  • How to connect apple tv when the hdmi port on my tv is connected to the hdmi modem

I just got at&t uverse tv service.  The modem is connected to the hdmi port on my tv.  I bought a 4 in 1 out hdmi connector box, but don't know if this will work.  I've tried plugging the apple tv into one of the in ports, but I can't get it to work.  I've tried plugging both the modem and the tv into the out box and other components into the in ports, but it hasn't worked.
Has anyone ever run into this problem where the tv hdmi port is used and apple tv requires an hdmi port?
    thanks,
    Joan

I use this device as my 4 splitter and i get connection all devices working then after a few hours i get an error. can i get some direction on how to place each device on this one splitter? the Uverse box and TV only has one HDMI plugs, I put the TV HDMI from TV input to splitter Output, then I put Uverse cable in port 1 on the splitter, then appletv in port3.
I need some direction if you can provide any.

  • Do i need a genuine apple mini display to hdmi port?

    Never had a problem.
I believe you, but that's a sample of one. I and others have had problems and as the adaptor is such a small fraction of overall cost I standardized on the Moshi, from the Apple Store and now have no problems, I use these installations in bars, and there are over 30 of them so for me consistency matters, and the screen/macmini costs way more than the adaptor/cable combo.
Read the many posts on this subject, a search on Moshi will reveal them as it is regularly recommended in this forum.
And as your adaptor works so well, how about identifying it for others?

  • Is there a specific reason why apple did not incorporate hdmi into the thunderbolt displays ?

Is there a specific reason why apple did not incorporate hdmi into the thunderbolt displays and the new imacs? Everything on the market uses hdmi...they then add one to the new macbook pros, but none on the displays. Is there a reason?

These are User to User support Forums where we all help each other.  No one from Apple replies here.  Obviously we have no way of knowing why Apple does or doesn't choose to do something.

    Hey Anndog,
Thanks for the question. I understand you wish to connect your iPad 2 to an HDMI TV. The following article provides some great information on how to do this, along with troubleshooting information if you are experiencing issues:

I bought 2 Apple Digital AV Adapters “HDMI” (30 pin Digital TV Adapter "for IPad 2" - Lightning Digital AV Adapter "for IPad mini") three days ago.
I’ve used my iPad 2 to connect with Samsung Smart TV via 30 pin Digital AV Adapter “HDMI”,
The iPad 2 instantly connect to the television, but the problem is that the TV displayed screen (mirror) isn't full screen. I tried with every setting on my iPad and also on the television but still no luck and the screen still appear in small size.
I’ve used my iPad mini to connect with Samsung Smart TV via Lightning Digital AV Adapter “HDMI”,
    but also the same problem
I tried connecting with other televisions but the same result
It only works with iPhone with Full Screen!!!!!
I need to solve this issue as I paid almost 95 $ and for the first time I didn’t get the service I need from apple!! (Which I didn’t expect)

  • My Apple Mini Display Port/HDMI adapter is not working after upgrading to Maverick?

I am using my 13" Macbook Pro Purchased July 2013 on my 42" Samsung TV.  I route through a HDMI adapter (purchased from Apple) to do my presentations. As a note my setup has been working great for the last year. Immediately following the upgrade to Maverick my Samsung displays "No Signal" and changes state "Check Signal Cable" when the cable is disconnected.  Obviously there is some type of signal but it is not recognized.  I tried working with Apple support and they said that the adapter I was using must not be an Apple product.  I investigated fully thinking I may have possibly bought the wrong item, after much research I have exactly the same thing sold on the Apple store online and I even went to 3 Apple stores locally to see if there was possibly another adapter that I should have purchased, but it was exactly the same thing I purchased originally.  Help me fix the problem or please provide details on how to go back in operating systems to prior to Maverick (and not lose any of my data), this upgrade was a huge mistake way to many problems and not the quality that I am used to from Apple.

Had a similar problem, but the answer is not a good one.
You are going to have to wait until Apple fix this as some 3rd party monitors are not supported by this update.
    So you can:
    Go back to 10.6.7
    Wait for Lion
    or
Use Onxy to clear up your computer and it may link to it again.
I deleted some preference files, which when they rebuilt themselves after a restart did the trick.
It worked for me, let me know how you get on?

  • How to connect Apple TV using redmere hdmi to avr?

I have an Integra DTR-40.2 AVR.
I have an Apple TV 2.
I want to use an HDMI cable with Redmere technology, but I can't seem to get my Apple TV to work correctly.
I have the TV "end" of the HDMI cable plugged into my AVR and the Source "end" in my Apple TV.
    Nothing displays on my TV.
    Any ideas?
    Jim P.

    I have a Panasonic TC-P50VT25
It is connected to my AVR using HDMI1 port.
My ATV was previously connected to my AVR via the PC HDMI.  It all worked just as I wanted but when I replaced the HDMI redmere cable, the ATV is connected to the source end of the cable and the TV end is plugged into my PC port on the AVR I can't get the ATV to work.

  • Apple TV and No HDMI

So we're planning on getting an Apple TV or Roku. I've always liked Apple's products, and would prefer that. One thing though.
Our tv has no HDMI port (Sony Wide Screen KP-46WT500 Rear Projection TV). I've read we can still hook it up with an adapter, but a second issue arose. How would we hook up the audio? I know the Apple TV has an optical input. So how should we go about this?

Using an appropriate adapter or converter, you can connect your Apple TV to any number of display and audio devices imaginable.
Shop for an appropriate "HDMI to DVI with audio" converter with audio outputs appropriate for your TV. Here is one for example:
    http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-DVI2HDMIA-Video-Converter-Audio/dp/B005G3VQ5E/
Monoprice is also a good source for such items. (Edit: this one looks perfect and it's half as expensive: DVI & R/L Stereo Audio to HDMI® Converter)
Do not use the Sony's component or composite video inputs. You will want to pass the digital video signals without alteration. HDMI to DVI is the only way to do that with your TV.

  • Does Apple TV work with HDMI converter boxes?

Can you use an HDMI converter with Apple TV?

Apple sell an HDMI to VGA adaptor here
I've used it and it works very well. Not sure about protected content however.

  • Does apple tv work with hdmi to VGA hd15 cable?

I have a Phillips tv and there is no hdmi to hdmi connection. But there is a VGA 15 input. Does apple tv work with it? I seem to be getting a black screen.

I tried hard. Four different manufacturers, including Belkin, none of HDMI to VGA works with rMBP. However, all of them work with other sources, like Dell notebook.
HDMI directly from rMBP to HDMI intput works fine.

  • Apple TV on non HDMI TV, Apple TV on non HDMI TV

Can I operate an Apple TV device with a non HDMI TV (has Composite, VGA, Scart).
Do I need an adapter (cable) or a converter?

I found a solution on a help-site called Macmanus.nl, it's an even more elegant solution that a regular converter :
    - a cable with an integrated DAC-converter
    - HDCP-compliant
    - tested to work for Apple TV 3
Google for "fixed : using the AppleTV on an HD-ready TV without HDMI-input"

Well, if the symptom occurs only when connected to your SAMSUNG HT-TXQ120, I would say you've isolated the problem and should start there. If available, I would try using component cables to see if the problem persists; do you have an optical cable? Why don't you try using the optical out of the ATV to the optical in of your Samsung and see if you still get the dropouts in the audio. Trying the different connection methods will further help in isolating the problem. It might be a defective HDMI connection. Have you tried different HDMI cables to make sure that's not the problem? Also, how is your ATV connected to your network? Are you streaming content or is it synced on the ATV?
