HT4431 Are RAW files an issue in the upgrade?

It says previous versions of iPhoto cannot support the library but does this affect the RAW files themselves?

No  --  it means that once you upgrade the previous version of iPhoto can not access the library because the format is changed - nothing to do with the contents of the library

Than LR should have brought in the RAW files as well. ACR is the RAW
processing engine used by LR under the covers so anything not supported by
ACR would not be supported by Lightroom.
Are you shooting RAW plus JPEG? By default, Lightroom will stack then
unless you tell it not to. Check to see if there is a small badge on the
preview that looks like two sheets of paper with a number. That is how
Lightroom indicates a stack. You can unstack them by clicking on the badge.
There is also a menu item to stack/unstack photos. Otherwise, I would have
to research but not sure why Lightroom would ignore the RAW photos but
    still import the JPEGS.

Are Raw Files from Fujifilm X-E1 supported? If not, when will they update the list

The answer to your question is currently "no."  Nobody here can say if or when that will change.

  • It seems like there are a lot of issues with the 3GS on iOS 5.1

It seems like there are a lot of issues with the 3GS on iOS 5.1, should I stay with 4.3.5? Part of what worries me is that my business is completely reliant on this phone and the billing and job tracking software I use, so if something were to happen I would be in trouble. Also, myself not being all that tech savy I am wondering if by hooking my iphone up to itunes once every couple of weeks, is it creating a backup file? If I had to replace my phone could I just plug the new one into itunes and have all of my apps and data transferred onto the new phone? I want to get proactive about this so at the very least I'm not tempting fate.
    Many thanks,
    Stephan

Looking around here, what you are going to see is problems. People don't come to forums like this to talk about how smoothly their phone is working.
Backing up every couple of weeks is OK, if you can afford to lose several weeks worth of data.
That's one of the huge advantages of iOS5. Wireless backups to iCloud. Plug your phone in to charge at night, and if you have WiFi, it will back up without the need for you to do anything.  If it gets run over by a truck, you get a new one, restore from iCloud, and off you go.
if you don't update, you're going to start running into problems soon as new versions of many apps REQUIRE iOS 5.

  • Microsoft OneDrive and Canon 70D RAW Files display issue

    Hello Guys,
I have a Canon 450D and I was really surprised that my RAW files (*.CR2) were displayed on Microsoft OneDrive without making a JPG files.
    That's really cool !
Few weeks ago I receive my new Canon 70D.
I have upload my RAW files (*.CR2 also) on OneDrive and the file is not displayed.
To make it easy, you will find both files here :
    http://1drv.ms/1qvndZW
I all ready ask support on their forum : Here
But they ask me to ask you...
By any chance, has Canon changed their .CR2 files format that would explain Microsoft has to update their "Convertor" ?
Thanks in advance for your time !

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Camera RAW is more of a "concept" than a specific standard.   The idea behind a RAW file is that the data unloaded from the chip will not be altered in any way which results in a loss of original data.
JPEG images use a "lossy" compression algorithm which will normalize data when differences are so subtle that your eye probably would not have noticed the difference.  But when images are adjusted, subtle differences may be "stretched" and the loss of the original data can be detrimental to ability to adjust the image later and still get good results.
BUT... since every camera can have a difference sensor, different resolutions, etc. the method needed to decode a RAW file and display the image can be different literally on a model-by-model basis.  When you work with RAW files, you always need the codec specific to that very camera model.... not just "any" .CR2 codec will work.  This is the same with all other brands of cameras as well.
Microsoft does not include camera RAW updates in the default OS updates that you may be applying to your computer on a regular basis (Apple does... every couple of months I get a camera RAW update and if I read the notes, it'll have a list of new camera models on the market for which they've added RAW support.)    But Microsoft DOES make the RAW updates available... they're just not automatic.  You have to go download and install them.
See this link at the Microsoft support website:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2899189
If you look down the page on that specific link, you'll notice a whole list of cameras for which they've added RAW support and the Canon 70D is among them.

  • HT1338 My fuji x100s has RAW file compatibility issue with OS 10.8.2

My fuji x100s has RAW file compatibility issue with OS 10.8.2, my iphoto11 cannot recognise the file format.  Anyone know of this issue too? Appreciate if anyone can offer some helps.  Thanks

Correct.  The Fuji X-100s is not currently supported by iPhoto or Aperture (or the RAW converter in OS X itself).  You can submit feedback via iPhoto and request this.

  • How can I import an Aperture Catalog into Lightroom and retain the RAW file as well as the files with the edits?

I have several catalogs in Aperture that I would like to import to Lightroom 5 and I want to retain the original RAW files as well as the files with the edits.  How can I do this?

Well, you can bring in the raw file (without edits), and you can bring in a rendered RGB file (e.g. jpeg or tiff) with edits baked in, but what you CAN'T do is bring in a raw file, with the non-destructive Aperture edits, and have Lr translate those Aperture edits into Lightroom edits.
Put another way: no raw converter/editor can understand the edits of any other raw converter/editor. So, you have to work with a rendered version, and/or re-edit from scratch in a new raw converter/editor.
PS - it would be feasible to write a rough translator which approximated raw edits in one world into edits in another, but such does not exist yet for Aperture -> Lightroom, that I know of.

