You should visit the Boot Camp forum rather than posting here in the Macbook Pro forum. There are multiple threads about your issue going on right now. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

I presume you are missing SATA driver.
Please check this forum using advanced search option. You will find hundreds of threads where you can read how to install WXP on newer notebook model.
BTW: create recovery DVD before you start to install own OS.

  • Vista basic or vista home premium sp1 for macbook pro

Ok so I got windows home premium sp1 today as i didnt think the basic would work, apparently it will. I am not certain if the home premium would work though because it has sp1. do i need one without it? i have yet to open the box so i can always return it.
All i really want bootcamp(windows) for is to be able to install and play video games that mac's are not able to. So basic would be enough for me yes? Thank you for any help.
EDIT: I have yet to open the windows vista home premium sp1 yet as well incause the vista basic will work(i dont want to spend more then i have to in order to get bootcamp to work just for a video game)

So I go to the city today, from the mac dealer I bought my MBP from, they assured me the XP home edition version they have would work, so go race over there (45min later) and pick it up, store was pretty much closed soon as i left. when i actually take a closer look i see it doesn't have the service pack required for the XP versions. So tomorrow gotta go back to return it I hate my life.
I know this is more less my fault for not looking further, but you'd think the dealer would know the requirements for the new operating systems and how bootcamp works. dfngsdkj

  • 64 bit OS and Applications for Mac Pro

I was all set to replace my ailing G5 PM with a MBP when Apple released the Mac Pros today. I originally bought the G5 because I wanted to be able to run 64 bit software when that became the standard. With the switch to 32 bit Intel chips, I thought that was no longer a concern. With Woodcrest chips in the Mac Pro, however, I guess it is.
When the 64 bit Leopard is released and developers also release 64 bit software, will it all run on the 32 bit MBPs? Apple has said that the 64 bit machines will run 32 bit software side-by-side, but I am worried about compatability in the other direction.
    Dual 2.0 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I'm an active ADC member, paid developer account through for work, though I do not believe it's up on ADC yet to download for dvelopers as preview release. It would be in the next week or so i'd think once they get it out to the higher-priority accounts/users. Apple was giving out a developer preview with all technologies and xcode3.0 and do-ddads to attendees at wwdc today after the keynote. i was lucky enough to be attending wwdc for work with my boss and another employee (at first i 'uged' it, but it is great so far! can't wait for tomorrow).
basicly you are right, its developer only (apple obviosuly and soon ADC members) as well as the dev preview that was handed otu at wwdc today

  • TS3212 running windows 7 64 bit home premium edition, getting installer error when attempting to download itunes

I'm running windows 7 64 bit home premium edition, getting installer error whenever I attempt to download iTunes.  Cannot resolve despite every attempt known to man!  Help!

I'm having the same problem and this is my error message:
    what do I do?

  • Error 1720 when installing CS3 on Win 7 64-bit home premium

I've been directed to the Forum for help as the Support Tech said she could not help me as they only help with CS5.  She said that CS3 WON"T WORK on a Windows 7 machine and yet I have googled and found people who have had it work.  She then told me that they will probably experience lag and other errors once they start using it more fully.  I smelt BS right about then in that conversation.  She couldn't confirm that if I purchased CS5 upgrade that my CS3 upgrade would qualify as upgrade.  Yeah, I'm really going to spend $800 to find out (not).
Basically it ended where I either buy CS5 or go the Adobe Forums for help.
So okay here I am.  Long post (sorry) but want to get all the fact out there.
I purchased CS3 back in 2008 and installed on my XP machine.
Just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit home premium.
Tried to install CS3 and as soon as it tries to install I get this message:
Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue.  Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
Error 1720.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A script required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I have tried the following solutions (found on Google), none of them work:
    1) installing in safe mode (with just Windows features in the start up)
    2) redownloading the files to ensure I didn't have a corrupted version
    3) installing as Administrator
    4) deregister/register Windows Installer
    5) looked for update to Windows Installer but mine is up to date
    6) checked that Windows Installer had "started" on my laptop (yes)
    7) used Adobe cleanup utility
    8) used Adobe licence recovery (Acrobat Pro (CS3) wouldn't get past the licence stage although it did install)
Support Tech lady said that no old CS software would work on Windows 7 BUT last night I installed Photoshop CS Version 8 and it installed perfectly.  What I noticed different is that PS CS V8 used Installshield whereas CS3 I am told didn't use Installshield.
So I am left with my new laptop using PS CS V8 with Dreamweaver MX.
BTW Dreamweaver MX installed okay and it used Installshield too - so is that the reason CS3 won't install - it not using Installshield?
Does anyone have any solutions not tried above?
Am I just going to have to use old software on my Win7 machine?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sarah

