HT4437 Picture Quality with Apple TV

Why does my picture on my TV have such poor contrast when I use Airplay?

Airplay is a system designed for a wireless stream of picture/display, not a hardwire connect like HDMI which usually conveys a better picture.
If you are having trouble with contrast issues of any nature, try configuring your actual TV's picture settings and then try the Airplay mode.  Usually, when in Airplay, it has the potential to mess up the built in contrast of the TV, so please try configuring that and let us know if the problem still persists.

  • Netflix picture quality through Apple TV?

Is the picture quality of Netflix high definition through Apple TV?

Not all Netflix content is available in HD but for those that are, yes they will show as such on ATV. Note: this is dependent on your internet connection. Since Netflix uses variable bit-rate, if you have a slower connection (or interference) there will be degredation.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

If the iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one at no cost

  • Poor quality Video, picture pixelated using apple tv

Hi, I can stream video like bbc iplayer using apple tv2, from my iPhone 3GS and my ipad2. Moving pictures ( video) tends to be very pixelated to fast the image the worse it is . Still photos are good and the sound is perfect.. Wifi is from BT with router hub 3   The picture quality is the same using wifi or Ethernet cable. Is my problem with the hub ? If so can you recommend a router that is comparable with BT and apple tv?

I have a largish house and use a number of wifi base stations to compensate for both the distance and the fact that I often have quite a lot of network traffic.
At first I found the quality of the video very good, but I then switched the networks the devices were using so that instead of using the nearest base station they were using the furthest one away, at which point I got pixelation too.
    That's useful info.
Sounds as though Airplay does have rate adaptive video quality in this case?

  • How can I lodge a complaint with Apple about quality of products?

I am about to purchase my fifth or sixth charger for my 13' macbook... of this last year and a half!! I am so unbelievably frustrated with the quality of my charger and the fact that these have to be replaced so often for products that, in just a few months, will stop working. How can I get in touch with Apple to file a complaint of this nature? None of the numbers listed on the contact website correspond with the nature of my complaint.

lehath9, I don't know if this is the issue you're referring to, but I, too, am terribly frustrated by the amount of money I've spent on genuine Apple chargers in the last 18-24 months.
I believe the quality of the chargers has declined significantly and have had to replace, several times over, the chargers that came with my 2nd generation iPad, my iPhone 4S and the latest iPod touch.  The cables/wires are breaking and fraying.
I thought perhaps I was being too rough on my cables somehow the first couple times that it happened, but I know that's not the case now.  For comparison, the cables that came with my first two iPod classics and my first Nano are fine. I also took an informal survey via Facebook to see if others have noticed the same issue and got about 20 affirmative responses, all of which stated the problems started with chargers sold in the last 18 months.
I've purchased four replacements in the last six months and the third of those 4 is now broken, exactly as the previous 2 replacements and exactly like the three before those.  The rubber/plastic casing for the wires pulls away from the non-USB part of the charger (the end that goes into your ipad/iPhone/iPod).  Once it pulls away the wires are no longer supported and they start to hang at an odd angle (no matter how careful you are plugging, unplugging and positioning the charger in the device) causing them to break and of course preventing a charge from reaching the device.

have a problem with my MacBook Pro.5,3 and monitor.  Intermittently, the desk top screen becomes broken up into vertical sections, which appear in the wrong order, creating a haphazard picture.
The Apple icon, usually at top left corner, appears in top right corner  in a strip including all that left hand.  When the computer is restarted, the screen goes back to normal.  But I have to move the mouse to the far left of the screen and then up until it reappears on the far right hand side of the screen so that I can hit shut down button.
It seems to happen randomly though always on desk top and sometimes when I move mouse and computer switches on from rest mode.   My large flat screen is relatively new.
The video card on this computer, which is approximately two years old, is Nvidia FeForce 9400M.
Any help would be welcome as my usual source of assistance is not available and I am not well versed in workings of the Mac although I have used one for many years.

That sounds like a Hardware problem.
You may be able to confirm that with Apple Hardware Test, or make an appointmenst for a free Genius Bar evaluation.