  • Are there any known issue with the HP 3005pr USB 3 replicator ?

    Hi,
I recently ordered an HP laptop Pavilion dv6t-7000 with Intel i7 and nVidia video. While the unit isn't due to arrve for about 2 weeks, I'm looking for a docking station/port replicator.
Are there any known issues with the HP 3005pr USB 3 replicator ? Does it fully support Win7 64 bit? I am also considering the Targa U3 unit, but I'd prefer HP if I can be assured that it works.
I'd like to be able to leave the laptop closed when at my desk so I can use  an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Does HP make this device or does a 3rd party make it for them?
I've read so many stories on various forums regarding these things.
Any suggestions from HP or others? I need to order something soon, but I don't want head aches when it arrives.
    thanks,
    Steve

This HP USB 3.0 Port Replicator fully supports with Windows 7 64-bit, if that is the one that you are talking about.

  • I have a site with m4v files that played before the upgrade to 10.6.7, now just sound

I have a site with m4v files that played before the upgrade to 10.6.7, now when accessed the sound plays but no video. Is there a different file type I should create or is this a glitch w/this version? Played before & still plays-Mac b4UG-PC/Iphone/Ipad.

You can click the video link to play or...

Are you using Safari or Firefox? It runs as expected in Firefox, but in Safari I too get just the sound, and going to the m4v link causes the movie to download rather than play (it downloads fine and plays in Quicktime once downloaded). I checked some of my own m4v movies, and they were playing fine in Safari. For one embedded in a complex web page, see here:
    http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/snowleo.html
The next m4v has its very own very simple page, with the movie called using an embed tag with various options set (you can see the details by going to View->View Source)  and also plays:
    http://homepage.mac.com/francines/Movies/duomo.html
There was a problem with a Safari plug-in misbehaving very early in Snow Leopard, but I no longer remember the details. But see this archived discussion:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2158092?start=0&tstart=0
It was a rather complex problem, but I had thought one of the updates fixed it.

  • Are RAW files able to be edited in the Aperture "Free Trial" download

I recently downloaded the free 30 day trial version of Apple's Aperture 3 after purchasing a Sony Alpha NEX-3 camera. It was my intention to use the trial as a tutorial for when I buy the actual program in a few weeks.
During a vacation, I used the NEX-3 to take several hundred photos, with the camera set to take both a JPEG image as well as a RAW image. I then downloaded the trial and set the Import settings to import both files with JPEG as the master. The RAW version of the file, however, will not display -- i get a message saying "Unsupported image format. I checked the Apple list of cameras of which Aperture supports the RAW format and NEX-3 was definitely on the list. However, when I veiw the file name for the RAW version of each photo, it is given thusly in the metadata: (file name).ARW. I am confused...
I would like to begin editing the RAW version of all of my photos before the trial expires. Did I do something wrong upon import? Can I change the file name in my camera so that the RAW photo files import as (file name).RAW instead of (file name).ARW? Is it as simple as the free trial not including the ability to edit photos in the RAW format? Or, am I just missing something simple? Please help before my trail expires at the end of the month...

You need to download the latest camera raw update from Apple.

Hi, is it possible to open a RAW-file from the new Lumix LX7 with Elements 10?
Message title was edited by: Brett N

In the meantime you could use the 7.2 DNG Converter Beta to convert your files to dng copies which pse 10 should open:
Note: you want the 7.2 dng converter beta not the 7.2 camera raw plugin beta

  • Canon G16 Raw File completly shuts down the computer

I am using Aperture3.6 and Yosemite (completely updated) on a 4 year MacBook Air.
I have used Aperture and macs for many many  years and have been shooting pictures in RAW and editing them in Aperture for 8 years. I have a huge library of RAW files in my aperture library.
I have used Canon DLSRs for years and recently traded in my old Canon 550D for a Canon G16 (it is 5 days old!).  When I upload my pictures (RAW+JPG) into Aperture and try to edit or view them (not preview them) about 30% are corrupted (pink psychedelic or black). The others, I am unable to open. Aperture freezes up the entire computer and if I'm listening to music on iTunes the music starts crackling and stopping and then goes dead completely. I cannot forcequit the programs as the computer is completely frozen.
I have changed HD Cards and taken it to the camera shop and they cannot find any problem with the camera.
I've noted on the forum that in 2013/14 peopole reported a few problems with RAW files from the G16 but since then the RAW Compatability has been fixed to include the G16, and it appears no one else is having trouble.
When I reopen Aperture and go to other projects I am able to edit and view tthose raw files with no problem whatsoever. I've created two new libraries as a test (aperture and iphoto) and the problem persists.
Can anyone give me advice as to whether this is a camera issue or a software (aperture/iPhoto) issue or perhaps my old air needs renewing. But it seems strange that when the new RAWS fromthe G16 are opened the whole computer freezes and even effects I Tunes!!!!
    What the F?
    Nate

after much consternation I have discovered that the problem is APERTURE.  Despite claiming that the program is compatible with the G16 RAW files it really is NOT.  I had to download Canon's own photoediting and viewing software....and guess what no problem at all editing, viewing any of the files.
I tried them in Lightroom too and guess what...no problem at all!
So although Aperture has been like an old friend it is time to say bye bye and make the big trek over the Lightroom!
    Sad but relieved.
