HT4436 How do I move my icloud primary email address to a different apple id

I set  up my wifes icloud account on my phone but thought i had sighed into her id but was still under mine, can i move the primary (.me or .icloud) addresses over to her id?

"set up my wifes icloud account on my iphone" - do you mean that you created a new ID/account using your phone, or did you try logging into her icloud account on your phone but it's still logged into your account?  I'm a bit confused.
At any rate, if you created a new account, say [email protected], that is intended for your wife, but accidentally did this in your account (thus you created an alias), then no, you can't move xxx to another account.
And what do you mean by "move the primary ... addresses over to her id"?

If you want to migrate your data to a new iCloud account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.

I recently updated my primary email address associated with my Apple ID account.
Now when I go to App store on my iPad it still tries to login to the App store using the old email address I had associated with the account, and naturally my password doesn't work. I can't figure out how to tell my iPad to login using the updated email address.
So in effect I'm locked out of the app store and I currently have 26 updates waiting.
I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting my IPad to iCloud with no luck.. However I cloud happens to show the correct/updated email address.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
    Thanks

Did you change the email for the Apple ID or did you create a new Apple ID? A new Apple ID cannot be used with content that was bought using a different Apple ID.

  • What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?

I wish to completely de-activate my @hotmail email address in order to be left with just my @icloud email address becuase I would find life more managable that way.
I found out that I cannot change my primary @hotmail email address linked to my Apple ID with an @icloud email address as it is an active, separate Apple ID (in itself with a separate purchase / download history etc)...
Also I am aware that separate Apple ID's cannot be merged together...
My question is: "What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?"
Would I be able to keep and use my purchases, provided they are backed up on my Mac and authorised?
Would I be able to update those transferred purchases even though the email address linked to the apple ID in which the app was bought no longer exists?

You can change the primary e-mail address associated with your Apple ID, so long as it isn't a mac, me or icloud email.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
Your Apple ID account, regardless of the primary email, can never be 'deleted', just abandoned.
You could always just switch between the two Apple IDs as needed, to access the different purchases.

You must be talking about email aliases.  Log into icloud.com with a browser, go to the email page and click the cog wheel icon in the upper right.  Go to preferences>accounts.  YOu can define aliases there.  Note that they must now be @icloud.com named emails.

  • How do i delete the primary email address associated with my apple id?

My husband deleted the Outlook email account that was associated with my Apple ID as the primary email.  I have two alternate emails also associated with the same Apple ID.  How can I delete the old, Outlook email and use one of the alternates as a primary?  I have tried to do this under "manage my account," but there is no option to delte the primary and select one of the alternates in its place.
I also cannot receive confirmation emails from Apple at the old, primary email address because it has been terminated.  Other Apple help posts indicated this could be a problem, as I need that old account to receive emails pertaining to a switch.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Apple ID and iCloud: Primary email address?

I have an Apple ID, (for the sake of example) [email protected]
When I signed up for iCloud with that Apple ID, I activated Mail & Notes, which prompted me to add a new @me.com email address to my account; I chose (for the sake of example) [email protected]
That new address I added for Mail & Notes, [email protected], currently shows up as an "alternate" email address when I log in to manage my existing [email protected] Apple ID.
When I try to change my "primary" email address to that new [email protected] address, I get the following error, which seems outdated as it still refers to MobileMe:
"You cannot create an Apple ID using a MobileMe account. If this is your email address, it is also your Apple ID."
How can I make the new [email protected] the "primary" email address on my Apple ID, so that correspondence from Apple no longer gets sent to my Gmail address, but instead gets sent to my new iCloud address?
Who else is experiencing this issue?

I had a mobileme account which I decided to just abandon and start over (granted I lost the increased disk space -- but that wasn't going to last anyway and I wanted to see if could live in the size they gave me.)
I created a new non-me.com address as my appleid and since my contacts, calendars, etc. are on my mac, they synced to the new account.  The contacts were automatic.  The calendars I had to 'export' from ical and then once I added the icloud account, I imported them.  volia!  data transferred!
I logged out of mobile-me before I started and any questions of keep or delete I answered 'keep'.
Now from reading this (not that I've tried it), sounds like once you have a non-me.com appleid, you can add a me.com id as your email in some kind of transitional hack.  Perhaps once you have setup the non-me.com id, you can delete the me.com address you were using and then re-add it the new apple id you just created.  I don't really expect that to work as I'm not sure you can actually delete an appleid, but it might be worth a test?
If you get both accounts setup in Mail, you should be able to transfer the mail messages by dragging from the old account to the new icloud account (drag 'n drop em).
Personally, I'm still using google for email until icloud gets its act together, so I don't know if this will work.  After reading this pain, I'm glad I just decided to start clean.
Let us know if you try this and it works for you!

  • HT4436 How do I change my iCloud primary account?

I am trying to change my iCloud primary account and can't find where to do that I have read all the help menus but no luck.

If you mean you are trying to change the primary email account associated with your iCloud ID, you do that as explained here: Change your Apple ID.  Before doing this, be sure to turn off Find My iDevice on all your iOS devices, and Find My Mac on your Mac.  Then you can change the ID as desired.  After changing it, you will have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out, then sign back in with the changed ID, then turn Find My iDevice back on.  On a Mac, you would need to go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the changed ID and re-enable Find My Mac.

  • How do I move an iCloud email address to a different Apple ID

I have been previously using an iCloud email address with an Apple ID which is my parents. I now have a new device (new iPad for Christmas ) and am using my own Apple ID. I want to transfer the email address I previously had to my new ID so I own it, and can disable it on the other ID. It doesn't look like this is anywhere on the Apple support site and a web search hasn't led to anything.
I wonder if it would be possible to delete the email address from the previous account, and then register the name on my new one - i.e. just release and then reclaim it rather than transfer it.
I have been using the address for some services already so it would be really great if i could keep it exactly the same and not loose associations.
If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful for the advice.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Sorry that's not possible, you can't transfer the iCloud email address.

  • How do I change my @icloud e-mail address associated with my apple ID

My apple ID is not an @icloud address (it is @yahoo.com).  Curretnly I have an @icloud e-mail address associated with this account.  If I log onto icloud.com with my @yahoo Aplle ID,  it will show the emails that I have received from my current @icloud e-mail address.
    How do I:
    1) create a new @icloud e-mial address and
    2) replace the old @icloud with the new @icloud
    3) forward e-mails from the old address to the new one and then, evetually delete the old one.

Once you have created an iCloud account and chosen an @icloud.com address to go with it you can't change the address (short of creating an entirely new account).
However, all is not lost. You can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) Once you have created an alias you need take no further action to receive emails to it; messages to either the primary address or the alias will turn up in the inbox, and you can choose which you use as the 'From' address when you reply.
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account or move it to another account.

  • How to I get rid of old email addresses connected to my Apple ID?

Apple is always serving up old email addresses and asking for passwords. How do I delete these old email references on my apple account?

Apple is always serving up old email addresses because you have downloaded apps with more than one Apple ID. All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps. It is not possible to merge or transfer apps downloaded with one Apple ID to another.