  • Picture quality in my apple tv

due to lack of space I had to move all my pictures from my G4 to a iomega external drive, and after I did all image quality was lost while viewing pictures in my apple tv. Pictures and TV shows still have good imaging, is just the picture quality that I lost.
    Help¡¡¡¡¡¡

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
Sounds rather strange, there is nothing that I know of that would degrade a picture due to its location. What photo management software do you use, are you sure you moved the correct files to the harddrive.

At what point is the video quality bad?  Is it bad on capture?  I would recommend using an s-video 1394 firewire converter instead.  They capture the video at a higher bit rate.  If you have a lot of 8mm tapes to capture, invest in a stand alone DVD recorder.  They capture and compress in one shot.  If you need to rip it back from the DVD into iMovie again, I would recommend using DVDxDV.

  • Is it possible for me to replace the present pictures on the Apple TV home page with my own personal pics?

Is it possible to replace the present pictures on the Apple TV home page(floating) with my own?

    Welcome to the Apple Computer.
You can't change the stock photos, but you can add your own and view those instead.
First add your photos, you can do this from the advanced menu in iTunes. Once you've added photos to share, go to settings > screensaver on the Apple TV and select the photos to use as a screensaver.

  • Sound issues with Apple TV show rentals/"choppy" sound quality

I have been renting "Lost" episodes from the iTunes store on my new Apple TV. There is something wrong with the sound quality. It's very choppy. Almost like a fan is cutting up the sound. Anyone else experience this problem? What's the fix?

  • Help me with picture quality for slideshow.

Hi I'm David and I'm new to adobe elements and video editing and am trying the elements 9 trial.
I'm trying to learn the software and thought i'd start witha a slideshow vid with some holiday pics.
My first and biggest issue i've come across is the pictures quality is really lousy when i have added them to the video. even thought they are fairly fine 8 mp jpg pictures from my digital camera and looks nice when wieving them outside of elements. Why and how do i solve this?
Also i wonder if there is a way to preview the pictures in big size before ading them to the timeline?
Can i change the time lenght shown for many pictures at the same time instead of changing them one at a time?
Will really apreciate help on this matter.
    Thx!

Okey I thought that cs5 was the big really proffesional program.
I want to do much more than just slideshow but thought that would be an easy start and i had the fotage already.
I want with more features than moviemaker or similar but having to use another program to not get bad quality pics is not what i expected.
    I'll check your tutorials out.
    Thx

  • Quality difference between picture taken with iPhone 4 and 4S when sent to iPad?

Is there quality difference in picture if it's taken with iPhone 4 and sent to iPad via iMessage or if it's taken with iPhone 4S? Or does the software compress the images so that it doesn't matter if the 4S has better camera because both will be compressed to equally small file size?
At least video quality is compressed so badly when sent via iMessage that it's unwatchable in iPad. Picture quality seems "ok" when sent from my iPhone 4, but I'm thining if 4S would be able to send images in better quality.

Yes, but iMessage will always "optimize" videos (= make the file size small and quality bad), does it make the same process for images too? If it does, then the slightly better camera doesn't matter because both will be compressed to same low quality file.

  • Good semi-professional camera with higher picture quality?

    Hello,
I am developing a series of videos for a state's legal system. As of now, we have no camera. Does anyone have any good reccommendations for a semi-professional, affordable camera with a higher picture quality than a normal consumer camcorder would have? Obviously, price pays a factor in this. If I can't find a volunteer videographer, I will have to do the filming/taping myself, and I am not a videographer by trade. I will also be planning to edit the footage using a final cut editing system. And if I have to do the videographer, I would like to use a camera that isn't too complicated.
    Thanks a lot!

the reason is that many of the online stores are scam artists selling grey market cameras with no extra parts and no warranty
as well if you try to order the "$1600" camera and don't want any of the extras they will force you to get (which come included with cameras from reputable dealers) suddenly the camera is out of stock and they don't know when it will be in, but you can get the US model (which is what the reputable dealers sell for 3000-3600) for about 4000, plus shipping