    Hi Bob,
    Thank you for your reply.
Yes I have tried the CS5 Cleanup Tool - multiple times.  Doesn't help.
I am surprised to hear that you installed with no problems in light of Tech Support being adament that it won't work on Windows 7 and is not supported.
I told Tech that I didn't accept that as there are probably hundreds of thousands of users with CS3 who have installed or tried to install on a Win7 machine and not everyone has hundreds of dollars spare to upgrade.
I only really use DW, PS and Acrobat in the Suite so I'm going to have to save to buy those products but it won't be anytime soon.
    Thanks.

TID 3437586 mentions registry edit below as a fix for vista home premium,, i don't find this entry in Win 7 64-bit home premium. If i create the entry in win 7 home premium will it work?

You won't find the registry entry because it's not been set and
therefore the default is another value. You need to create it to change
    that value (to the above).

  • Win 7 Home Premium upgrade to Ultimate

If I upgrade my OS, Win 7 Home Premium to Ultimate edition, will my all previous programs remain installed?
I mean do I need to re-install VS 2010,office 2010,HP Laptop pre install programs which are there in the current Home Premium installation.
I will install it from MSDN(I have the MSDN subscription), how I will get the product key?
Also please help me if I need to keep some pre coutions while upgradation.
    Thanx in advance
    Raj

No, you will not lose any files.
Now, if you have "key problems", there are two different kinds of upgrades:  See this post of mine:
    =============================================
Thanks to a wonderfully smart, fast, and calm woman from Microsoft in Cebu for a VERY quick 5-minute and no-cost solution: I also made sure her supervisor got a compliment noted for her. She saved me tons of time and money as well as the angst from the day
    before looking for the answer.
I also had purchased a Windows 7 Ultimate Academic Upgrade CD which I applied to a Windows 7 Home Premium box so that it became an Ultimate O/S - and got a "invalid key" message. I could not find a blog post to fix this and the computer manufacturer told
me to reinstall back to Home Premium. Fat chance...
    Do the following:
    1. Call Microsoft Tech Support at 1-800-936-5700 (or local equivalent), and press 1 for Customer Support. Hours are 5am-9pm Mon-Fri, 6-3pm Sat & Sunday, Pacific Time USA.
    2. Run msdt.exe (Start, search, msdt).
    3. The support person will generate a pass key for you. Type that in the box as indicated.
    4. Download - next - Product Activation - Change product activation - Next
5 Choose "Apply this fix". Next. This will say "Resetting licensing software".
    6. You will then be asked to restart (reboot).
    7. Upon reboot, a window will pop up asking for you to put in the license key (e.g., here, from the Academic Upgrade disk). Enter it.
    8. It will accept it, register it as a valid license key, and your problem will be solved.
    ==========
Otherwise, BEFORE you buy an upgrade, know this:
    1. Academic Upgrade: Normally is to be used to upgrade a DIFFERENT operating system, such as XP or Vista to Windows 7. That is why the upgrade key will not show as valid. The folks at the university
bookstores won't know this, nor will the folks on the academic software websites online. Caveat emptor. Follow above steps from me to call MS support if you do buy this and can't get the key to work. MS was very helpful and understanding, and the "fix" above
    cost me no extra.
    2. Anytime Upgrade ($80-$130 USD online for purchase) - This is the proper item to upgrade one type of Windows 7 (such as Home Premium) to another type of Windows 7 (such as ultimate). This
is for the SAME operating system (Windows 7 variants). Save yourself the time and buy this instead. You cannot get this at a university or online academic store, and it is a retail purchase.
    ==========
Finally, here is another tool to get your licensing info (besides the already-present msdt tool:
Download and run the Microsoft "MGADIAG.exe" tool here:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/F/3/9F3DED28-A521-4352-B8A4-20368D0CC1AA/MGADiag.exe
It wouldn't hurt to email / print yourself a copy of this screenshot for future reference.

