HT4437 Set up Apple TV no problem..Music plays just fine..But I cannot play my photos from my MacBook.
I got Apple TV today ..All is fine..BUT I cannot play my photos through the computer to the TV..
I have a MC OS X 10.6.8 all updates are current .. THE ICON THAT ALLOWS AIR PLAY is not on toolbar ..It is on iTunes toolbar..
But not on iPhoto..
Friends have a more recent Mac and it appears on their toolbar..
How do I get the photos form my library to play on the tv through the appletv?
I have been hard wiring the computer to the faltscreen abd wan to do it with wirelss?
ANY HELP APPRECIATED TO THE MAX or MACS.....

Congratulations on your new Apple TV! I found an article with steps you can take to share your photos with your Apple TV from your Mac (the steps say 2nd generation, but these steps also apply to 3rd generation of Apple TV as well):
To view your photos using Apple TV:
To view photos using Apple TV (2nd generation), you need to have Home Sharing turned on in iTunes and on your Apple TV, your computer must be on, and iTunes must be open.
For information about turning on Home Sharing, see iTunes Help.
Open iTunes, and choose Advanced > Choose Photos to Share.
In the window that appears, select Share Photos From, and choose a source from the pop-up menu.
Choose “All photos, albums, Events, and Faces” or “Selected albums, Events, and Faces.”If you chose “Selected albums, Events, and Faces,” select the albums, Events, and Faces you want to stream.
Click Apply.
Using the Apple Remote that’s paired with your Apple TV, choose Photos from the main Apple TV menu, and then choose My Photos.

You also mentioned that you are not seeing the AirPlay icon in the tool bar. The reason you are not seeing the AirPlay icon is because AirPlay Mirroring became available with Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8). The following models support AirPlay Mirroring if running Mountain Lion:
iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)

I can get my music, movies and tv shows to play through my apple tv, but I cannot see my photo stream on my apple tv. What can I do to get my photos to show up on the TV?
I have a mac and wireless internet.Because you've got music and movies streaming to your Apple TV, I know you've authorized Home Sharing under the file menu of iTunes. But under that same iTunes file menu you must also go to the "Home Sharing" pull-down and select "Choose Photos to Share With Apple TV". You can select All photos, or just specific albums. Maybe worth saying again that this is done from iTunes and not iPhoto.
If you've already done this and still no photos on AppleTV, check to see that your photo file names (previously imported into iPhoto) have valid suffixes (such as photo.jpg). Without that valid suffix, iPhoto on your Mac will show the photo just fine (courtesy of the hidden Type Code embedded in the photo file), but AppleTV will not.

I have two IPhones and one IPad all with the same Apple ID. I can call facetime between the two IPhones, but I cannot call the IPAD from either of the IPhones and when I call my IPhone from the IPad it rings my wife's IPhone after briefly calling mine.
Each device needs a separate address. Use an email address (gmail.com) on the iPad.

Hi, I m using an iPhone 4 and my yahoo push email was working just fine but for the last few days I am experiencing some problem that is the emails are not getting pushed , I have to manually fetch the mails. So what could be the reason for this.....I have set the email setting to "push" mode. Moreover I can't edit the mail server address ....current it's on Yahoo SMTP server

Finding my way around my new ipad2. I have an iCloud account to transfer photos from our MacBook to my iPad. Having problems doing this.

1. To download Photos from your Macbook to your iPad you use iTunes to sync photos. And to download photos from your iPad2 to your computer you use a USB cable and iPhoto on your Mac.
2. For Photostream both devices need to be on the same iCloud Apple ID to allow Photostreaming to work. Is that what you mean by downloading? Photostream ismore commonly used to share photos bwteen devices
iCloud is only supported on newer versions of OSX - what version is your Macbook running?
What is the exact problem you are having??

Movies in iTunes works fine but won't play on Apple Tv
So I have a couple of movies that works fine in my iTunes and won't work when streamed in my Apple Tv (2gen)
The first just doesn't start and the second one have audio problems.
iTunes is on a Macbook Pro 15'' Late 2011 high end via my Time Capsule in my Apple Tv second generation
And again, the movies are playing just fine on my computer ... it's when they are streamed that the problem happen. By the way it's not my connection, everything has been checked up on this side... And everything is up to date
Anyone ? ... thanksOOur internet service is not always fast enough to stream directly on Apple TV which is why we want to use AirPlay from the iPad to Apple TV. When we try to play a movie it starts for one second and then crashes out. This does not happen with every TV show - we watched 8 episodes of Season 4 with no problem, but it would not play episode 9 or episode 1 of season 5.

The 169 IP address mans it did not correctly negotiate with the router:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

When I do connect the phone. iTunes says back up was interupted and to click to resume, it just then hangs on time remaining without a number? If I dissconnect during this I get Error (-10) I can then access my phone in iTunes and my phone does work? In iTunes I can see all the things that were on my phone, all the Apps/Music/Phots/Other etc.. with their relevant amount (Music 8.2gb/Apps 2.1gb etc...) in the coloured bar along the bottom, so if I then click Apply you would think it would just copy them to the phone. It doesn't as soon as you click Apply the multi coloured bar and catagories changes just to 'Other' and (1004mb) and only the basics are on my phone. No music, no additional Apps and only Camera Roll, not photos from chosen folder.

I subscibed to ITunes Match and all my music has disappeared from my Ipod touch and will only play through WiFi so I cannot play music in my car. How do I get it back please
You'll need to switch off iTunes Match on the device & sync the iPod with iTunes as hopefully you've kept all your music on your PC.
