunes Store so no go.
I don't have wired internet but it is probably something to do with using a 3G modem
Any tips on how I can check if the TV coonect to internet and what to do about this problem?
I was trying to connect my HD TV earlier using a WiFi USB modem but it could not see my iMac. Apple Support told me to buy an Apple TV but that is not helping as I can't see anything there either.

I have reset the printing system, a few times for good measure but nadda.
I have also looked at getting the software from the Apple site after seeing that with Snow Leopard you should let the operating system lead the install not the manufacteurers software as it is most likely out of date. I too found it wasn't there so I uninstalled the software got up the CLX_3300 series stuff then went from there with the USB cable. It apparently hasn't worked either
Unfortunately now after using the print utility to scan for a while that has now gone again on the last restart of the Mac. I am so completely clueless
The box says the printer is compatible, the place of purchase said it was compatible, the Samsung site says it is compatible.
I think it's the set up of my Mac? Our maybe a glitch in the network settings?

I'm now having trouble getting mac mail to work on my mac. The mobile me account works great on iphone and ipad but it won't connect to my mail account. Password is correct. What else can I do? Using OS10.68

The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

Getting Apple's "Midi Network" to work
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro computer to work as a wonderful "slave computer". Basically, because I extensively use the "CPU & Memory hog" Kontakt/Kontakt Player programs, I purchased the new MacBook Pro to divide the work load. So far, it's proven to do this nicely! The MacBook Pro is a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB's of SDRAM running on Leopard 10.5.4. I have an external hard disk drive which houses all of the instrumental sound libraries. The external hard disk drive is connected to the MacBook Pro using an eSATA connector. The audio device used is a new MOTU 828 MK3.
My older Mac Pro workstation is noted below. Please note that I have not upgraded the older Mac Pro workstation to Leopard YET. Although I do plan on upgrading the operating system, things are working quite fine using 10.4.11. I use M-Audio's Keystation Pro 88, connected to the older Mac Pro workstation, as the midi controller.
The issue. . .
I can't get the Apple Midi Network to work between the two Apple computers. They both seem to see each other, but midi information does not seem to be transferred between the two computers.
At present, I have both networked via a NETGEAR 8 Port 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Switch. This is so that I can have access to the Internet. Now, I am able to transfer files between the two computers. Both computers seem to "see" each other using this network method.
For the MacBook Pro, I am using a CAT6 ethernet cable. I think that this is also true for the older Mac Pro workstation.
I believe that I am configuring the "Midi Network" function correctly. I can see it via the Logic Pro 8.02 program (in the Environment).
Finally. . . I am able to use Music Lab's MidiOverLan CP3 between the two Apple computers!! This is solid! Why, though, am I NOT able to get Apple's "Midi Network" to work?? Am I misunderstanding its function?? Does it not work when one computer is operating under Leopard and the other (older) computer is using the older version?? Could it be the CAT 6 cables?? The NETGEAR switch??
At present, I am happy using the MidiOverLan CP3 program to communicate midi information between the two computers. It would be nice to be able to correctly use Apple's own software, though. (Maybe it's user error??)

TedSeveral months ago, I DID get this feature to work...And I'm sorry, I don't remember exactly what I did. It took several attempts. I linked my intel and PPC mactogether.
The problem was, there was too much of delay to make this a useful feature for realtime recording. I was trying to play a virtual instrument, that was a PPC plug-in while recording on a newer macpro..
If you were willing to create 'scratch' tracks one computer, using native Logic plugins, until you had all the midi data right. and then wanted to port midi over to the 2nd computer, and create a more detailed sound to port back into your 2nd computer, it CAN be done. but like I said the delay was too much..(I couldn't get it to be a realtime feature)
There was a 'delay adjustment' feature, in the midi, but I couldn't get that to be useful. If you have plug-ins that you absolutely can't live without, you can try this, but I found it to be too much trouble, and there were some computer lockups involved.