    Hi Warren,
I assume you simply plugged the printer without preinstalling any software. Please correct me otherwise.
Please remove the existing device as following:
Unplug the USB from the back of the printer.
Enter Control Panel > Devices and printers
Right click any 1400 printer icon, then click Remove Device.
If there are several icons of your printer, repeat the same for any of them.
    Reboot your PC.
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Left click once any presented printer (e.g. Fax), then click Print Server Properties on the Top bar.
    Click the Driver tab.
If there is any 1400 listed, select it and click Remove.
Select to remove the 2nd option. Remove printer driver and printer driver Package.
Download and install the Full Feature Software for your printer (HP PSC 1400 Series) below:
*Make sure not to connect the USB till prompted to do so during the install.

  • WIN 7 Home Premium and a HP mini 210-1000!

Have mini 210-1000, refurb, came with a WIN 7 Starter, never did check and record the product key that came with...ERROR!
    1.  Went on line 12 days ago and purchased WIN 7 Home premium.  Have spend HOURS on line with MS techs trying to get it to install.  Came here before I waste any more time.
This machine has 1G RAM - CAN it install WIN 7 Home premium?
    2.  Since the last attempted install (MS using PowerISO Virtual Drive Manager (free download ver.), and which was UNsuccessful, my HP and MS now tell me that my WIN 7 Starter is 'not genuine' and they give me several options to obtain the product key.
The product key in control panel/status is not EVEN in the correct format and starts with 2 (unacceptable) zeros...
IF this machine was refurbed by HP or Contractor, does HP have a usable product key to return me to normal operation?  Am having trouble re-reaching the MS tech, I believe HE's out of ideas...
ANYone know a guru ?  Am not quite ready to invest  $$$ to fix a mess that MS started - and it's a long, long story...which takes me back to the original question:  am I asking my Notebook to install WIN 7 Home Premium when it's not able??
Thank you for any help you can provide!

Latest version of iTunes for Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium downloads just fine.  But, fails to install.

Ok...This was very odd.  I left the installation program, in what I considered a frozen state on screen.  After about 30 mins, to my surprise, It installed!  I'm not computer literate, so, I don't know what to say.  But, to just WAIT for it to respond!  Good Luck!

  • Trouble installing Vista 64 bit home premium

I am trying to use boot camp to install Vista 64 bit home premium. The disk is a full install. Boot camp works fine, but when I insert the windows disk and attempt to boot off of it, I am confronted with a screen that gives me two options with no names, labeled only 1 and 2, and instructions to select a CD boot type. However, I cannot select any of them because my keyboard does not work! I have tried several times, with several partition sizes, and even brought out an old USB Microsoft keyboard, which is still not recognized. I have done this with only non-apple peripherals, as well - microsoft mouse, acer monitor, and all USB devices plugged directly into the back of the computer. I have not seen this problem listed anywhere else, so can anyone here help me? I have looked everywhere. Thank you.

It is an issue iwth our older EFI 1.x (or EFI32) and Vista SP1 64-bit that needs UEFI 2.x (EFI64).
Sort of the same issue as the Nvidia 8800GT had to come out in two flavors.
I have Windows already installed, older pre-SP1, and from there I can install SP1 DVD.
At this point, I much prefer Windows 7 over Vista x64 SP1 or SP2(beta). Just runs better. Last day tomorrow maybe to download.
