HT4489 iCloud login ID

A warning box tells me that my login has to be 21 characters or less for iCloud ID. But the email address I use for my Apple ID has 26 characters. How do I get around this?

Thanks for your help Roger Wilmut1. A quick explanation. The woman in question had 2 Apple IDs and went to the Genius Bar to get this sorted out. They sorted it out but there were a few App casualties along the way. No great drama. Now the Apple User would like to use the same ID for iCloud as the Apple ID the Genius Bar gave her. Why? She's elderly and is finding logins and passwords to be a bit of a chore. Most would agree. Anyway, she's going back to the Genius Bar and will see if she can achieve her dream of a shortened, easy-to-remember, iCloud address. Thanks Roger.

  • How Do I Use Multiple iCloud logins With find my iPhone?

With iOS 6, I was able to link Find My iPhone accounts across multiple devices. Now, with iOS 7, it appears that I can now only keep track of devices that share the same icloud login.
Talk about a downgrade. I regularly use my phone to find my wife's iPad or my son's iPhone. Or should I say, I used to. Now I can only find the phone I'm using.
    Awesome.

Here here!  it seems to me that Apple is looking to get people to have one major iCloud account and force families to buy additional storage..  WIth 7 devices (and thousands of $$$ in devices) I couldn't possibly use one account at 5 gb for back up, 10 GB would be a stretch between my wife and I between our combined 4 devices.  Why would I spend this kind of money again to put my kids in idevices when the BEST security device just got castrated?  Really disappointing.

  • HT1353 Is it possible to have another iCloud login on my unit without me logging into that account?

Is it possible to have another iCloud login on my unit without me logging into that account?
I lost my iTouch4 last June10 after a party. I stayed in a hotel with my team that night when i lost it --- lost in the hotel not in the party. I just got my new iPhone 4S this June25. When i used Find my Phone app i saw that there are 2 devices: ipod (named after one of my teammates) and iPhone (under my name). whne i check the features of my iPhone, the contacts, calendar, bookmarks and apps i downloaded previously on iTunes are sync to what i entered on my iTouch. My teammate told me that he also noticed that on "his iPod" and he dont know why his apple ID was changed to mine.
Is it possible to get that situation? Or is that an evidence that he has my iPod touch 4?  I need help to clear things out. Thanks.

    - I do not understand what yo are seeing with the FIndMyiPod app. That app can set up to find any iOS device. you just have to enter the Apple ID and passwords used for that device.
    - on your computer go to iCloud, sign into your account and go to FindMyiPhone. What do you find?

  • 2 devices, 1 iCloud login

My daughter accidentally used my iCloud login on her new iPhone.  How do we change the iCloud login in she used to a different one without deleting all of the contacts/calendar/photos from my iPhone?  I'm sure it's a simple solution but I'm confused.  She's already wirelessly synced to my iCloud account and deleted all of my contacts once.  Don't want this to happen again.  Thanks for your help!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
just delete the account from the phone (settings > iCloud, scroll to bottom of page). Deleting the account just removes it from the phone, it's not the same as deleting the contacts from the account.

  • I need to change my iCloud email address.  I changed it for my Apple id but I can't log out of iCloud to change it there.  Find my iPad is activated so I can't delete my iCloud account.  I don't have the email address the iCloud login has anymore.

I need to change my iCloud email address.  I changed it for my Apple id but I can't log out of iCloud to change it there.  Find my iPad is activated so I can't delete my iCloud account.  I don't have the email address the iCloud login has anymore so I can't have the password sent there.  To sum it up, iCloud has an old email for the account log-in.  I don't remember the password for the old email.  I have Find My iPad activated so the iCloud account cannot be deleted.  And I am already logged out of iTunes & App Store.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple IDand that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • If I have multiple apple devices and use the same iCloud login on them, shouldn't apple give us more iCloud storage for each device

If I have multiple apple devices and use the same iCloud login on them, shouldn't apple give us more iCloud storage for each device

No. Apple only offers 5 GB of free iCloud storage for all your devices, no matter how many you have got. If you need more iCloud storage, purchase storage.

  • My IPad shows my old iTunes login for ICloud. I cannot remember the old password - is there a way I can retrieve it or reset ICloud login without it ?

