HT4436 Windows 7 or Windows 8 and iCloud
Why can't I sign up for iCloud on my Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC? If I can download it on a PC, I should be able to setup my account that way!! What gives? And will I ever be able to setup an account without buying a Mac or an iPhone??
Because iCloud is a free service for Apple customers, and Apple provides the plugin for people that own iPhones, iPads or iPod Touches who use a PC for their computer.

Windows 8.1 and icloud doesnt sync photos
Just installed icloud to my windows 8.1 laptop and it doesnt sync photos at all with my air2 (8.1.2). I have tried to sign in, out, middle, top, bottom, front, behind or whatever... Changed compatibility to Win7 etc. Turned off/on icloud sync/photos/streams/etc. I dont see those pics (added to icloud folder from my pc) in icloud.com either. It's only showing pics from my air2 but it doesnt even sync them with my pc.
Is this icloud a joke, or am i missing something?What I have tried so far:
A possible solution (didnt work for me):
1. logget out from icloud (in win8)
2. Went to c - users - *current user* - AppData - Roaming - Apple computer -> Create a folder called "MediaStream" (it didnt exist).
it didnt work.
Tried this again, but now deleting all files from the existing "MediaStream" folder. And then logged back to iCloud. (Didnt work.)
Another possible solution (didnt work either):
1. tried to change permission for iCloud photos (unchecked the tap "read only")
Finally just another possible solution (didnt work either):
1. unchecked Photos from iCloud control panel
2. Logged out from iCloud.
3. Created a new folder c:\Photostream
4. Logged back to iCloud and change the Photos location to that newly created folder "Photostream"
AND the funniest part - I dont see "My photo stream" photos in iCloud (web/ipad) BUT they are somewhere becauce they come to my iCloud in my computer when i open iCloud (even if i have deleted it and remains (files/folders) from the pc and installed it back)... There is 31 photos on somewhere which dont exist in iCloud (web or ipad). -
ITunes on Windows 8 PC and iCloud
My iTunes library appeared on my Windows 8 PC when I downloaded iTunes for the first time. I purchased a track and wanted to synch my iPod. The computer wouldn't recognize my iPod. At first since it was a new PC, I thought there was a problem with the USB port but my Kindles were recognized. What I didn't understand was that each and every playlist had to be downloaded to my PC. I didn't understand what a cloud with an arrow meant until I called Apple.
However, what I also just learned was that I had about 100 duplicate tracks in the Cloud. iTunes Match said I had 705 songs but my iPod only showed 638 songs. There are many reasons for duplicates to appear in the Cloud but I think Apple could do a much better job of eliminating this duplication. I had to go to my Library, change the view to show all duplicates and manually right click on each song to get the option to hide the song in the Cloud. A good thing I didn't have 2,000 songs.Do you get an error message when you try to install iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

I am trying to upload photos from my Windows 7 desktop, and was told to go to the iCloud control panel and drag the photos into the
upload to photo stream icon. I have downloaded the contol panel several times and cannot find the icon to get this done. HELPIf you're trying to add photos to photo stream on your PC, you drag them to your photo stream uploads folder (normally My Pictures\Photo Stream\Uploads).

Hi,
I just try to install the setup download from apple website for iTune and iCloud.
During the installation, there was error message prompt out "There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I am using Window 7 32 bit. I have try several time for install, but the result is getting same error message.
Anyone can help on this??????

JustinI have also tried extracting the individual components to the temp file and attempting to install them individually despite being unable to remove the previous install of Apple Software Updater. The outcome, both Apple Software Updater and itunes encountered the same error message during the install process.

I recently replaced the hard drive on my Windows 7 computer and in the process lost all my music. I think it should be on the iCoud. Can I get it back from the iCloud to my computer? Or can I "reverse-synch" FROM my iPhone TO iTunes?
All the music you purchased from iTunes can be re-downloaded, all the music you acquired without purchasing from iTunes can be accessed using Senuti (not free). The combination of these 2 will get your music back.

I am using Windows Vista with Outlook 2007 and iCloud. Everything has been great until this morning. I'm suddenly getting the message "Set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. I tried running the repair utlity to repair the iCloud however I am still getting this error message.
I tried rebooting. It didn't change anything.

This fixed the issue:
1. sign out of iCloud. (make sure you are really signed out or it won't work!)
2. open Outlook and make sure iCloud is not listed in Account Settings
3. close Outlook
4. sign in to iCloud and let it set up Outlook sync
You shouldn't need to reinstall anything. Just remember that when you first look at your calendar/contacts in Outlook it will default to show your Outlook (saved locally) calendar and contacts. You may need to select iCloud to see them. -

What you have experienced, though annoying, doesn't necessarily mean someone has hacked your account, though if you were finding that you were blocked because the sending limit had been reached that might indicate that you had been hacked.
What can happen is that when people receive emails which appear to come from their own address but they haven't sent they naturally tend to be concerned: however it's most unlikely that anyone has hacked their account, they've just been targeted by one of two common spammers' techniques: both arise because it's all too easy to forge the 'from' address on messages to be something other than the real one.
There are two methods. One is that the sender has forged the 'from' address to be the same as the 'to' address (so other people will see it coming from themselves, not you), presumably in the hope of confusing spam filters. It's harmless, if extremely annoying. Delete it (never ever answer spam or try to unsubscribe from it), and you don't need to be worried about it.
The other problem is that a spammer is forging your address as the 'from' address on a whole batch of messages. The first thing you hear about this is when you start getting bounce messages because the spam has been sent to non-existent addresses and is being bounced to you. There's no point at all in responding to it. It's infuriating but normally stops after a bit as they move on to another forged address.
There isn't really anything you can do about it: closing the account isn't really worth the hassle unless you are totally swamped, because you will have to tell everyone your new address. Apple can't really do any more than they already are about spam. However changing your password on general principles is a good idea. -
I have downloaded icloud to my Windows 8 PC and have tried using my Apple ID to sign in but it says it is not an icloud account ID
I have the same problem and unfortunately the only way to get an iCloud ID is to set one up on an Apple device that uses the Apple OS opperating system. If you don't own one, or can't qfford one, then you are simply shut out of using the iCloud. Does it suck? Yes. Is there any solution other than buying an Apple device? No.

Using windows 8.1 and outlook 2013 with iCloud Outlook Add-in so that my iPhone 5 will sync with outlook. Now reminders work on iPhone 5, but don't work in outlook 2013. Help, I've tried everything I can think of or found on the internet.

Please follow the steps below to make sure the reminders have been enabled in Outlook:
On the File tab, click Options.
Select Advanced in the Outlook Options dialog box.
In the Reminders section, select Show reminders.
Click OK.
