You got it with that same apple id thing. You can use different apple id's, but then they will not sync. Apple does allow as many free apple id's as you want, but they are in the business to make money.

One of them can keep the current account.  Since the iCloud email account must stay with the current account, whoever uses it for email might be the best one to keep it.  You can then migrate the other phones to separate accounts, along with a copy of the data.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create the new account and choose Merge to upload the data.
Once all the phones are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts.

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.

  • HT204053 My wife and me are using the same apple id on our ipads, can we have separate icloud accounts?

I want to know if you can have a separate icloud account on your ipad, the account is in my wife's apple id, i want a separate icloud account on my ipad.

If you are talking about Game Center, she can migrate to a different iCloud account and keep her Game Center ID the same (it doesn't need to be the same as her iCloud ID.
To migrate her iPad to a separate iCloud account, start by saving any photo stream photos she wants to keep to her camera roll (unless already there) by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Select (Edit in iOS 6), tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward pointing arrow (Share in iOS 6), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  If she is syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to her so she can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in her new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; this won't effect your iPad), choose Keep on My iPad and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone (if using iOS 7).  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create her new account and choose Merge to upload her data to the new account.
Once she is on a separate account, you can each go to icloud.com from your computer and delete the other person's data from your account.
To avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls, make sure you are not sharing the same Apple ID for these services.  If you are, on her iPad go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID (such as her new iCloud ID).

  • HT204053 Can two people use one account and get face time to each other?

I'm getting a new ipad and I'll be handing over my ipad 3 to my Hubby. I was wondering if we could both share different IDs in the same account and be able to face time each other from my account. Most of his apps where purchased on my itunes for the ipod he uses from my account. Will I need to make him a separate itunes account?

You don't have to create another account - I facetime and imessage with my wife's ipad all the time using one apple id. All you do is on one device check mark one email address in " send and receive " area and on other ipad another adress. So I do that from ***@hotmail to ***@icloud. BTW imessage and facetime have nothing to do with icloud or itunes and to have different id's for icloud would be my recommendation as well.

  • Can one mac have multiple iCloud accounts?

Hi, we have a family Mac, and everyone uses one Apple ID for iCloud and iTunes except for me. I want to get my Pages documents to sync with my phone iPad and the family mac, but the others in my family still need to use their iCloud account too.

You can create separate user accounts and sign into your respective iCloud accounts within your user account.

  • Can my wife and I each have an iCloud Account on the same computer?

I didn't find any information documents that stated if two different iCloud accounts could exist on the same computer (iMac).
Would appreciate and help to answer my question.

Yes,  Just create a separate user account on your Mac for your wife to use.  You can setup Fast User Switching in the System/Users & Groups preference pane
so it's easy to switch back and fourth via the Menu bar:

  • How can two computers in one room have different wireless strength?

I have a Time Capsule that is a few years old. I also have a MacMini that is about 5 years old. I moved the Mac Mini from one side of the room to another in front of the window. When the Mac Mini was in its old space the wireless strength showed all the bars. Now that it is in the new area it shows 2 to 3 bars. What makes it even stranger is if I am using my Macbook Pro at the same time the other computer is on even in another room it has the wireless strength showing all the bars. How is this possible? Why is this happening? What could be causing this problem? Help!!

There are 3 antennas on the old TC.. around the 3 sides.. none in the front where the ports are.. Wireless is highly affected by location and how many antennas it directly sees.. if there is any material in the way of direct line between the two.. any metal wlll reflect signal.. that includes the metal frame inside the TC and the metal parts inside the mac mini.. so small orientation changes hugely affect wireless.  !!
And water like dampness in bricks.. or even including the meat popsicles hitting the keyboard, sitting between the TC and the client computer will absorb the wifi. You are after all 50-70% water.. all wifi takes place in direct line.. get into the line and your body will be the barrier. The antenna in the Mac Mini are also located somewhere probably around the sides.. make sure you align them so a person can see from one to the other and orientate it so the antennas (hidden) can see each other.. plastic is invisible to them. With nothing in the way.
Laptops have better spaced and superior type antennas.. and probably a totally different wireless card.
It will also depend on the band it uses. A 5year old mini .. is that G or N wireless?? If N wireless then it is probably single band ie 2.4ghz.
The laptop if recent may use either 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
So you see there are many factors.

  • Can two people switch iPads (from same base iTunes account) without losing data or settings.

I am going to trade my nice new 32 GB iPad with Verizon LTE to my wife for her original 32 gb iPad that is just about years old.  She likes the trade but neither of us want to lose data or settings.  Will backup and restore work reliably?

I am resonding to my own reply since I just tried to do the ol switch.   Moving from the original ipad to the new one was not a problem.  I backed everything up and I wiped the new ipad and restored it as my wifes.   I then wiped the old ipad and tried to restore it with my back up and no go.   The new ipad had iOS 6 and the old one is iOS5.1.1 so the back up would not restore on the old one.   My backup still sits on the iMac wiating for an ipad.  fortunately building the old ipad from scratch wasnt too bad since i really dont use it for much.  I'll just have to work harder to replace my high scores on bejeweled and plants vs. zombies...

  • My wife and I were sharing the same iCloud account. we now have separate iCloud accounts, I've switched over iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, but I can still see her old iCloud Tabs that were in her iPhone before we switched iCloud accounts. How can i fix this

I have also turned off iCloud on my iMac, donme complete resets with clean fresh restores on my iPhone and iPad but her old iCloud tabs are still there?

THis is an example. It's available with iOS 6.x and Moountain Lion. It's the iCloud icon that you see in the Safari toolbar.
It allows you to view any page that's open on any of the devices using the same iCloud ID

If have separate iCloud accounts and want to keep your all your iCloud data separate, you can create separate user accounts for each of you, then sign into your individual iCloud account within your user account.
If you want to just add both iCloud calendars on your Mac, you can sign into one iCloud account in System Preferences>iCloud, then add the second account in System Preferences>Internet Accounts>iCloud and only check Calendars with this second account.

  • HT4436 How do I set up a separate iCloud account ?, at the moment my wife and myself share the same iCloud account, even though we have different iTunes accounts on the computer.

I'd like to have separate iCloud accounts for myself and my wife, at the moment any photos, calendars etc transfer to our iPhones & iPads from each other. I'd rather not have this as its a nuisance when we receive items that one of us doesn't want!.

  • Need to have a separate iCloud account for daughter's iPod touch

I would like to manage all my iOS devices under one appleID, but with separate icloud accounts for my two daughters, each with their own iPod.  How do I retain my Apple ID on daughter's iPod but have a separate iCloud address so that she doesn't receive my Messages, etc?
    Thanks in advance.
    CN

You'll have to have separate iCloud accounts to have separate email addresses.  You can do this and still share the same iTunes account for purchasing.  There is no requirement that they be the same ID.
To change the iCloud ID on each of your daughter's devices, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  If she is syncing any data with your iCloud account, when prompted about what to do with the iCloud data be sure to select Keep On iPod.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  If they have any of your data in their new accounts, go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each of the accounts separately and delete it.
To prevent getting each other's text messages, use separate IDs for iMessage as well.  If you are currently sharing the same ID for iMessage, on each of their devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.