I updated my ITunes ID and password, but my IPad2 keeps prompting me to backup on ICloud with the former ID/password.  Support says to delete the current ICloud account, but I am prompted for the former password to do this. I cannot remember the former password nor find a way to retrieve it. How do I either change the ICloud login ID prompt or retrieve the former ID password ?

    Hello alljnii,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPad 2.  I recommend resetting the password for your old Apple ID to resolve this issue.
You can reset a forgotten Apple ID or iCloud password by going to the following link:
    Apple - iForgot
    https://iforgot.apple.com
If you have a rescue email setup for your Apple ID, the reset password email will be sent there and not your Apple ID email address:
When you provide a rescue email address, all future security emails, such as password resets from iForgot, will be sent to the address provided.

For the past two weeks, every time I start up my computer I'm asked for an iCloud login. I've never used iCloud and I'm not likely to. How do I get this login to stop automatically showing up? I'm using an iMac G5 with OS 10.9.4.

One more quick thing first. Hold the SHIFT key this time as you startup and see if that gets you any further (this is called 'Safe Mode' by the way). I'm not too confident that this will work in your case but it's worth a try. If it boots up, go into Disk Utility and repair permissions.
If it doesn't, you're going to have to do an Archive & Install which will install a fresh copy of the OS over the top BUT keep all your users, files and apps in place.

  • Can't use my iPad because of "iCloud login notice"

So... I lost my iPad a few weeks ago on a trip, but got it back from Lost & Found the other day. Yay, I think. So I log in and this "iClould login notice" keeps on popping up. I tap cancel and it pops up. And it does it all the time. Doesn't matter if I force restart the iPad. No change. Also, I have new Wifi with new password so I don't have any internet connection. There is like a second I can do other things between the notices so I manage to access the settings panel, but when I click the Wifi enable button, the iCloud notice disconnects any attempts to connect to the internet. When I access the iCloud settings panel, I start geting two notices instead: "iCloud login notice" and "iCloud can't connect to the internet". DOUH!
So right now my expensive iPad retina is useless.

I am having a similar experience.  Since upgrading my Ipad 2 to iOS 8 and then iOS 8.0.2 I have not been able to use wifi consistently and it is very frustrating.  I can no longer watch any video because the wifi shuts down and won't come back without a complete reboot of the iPad. And forget about consistent bluetooth!  My ipad worked perfect before the "upgrade" to iOS 8 and beyond but now it is really worthless.  I have spent a lot of time and have tried every fix that I have read about online and NOTHING has corrected the problems created by the upgrade.  After spending a lot of time trying to resolve this I am certain the problem is the buggy "upgrade" but I feel like no one at Apple is listening.  I have always loved Apple products but this rotten Apple experience is making me think about exploring what else is out there.  Apple folks, I recommend getting this fixed quick or your stockholders won't be smiling!

  • Changed my APPLE ID - iCloud login failed on iphone - login data cannot be updated!

Dear manufacturers and users of APPLE's hipster devices,
I just changed my APPLE Id & created a new password.
To do that, I've been using my Desktop PC with a standard browser and the official login to the APPLE Id management website: appleid.apple.com ::: I added a new E-Mail Address and registered it as my new APPLE ID. Then I deleted the old obsolete E-Mail Address that has been my my OLD APPLE ID. Now I have a new APPLE ID.
Afterwards, I received an error message on my iPhone.
iCloud cannot log me in anymore, because the iCloud App stubbornly tries to log me in with my OLD APPLE Id.
What made matters even worse is that the login window doesn't allow me to enter my new APPLE ID.
Even after I changed my APPLE ID login data on my iPhone (ignoring lots of annoying iCloud error messages) iCloud could NOT log me in anymore.
"Verbindung zum Server fehlgeschlagen"  [/ "Server Connection failed"]
    What's happening?
Why can't the APPLE ID server simply notify the iCloud APP, about an updated APPLE ID whenever the App is trying to login with obsolete data?
Why cant I simply change my iCLOUD LOGIN DATA in the iCloud settings ??
    NO... It doesn't work_ :
The topic with "ICLOUD / Account" contains my old APPLE ID, is displayed grey and canNOT be modified.
    WHY?
    please... support. !
Do I have to reset my iPhone whenever I change my APPLE Id?! :::
I even tried to DELETE my malfunctioning iCloud Account now.
    NO LUCK.
I have to login to delete the existing iCloud Account... What an irony: My OLD login ID doesn't exist anymore. (as I already explained above.) >.<
... again the question comes to mind:::
Do I have to reset my iPhone whenever I change my APPLE Id on anohter device?! :::
    Is there a solution?
& NO: I CANNOT EVEN CHANGE MY APPLE ID back to the former (obsolete) E-Mail Address that is still registered in my iPhone and obviously cannot be modified in any available settings. (The iCloud App doesn't seem to be informed... even after I modified my APPLE ID login data in my iPhone settings... as I also explained above...)
Who programmed iOS/ who developed the iCloud App?! Can't You guys have a talk and properly integrate Your login procedures..?
    ... help! pls.!

