HT4463 OSX Mountain Lion download fails using MacBook wireless connection

I've tried to complete this download about 8-10 times.  It fails at some point, and there when I restart from Purchases, I have to start from the beginning.  What's going on?  I'm connected on AC power, have PowerSave options turned off so it won't go into sleep, and I've disabled all screensavers.  Yet, when I come back to my download after about ~3 hours (into a 4 hour download), the Mac has been "reset" to user login screen.
Also when the app is downloading, the only progress bar I have is either in Purchases or in Launchpad:  So this quote from your help document is wrong
When you find an app that you like, click Buy (you may be asked to sign in with your Apple ID). For more information about Apple ID, please see this article. When you click Buy, the app will begin downloading automatically, and the app icon will be added to your Dock with a progress bar below the app icon. Once the app is done installing, the progress bar below the app icon will go away.

Je suis sorti de l'AppStore puis ré-ouvert. Je peux reprendre le téléchargement......je croise les doigts

since upgrading to mountain lion my iphone no longer wirelessly connects to my itunes via wi-fi... is there a remedy for this?  thanks

I am also having the same problem since upgrading to mountain lion. The symptom is strange.
If I connect my iPhone/iPad using cable first, uncheck and then check the wifi sync option, and then disconnect the cable, iTunes will still be able to see the devices through wifi. But if I restart my computer, it will fail again. And I am tired of repeating this exercise.
    Anyone has the same problem?

  • How do I Reinstall Mountain Lion on a used Macbook Pro?

So I just recently purchased a 2011 Macbook Pro off of Craigslist.  A friend picked it up for me, installed an extra copy of Windows 8 he had for me under my name, and made sure the OSX Mountain Lion side worked fine.  Somehow, after the first time I restarted OSX it would no longer boot up, but Windows worked fine.  So I booted up in the recovery partition, reformatted the OSX partition, and attempted to install Mountain Lion.
The problem is that I don't have it listed under my Apple I.D. as purchased, which makes sense because the last Macbook I bought came with Leopard.  I tried to buy it on the Windows side through iTunes, but I'm not able.  So my question is can I just buy Mountain Lion on someone else's Mac through the App store under my I.D., and will I then be able to reinstall Mountain Lion through the recovery partition?
Or will I have to resort to resetting my Macbook Pro to factory defaults, losing the copy of Windows 8 I was given, and reverting back to the original OS, which I'm guessing is Lion?

Well, you need to log in to the App Store on a Mac, using your AppleID, and purchase Mountain Lion. Then, on the konked out Mac's Recovery Partition you'll be able to sign in with the same AppleID and download the ML installer you are now eligible to use.

  • HT203421 unfinished osx mountain lion download cannot be located on my mac

Started downloading osx mountain lion from appstore and got to 4.1G of 4.4G before interruption. No icon found when accessing app store's interrupted purchases and no evidence of the downloaded portion on my Macbook pro. New download started when I re-accessed app stores: 1) Am i going to get billed a second time ?and 2) what happened to the almost completed initial download?

    1. When you purchase OS X Mountain Lion, you can install it as many times as you need in all your Macs for free.
    2. If your Internet connection was interrupted and you didn't pause the download or you restarted or shut down your Mac, the download is gone. You have to download Mountain Lion again from the Mac App Store. In order to not lose it, open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar and copy the Mountain Lion installer to another folder like Documents, so you won't have to redownload Mountain Lion anymore

  • HT202159 OSX Mountain Lion download problems

    Hello,
I have been trying to download OSX Mountain Lion from the appstore on my 10.6.8 mac mini but the file stops downloading after about 10mb. I was able to download 10.7 without any problems but I am not able to downlaod 10.8 on either of my two machines. Both stop at about 10mb. Anyone seen this or have any possible solutions?
    Thanks!
    Travis

I have seen this, unfortunately there are 100 & 1 different things that can cause this. If you want to trouble shoot, let's power-cycle both your modem and router and see how that goes.

  • Why isnt osx mountain lion downloading

I bought a Mac App store card for 20 dollars downloaded osx mountain lion. but now its just stuck it only downloads a tiny lil bit then stops. Please help

Depending on your connection speed, it could take anywhere from 1-8 hours to download.  It's a 4GB download.
On the average 3Mbps home network connection, it will take 3-4 hours to download.

  • OSX Mountain Lion download not included on MBPr 15"?

    Hello everybody!
I have a Macbook pro retina 15" and just accidently bought mountain lion via appstore beacuse a thought it was free as my macbook was shipped with mountain lion. I was not logged in on my account so the buy button did say the price, I just assumed it should be free as I already have it on my mac so i pressed it and logged in on my account to proceed the download, I got a receipt of it today.
should it be this way? I just wanted to make and USB bakup of the OS for future needs. It's not alot of money, I just think it is a bit wierd.

