HT4407 Why do I keep getting a message saying that I'm not connected to the internet when I try to install the windows 7 support software.

After I select to install Windows Support Software on a USB external drive for Windows 7 the computer says I'm not connected to the internet. Obviously I am or I would'nt be typing this message.

OK, for the past 4 hours I've been trying to download something, each time to be greeted with the same message, needless to say rage is building. I have seen many other threads discussing the same thing but an answer has never actually been given. The exact message I get is this;

okay I've done everything regarding the transfer process (via file>transfer purchases) and syncing, so everything on my iPhone device seems to have been transferred to my iMac... however, I still get that message ("There are purchased items on the iPhone..."), trying to upgrade the iOS Have tried several times the same process of hitting transfer purchases via file, but nothing seems to make that message go away! unfortunately no, a million people are attempting to update their phones right now, and thus activate them. Patience will have to suffice.

but have still been unable to backup data using the third party software.
TouchCopy tells me I have no photos or Video ad won't alllow me to copy any of the critical files e.g. Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Messages, etc.
Anyone have any other suggestions for backing up my iPhone? Or help using TouchCopy?
If I am ever able to get TouchCopy to work, should I be using Copy to iTunes or Copy to PC option?

The first step is to check and see how much space really is there. From the desktop right click on the drive in the upper right corner (at least it's there by default) and select "Get Info" to see how much space it reports as free.
It's not just media files that eat up disk space, though they are often a major contributor. Do you happen to be running one of the virtual machine programs (Parallels or VMWare Fusion)? When you create a guest drive there you normally have a fairly decent amount of disk space dedicated to it and that can fill the drive.
As well, a quick fix that may buy you some time is to empty the trash if you've not done so recently. Click on the trash folder in your dock and then in the window that comes up select the option to empty the trash.
If you can free up some space, there are programs that will help you find what files and directories are using disk space. I've used Space Gremlin (in the App store) for that sort of thing, though there others. If you run that sort of utlity you'll get some idea about what is really eating up the drive space.

If you are getting it when your iPhone is not connected to anything it probably means there is line/debris that is causing a short between the pins on your dock connector. Get a soft brush and clean it.