    >> click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. <<
okay... I'm gonna try to *edit next to the primary email account* ... Does it have to be exactly that entry and if so - why not any?
Why can't I simply re-add and confirm my old E-Mail Address and register that new/old entry as my new/old login for APPLE ID?
    I tried that:...I get this:
Just to sum up my problem again for anyone who might have the same or simlar issues:
    In short:
All I did was register a new E-Mail Address as my new APPLE ID (on the apple ID management website).
Now nothing works anymore on my iPhone.
1.) I cannot log in on iCloud.
2.) An annoying iCloud login error message pops up every 3-4 seconds.
3.) I cannot modify the login data in the iCloud settings. (nope: the entry is displayed grey in the settings and cannot be modified... if that would simply work, I wouldn't need any support.)
4.) Even after I properly entered the new data in the APPLE ID login settings on the iPhone -- iCloud cannot log me in and annoys me with error messages.
5.) I cannot even delete the iCould account, because I'd have to properly log in to be able to delete it. (I cannot do that, as I explained above.)
6.) AND I CANNOT change my APPLE ID back to my former E-Mail Address: It simply doesn't work (yet?)... When I try to enter my formerly used (and newly registered) E-Mail Address a message appears: "APPLE ID must O NOT ALREADY BE IN USE!" (marked red... see screenshot above!)
7.) This is weird and confusing... and I honestly believe You have to have a talk with your developers team!
Something is wrong on behalf of Your program behavior... not only in the iCloud App, but obviously also on Your APPLE ID management website!
(I don't wanna sound arrogant... I'm happy You replied so fast, but I think You should do something about the problems I described. Even if Your workaround helps! There's clearly something in wrong in the procedures of Your software.)

  • How can I prevent iCloud login requests?

On OS X 10.10.1, on every login I get two requests to login to iCloud. See the screen cap (email address obscured):
How can I prevent iCloud login requests appearing?
Is it a bug? I'm not an iCloud user. It's annoying and slows down the boot process.

It's a really bad idea to post your email address, even in an image - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.

  • Stop iCloud login popup on startup

Any ideas on why this is happening?
Stop iCloud login popup on startup
This shows up, three cancels to make it go away.

Try logging out of iCloud and then back in again after a restart.

  • Phone 6 icloud login loop

just received my new iphone 6  two days ago. Yesterday, I started having problems with the icloud login window continually popping up. Logging in doesn't stop this from happening. I also have this problem with my ipad, to a somewhat lesser degree. Wi-fi conection is not the problem.

Oh and I was going to do the remove >> com.apple.LaunchServices- uid xxxx << from the library/ caches. But there is none on my 10.6.3 drive. I do see some on my 10.4.11 drive. Should I remove those from the 10.4.11 drive? Are they going to help get my login to go threw on my 10.6.3 system drive?
    Thank you again

  • IPhone 6 randomly requesting iCloud login password

I just upgraded to an iPhone 6. In settings>iCloud I have entered my user/password and can see everything is ok. Randomly throughout the day my phone pops up with a box requesting me to enter my password for the icloud account. I have recycled on/off the iCloud account on the phone. The problem still persists.

The problem is solved: There is an article on a german website:
    http://www.ifun.de/ios-8-1-fragt-staendig-nach-icloud-login-moeglicherweise-ist- ein-grossbuchstabe-schuld-69316/
The problem is the naming of the iCloud/apple-id: You must use small letters. If You are using big letters like [email protected] then You will be asking every time for You iCloud-id password. Solve: logoff from your iCloud-Account on Your iPhone/iPad. Relogin with iCloud-ID with small letters only. Problem solved for me an many other people.
