HT4436 icloud sign in problem

when I try to sign in to icloud through Preferences, i keep getting a message that says, "You can't sign in at this time. Try signing in again." Besides being contradictory and making no sense, I know I am using the correct id and password. Anyone know what to do? txs

Hello siltaram,
Thank you for the question.  You can establish your Apple ID as an iCloud account on an iOS device with iOS 5 or later or a Mac with OS X Lion or later:
How do I sign up for iCloud?
You can sign up for iCloud on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or through System Preferences on a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later. Just follow the setup instructions for your iOS device or Mac.
You may need to verify the email address that you use for your Apple ID. See Frequently Asked Questions About Apple ID for more information.

  • IPhone 4 with iCloud sign in problem.

I have an iPhone 4 which has had issues connecting to wifi networks. It works some of the time. I guess it has been dropped a bit.
Recently it's not connecting at all, which is not normally a problem. I only use it for music, notes and phone functions.
What's happening is that it is coming up with a screen asking me to sign into iCloud. I type in the password just to get rid of the screen but, as its not connecting to a wifi network, its not going through. So I have this annoying sign in screen popping up every 5 seconds or so, literally.
I have done a soft reset. No joy.
I have tried to reset it with iTunes but iTunes tells me I have to turn off Find My Phone, which I can't as it either wont connect to the network (the network is working fine, the phone just cant see it) or the iCloud sign in keeps popping up and not allowing me to put in my password in the reset/Find My iPhone window.
In short, I have an iCloud sing in window that has turned my phone into an annoying brick.
I have done a backup yesterday, I just need (I think) some way of force resetting the entire phone without going through a sign in proceedure.
    Any suggestions?

Nope. I have a phone only service.
I am currently trying a force reset. I found out, using "The Google", that I can do that by releasing the top button while doing a force restart and keeping the home button down. I have been able to reset the phone and am doing a restore now. Mind you, it won't help if that **** iCloud window pops up again....

  • ICloud sign in problem! -maximum number of free accounts have been activated

I want to sign in to iCloude account on my iPhone but it shows that the maximum number of free accounts have been activated in this iPhone. what should i do now? I am trying to sign in with the same id I tried previously!

    Keith Kizer wrote:
but how can we access iClous if always telling that the maximum number of free accounts on this iPhone is activated already..???
It should only do that if you go down the "create a new account" path, not the "enter an eisting Apple ID and password path.
i tried to restore my iphone also but still it always appearring the same thing when i want to sign in on iCloud.
Each device only gets to create so many free accounts, Restoring it doesn't change that.
For my suggestion only Apple should look for solution to it.
Apple wants it that way. I'm sure they could "solve" it if they saw it as a problem.
One of my apps also is not working properly
You should start a separate thread for that issue. Please give more details.

  • Icloud sign in problem

Help?  I can't sign into icloud.com on my pc.  Message says: "icloud has stopped responding.  An error prevented this application from working properly."  I had this problem before but I don't remember the solution.

No, but do have the latest version of Internet Explorer? If yes, but it still doesn't work, then try if it works with another browser like Firefox or Chrome.
    iCloud requirements for PC:
Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows 8
    iCloud Control Panel 3.0
    iTunes 11 or later
    Outlook 2007 or later2
Internet Explorer 9 or later, Firefox 22 or later, or Google Chrome 28 or later (desktop mode only)

  • ICloud sign-in problems

How can I remove an old Apple ID from appearing whenever I try to sign into iCloud? I do not have the password and have no way to retrieve it. Will restoring my phone to original settings delete the unwanted Apple ID?

Restoring won't help.  If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • ICLOUD Sign out problem

I am running 8.02 on my IPAD. Have recently changed my apple ID and can not sign out of ICLOUD as it references the now defunct old Apple ID

    Hi Paul,
In order to sign out of your Apple ID on your iPad, follow the steps in this article -
    iTunes Store settings - iPhone
If you are using iCloud, you will also want to go into Settings > iCloud > select Sign Out, the last item on the page.

Set up in iPhone.   Go to System Preferences, click on iCloud, get the message "move to iCloud", sign in, click on open iCloud", sign in again, and get only FindmyPhone? Thus, when I go to Iphoto to set up photo sharing, it says I have to have icloud account-go to sys preferences--then i go through the loop again?  Suggestions?

Now I have to get my sign-in for mobileme to be the same as my sign-in for Itunes, etc. so I have only one Apple ID!
You're not going to be able to: you can't merge accounts or transfer iTunes purchases from one Apple ID to another: but there is no problem about using two IDs.
Use your ex-MobileMe email address (which is also an Apple ID) for iCloud for syncing email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and PhotoStream.
Use your other Apple ID as before for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match.
There's no conflict about doing this, and you won't even notice as Keychain will log you in with the correct ID in each case. It's also better security not to have your iTunes login also your email address, given the number of complaints about hacked iTunes accounts.

  • Why can't I get iCloud Sign In to go away?

How do I get iCloud Sign In to go away.  I type in Apple Id over and over and it does not recognize.  It also won't let me connect to the Internet.  I tried resetting all settings and I have rebooted.  What else can I do?

iCloud sign-in box has my old email - new one was updated online but did not update sign-in box??

You have to sign out completely in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud on all your devices and then sign back in again.

When I try to setup my new iPad air, I go through all the steps for the iCloud sign-in and choosing security questions and what not. But after I hit the agree to the terms and conditions... It says Apple ID could not be created because of a server error. Have no clue what to do... I've restarted the iPad and get the same message. But my internet works just fine.

    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • HT4864 Thank you! This may sound lame but are these instructions for the blackberry? I'm receiving iCloud emails without problems on my MacBook Pro and I'd rather not mess w/ settings there.

You don't need to start a new thread to continue a conversation, you can just tack onto the original one. The settings I referred you to are for the Blackberry, since that's the device which is not receiving mail: anything which is working can be left alone.

  • I changed to a new iphone 5, but it keeps coming up with my old Apple ID FOR iCloud sign in. My Apple ID is correct for iTunes and App Store and on my ipad. The user names stays greed out on the iCloud sign in and I can't change it.

I recently changed from my old Iphone 5 to a new one. The Apple ID that comes up when signing into iCloud is my old Apple ID, yet the correct one is shown on iTunes and apps. I can't change the Apple ID to the correct one, and am unable to restore my latest back up from icloud. I have tried everything, but I can' t change the Apple ID on the phone. It stays greed out. My Apple ID is correct on my ipad and when I log into my iCloud account via the internet. How do can I fix this?

Skip the iCloud sign in for now.
Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages.  This should also sign you out of iCloud.
Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
    If that does not work
    Skip the iCloud sign in
Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
Change your Apple ID to the old one
Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.
Sign into iCloud on your device with the correct Apple ID and password

Looks like I have the same situation on my iphone.
The only option I'm being given is to create an lCloud account.
    Any guidance? Thanks.

The last thing you want is a second iCloud account. Try logging out and back in in System Preferences. If that doesn't work, I'd get AppleCare on the line.
