HT4489 error uploading vcard to my address book in my ipad

I have been trying to upload my contacts stored on my sd card to my address book on ipad. Everytime i am getting the error
'Contacts could not be imported because there was a problem reading the vcards'
Any one has this issue resolved?

Enable Contact syncing in your Mac's System/iCloud preference pane
and on your iPad.
(Screenshot is from an iPhone running iOS 7)
That will sync the contacts from your MBP to the iPad.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.

Download the "My Contacts Backup" app from App Store to your iPad 2. Make a backup and send it by email to your wife's address. Open this email from iPad mini and tap the attachment to import the contacts into iPad mini Contacts app.

It's time to do Christmas cards and I am no longer using my old PC. Of course I have all my addresses in the address book on my iPad and my husband has an apple computer. I was hoping I could mail him my address book and he could print labels. Oops, I found the answer to my question. Great knowledge base! I had originally imported via the automatic popup dialog box that appeared when I installed TB, and didn't absorb at the time that there would be a way to do an import later, after TB install, too, and even for specific parts of OE (address book vs. mail messages, etc.).
I pasted the link to the "Migrate to Thunderbird" page that includes how to migrate just an Address Book from OE, but the following is all that pastes in: 9723729938

I need to synch my address book from my ipad to my mac. for some reason they are not aligned and I have contacts in my ipad that are not in my mac address book. Cab someone pelase help me. It will not do it through itunes. Is there another way?

Do you have your iPad set to sync? Plug your iPad into you computer then launch iTunes, click on your iPad in the left window then click the info tab, check to make sure the tab is set to sync with your address book.

I get an error trying to use Apple Address Book with Word Mail merge - says it cannot open data file?

I am running MS Word 2011, latest Mac OS, and trying to use the Mail Merge option with the Apple Address Book as the data source.
However whenever I select the Apple Address Book as the data source, I get the error "Word was unable to open the data source".
Anybody got any idea why?

I am guessing you could have solved this little problem already but perhaps someone else may benefit:
I struggled with the same problem - not being able to use Mac Address Book (i.e. Contacts) with Word 2013 for mac mail-merge (on Mountain Lion and, now, on Mavericks) - with the exact same error message reported by Klausngigtoas above .
So I read lots of techie stuff on forums which passed a nice few hours but didn't help. Finally, with slumped, defeated expression, I gave up.
But I just now (such is life) I accidentally stumbled upon the simple solution:
1. Enter System Preferences and click Security & Privacy.
2. Select the Privacy tab and then on Contacts on the left hand panel.
3. In the right hand panel ("Allow the apps below to access your contacts") just tick the Contacts box.
4. And Voilà! - at least it worked for me - hope it does for you.

XML in MS Outlook vCard Contacts in Address Book

I have sent myself a few contacts from MS Outlook using the vCard format and imported into Mac Address Book. However, the Notes field comes in with a ton of HTML or XML looking information, and its difficult to decipher and see my text. How do I clean that up?

I have seen one other thread in these forums (can't remember if 10.5 or 10.6 Mail/AB but certainly within the last 90 days) where a Mac AddressBook user could only send one VCF at a time to an Outlook user -- when Outlook imported a "mega-VCF" it apparently was ignoring everything after the first vcf component of the aggregate vcf file created by Mac. A knowledgeable individual who authored one of the responses in that thread placed the blame squarely on Outlook. Given that to be true, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see that same behavior in reverse, as in your case.

Safari not loading vCard file into Address Book

Sorry, this question should probably fall under the Safari Forum but for some reason the "Post New Thread" link doesn't display in that section for me. Any idea why. Anyways, I have a link on my site to link to a .vcf (vCard) file. But when I click on the file using Safari, Safari loads the .vcf file content into the browser rather than opening the .vcf file into my Address Book. When I try to download the file, the file is converted from filename.vcf to filename.vcf.txt. Any idea why and how to get around this problem?

You’re probably trying to post in a category (i.e. a group of forums). You must go to a specific forum in that category to be able to post there.

Error message : failed to open address book database

On clicking the desktop icon I recieve the message Error: failed to open address book database and my palm programme will not open on my computer. On my hand held Hot Sync Log I have: OK Mail, OK Date Book, Address Book Sync failed, OK To Do 3 messages, OK Memo 3 Messages, Note Pad Syncho failed, OK System.
I have uninstalled and installed Palm twice. Any suggestions would be welcomed!

Error when importing .csv into Address Book. Address,Street etc doesnt show

Can anyone help me?
I saved my excel contact list to either Tab Delimeted .txt or .csv file. Then when i import in Address book as Test file, it does not import the address. And when i click on the tabs to import, it keeps loading and hang.
Even if i dont import the address line, those underlined were not shown even though detected.
My columns are:
First / Last / Job Title / Company / Address / Street / City / _*Postal Code*_ / Country / State / Phone / Work / Phone Fax

Are you trying to import from within the AB application, menubar File > Import > VCards? If so, what happens if, in Finder, you just double-click on the VCF file?

How to exclude the note field when importing vCard into into Address Book?

I am trying to get my contacts from Lotus Notes (Windows) to my Mac Address Book so I can get them to my iPhone. (I know .. it's a bit klugey, but I had to have an iPhone.) When I export the contacts in vCard 3.0 format, send them to my gmail account, and import them into the Mac Address book, it includes odd info in the note field like "CHARSET: windows-1252". I'd like to exclude notes from all addresses without having to go into each individual one in Address Book and delete the notes field. Any ideas?