Since your system came with Mountain Lion pre-installed you wouldn't use the App Store version as your pre-installed version is specific to that machine.
To get the InstallESD.dmg file for your version of ML you need to redownload it using the following steps:
Restart using Command+R into the Recovery HD.
Plug in an external USB drive with at least 20GB.
From the OS X Utilities menu select Reinstall OS X.
Follow the prompts and make sure you point to the external USB drive to install to.
IMPORTANT: You need to keep an eye on the download and as soon as it finishes and restarts your system (at the black screen), UNPLUG the external USB drive.
After you system restarts and you get to your Desktop, plug the external USB drive into your system and navigate to a folder name something like "OS X Install Data Files". Inside there you will find the InstallESD.dmg file.
Copy the InstallESD.dmg file to your Desktop.
Plug in a USB thumb drive (8GB). Make sure it is formated as Mac OS X Extended - Journaled and with the GUID partition table. This makes it bootable.
Open Disk Utilities; then the Restore tab.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg file to the Source text box.
Drag your USB thumb drive to the Destination text box.
Click Restore. This will create a bootable USB thumb drive with the pre-installed OS X Mountain Lion for your machine
    Good luck!

  • Mountain Lion download fails

My Macbook Air is on version 10.7.5 and I have 2GB of space. I have tried downloading Mountain Lion 3 times now, and it says that it failed every time. Why is this happening? How can I download Mountain Lion? Do I not have enough space?

You have way too little space.  It's strongly recommended that a minimum of 10 GB free space be maintained for optimal system and application performance.  The full Lion install package is 3.77 GB in size.  You'll need to off load enough files to get to the 10 GB free space and then try again.
If you continue adding files to your MBA and get down in the MB range it can come to a standstill, lockup and/or refuse to boot.  Not a place where you want to be.

  • Mountain lion download fails after 53mb

Download for Mountain Lion fails after 53MB, any idea why?

Yes, the area after 53MB has a bad sector on your hard drive and can't write the data any further, this is especially confirmed if you downloaded twice and it stops in the same spot again.
It might be a data cap by your ISP if you have such a thing, or if this only occured once, it could have been a network glitch, try again to confirm. Check in Activitiy Monitor that you have enough free space on the drive, it's ideal to keep below 80% filled on hard drives. If you need to remove stuff, start with Movies copy to a external drive and delete the originals, then reboot so OS X will know the new space is available.
If it stops again, and you don't have any other reason. What you can do is open Disk Utility and select the Macintosh HD partition on the left and Erase > Erase Free Space with the Zero Data option.
What this will do (after some time as it takes quite a bit to perform) is to write Zero's across all the Empty or Free to be overwritten space on your Macintosh HD boot partition (not your data), in the process it checks the write for confirmation (which if it doesn't work) on bad sectors the hard drive will map off that bad sector, never to be written to again.
After this has completed, reboot the machine and try your download again.

  • Mountain lion download failed

I tried to download Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro 3 times and each time it got "stuck" I had it trying for over a half hour each time. I restarted my computer twice. I moved the Mountain Lion icon from the dock into the trash and now that won't even appear. When I go to the App store it says it's on a download.
    Thanks in advance

  • OSX Mountain Lion download Spanish - English

I live in Spain and bought Mountain Lion to upgrade Snow Loepard online via the Spanish App Mac Store.
They emailed me the licence agrremenet and codes to download.
My Aple user ID is English and when I try to see my purchases in the Spanish App Store to download it says that it's not possible wiht my ID (although I was able to purchase it without a problem on the Spanish App Mac store) and tranfers me to the English version of App Store which says I have 'no purchased apps'.
There are also no downloadable versions on the Apple Mac store website as they only have Mavericks availabe to download.
    Can anyone help please?

    There's been a development.
I managed to redeem my order in the App store after changing my ID to Spain.
First problem is they have sent me Lion when I ordered Mountain Lion. And I am bloody sure it was mountain Lion, why would I buy Lion for the same price??? I distinctly remember the picture so no idea how this has happened but it's very frustrating.
Second problem, it's in my 'purchases' but when you try and click on it, it trys to download then nothing happens. When you click on the item it says not currently available in the Apple store Espana!
I would love a refund but fear this could be even more complicated or impossible.
They have already taken the money out of my bank account.
I'm worried about trying to buy it again in case the exact same thing happens.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • OSX Mountain Lion "Install Fails"

Mac Mini Late 2009 [other info: mac osx sits on origional Apple supplied hard disk. Superdrive DVD is now usb attached in its own enclosure. Its slit insude the mac mini is used by a second 1TB hard disk that holds all my data. RAM = 8GB]
I downloaded OSX ML last night & kicked off the install. Checked this morning and the install failed. No meaningful error messages just a "Restart" button. When I hit Restart OSX starts to try and install OSX ML again. This has happened 4 times. Each time the install fails with 14 minutes to go. Having become board with that process the last time around I checked out the options on the Utility menu and selected Restore From Backup. Guess what!? OSX ML tries to install again.  I am stumped!!! Has anyone any ideas that I can try?

go to disk utility and try to repair and verify your boot drive's disk and permissions. try reinstalling.
    if that didn't work
go to where the installer is, right click it and choose "Show Package Contents"
find the installESD.dmg file and run it after you close all other applications. this should run an installer without going to the fabric background with the progress bar.
This may work for you if all else fails.
