How can I get my iPhone out of landscape mode and back to portrait? Tilting the phone doesn't work.

    Try following - 1 by 1:-
    * make sure portrait lock is not on & try turning on/off several times
    * turn off mobile and turned it back on
    * hard reset by pressing lock and home at same time
If problem persist, you need to try following but be careful since the following impact your iphone.
    * resetting all setting: this will reset all settings of your iphone back to factory setting
    * resetting all setting by erasing all data: this will reset all setting and erase all data so do back-up and proper syncing and read relevant details
    * restoring from itunes: this will also erase all data and take mobile back to day 1
last 3 options are last resort and only be done if you are sure you can restore your data.
Please don't hold me responsible for any data loss while doing last 3 options
    Cheers!

  • How can i get my iphone, from the disable mode

how can i get my iphone 3gs, out of the disable mode?

If your phone is disabled because you forgot your passcode, restore the phone on the last computer it was synced with. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.

If this method does not work, then you will need to fully Restore your
        device as New
Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software.
If none of the above do what you need, then do the following:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Urgent How do I make my as3 code aware that my iPhone is in silent mode?

I'm developing a game for the app store. AIR 3 comes with
Incredible speed and music in the background but since I've
Updated all my apps completely ignore phone silent mode. How can
I remedy that? I either need the code to be aware of the switching from
Silent mode to normal mode or simply automatically silencing all sounds( just
Like it used to be in air 2.7)
I really need this to work.

by reset option do you mean the DFU restore? worked for me, have you tried that?
if not - hold the lock and home button until the power down bar comes up. then hold the lock button for ten seconds - next continue to hold the lock button and press the home button for ten seconds - next release the lock button and hold the home button for 10 seconds. this should be done with the phone tethered. If done right and your itunes is configured as such, the phone will reload the drivers and start up itunes, and then prompt for a restore/update.

  • How to install applications to remote machines in silent mode?

    Hi All,
I have the following question and I hope to find a creative solution.
My application’s architecture is a client server one.
I would like the server to remotely connect to its clients machines and silently install a client java application for 2 purposes:
    1.     Install new clients on computers that weren’t part of the deployment yet. When the server connects to a new clients he needs send the installation file and execute it
    2.     Updated existed clients (replace jars, configuration files, etc)
My main goal is to do everything in silent mode (without requiring the users to connect the clients and actively install clients application).
Can any of you think of a Java solution for this? I think the first purpose if the harder one so in case I ask my users to install the clients for the first time, how do I silently upgrade their applications when needed?
    Tnx,
    Uri

My concern with Webstart is that it open windows and require the user to do some steps. Like press one button to agree to an update!
Yes, but when you have 1000 clients it is a lot of work.
I would like to have the upgrade process to be done silently. It is this 'silent' requirement that is suspect. Anything silently installing something is dangerous. Are you one of these people who has Windows automatic updates turned on?
Personally, I am not. but it is good to have the option.
    >>
Can webstart run in silent mode? I'm pretty sure it can but I can't be certain and I don't know how to do it since I won't ever use silent upgrades. Read the Webstart documentation.
I can have the server making the client application invoking the URL for the new files (so the user will not have to connect to every client machine and invoke the URL), but how do I do the rest in silent mode?
btw- I can use PsExec to run the installation on new clients (windows only). My main issue now is how to upgrade silently. If you have other ideas than webstart I will be happy to hear.

  • Audio is still working despite iphone is in silent mode

    Hi Guys,
I have a new iPhone 6 with IOS 8.1.2 and have the same problem that affected my previous iphone 4S with IOS 8.1.1: when audio is turned off using the hardware switch on the left side I am still able to play audio from my video library or other apps like whatsapp or similar. Even if I go into settings >> sound and look at ringtones they are able to play (also with earphone). Furthermore it happens that recording videos in silent mode doesn't record the audio but only video. Did you experience the same issue? Can some expert explain me this weird feature?
    Thank you very much!

Unfortunately I can't check on my iPhone 4s since I sold it, but I remember it worked the opposite. Maybe it was a special feature only for the Italian market! Ok, lets say I don't remember well, and it is designed to work in this way: do you think is it logical decide to turn on the silent mode and play audio? Assuming that is logical, why I should record video without sounds?

  • How to tell if Sprint iPhone is unlocked?

I called Sprint earlier and asked them to unlock the GSM portion of my 4S. I told them I will be doing extensive traveling for a while and I don't want to pay roaming. I am a customer of good standing, but I thought they'd put up a lot of resistance. Lo and behold, when I called in, the girl checked for me and told me that my phone has been unlocked all along. Even though that was the first time I called in.
(I don't know if it has to do with the fact that I got my phone the day of the launch at an Apple Store. Rumors on the Internet said that the first batch of Sprint iPhones were accidentally unlocked. But I thought that would have been re-locked durning software update or something. Besides, I have dropped my phone recently and replaced with a new one through AppleCare +. So I'm baffled as to how this phone has been unlocked all along.)
Anyway, back to my point. I want to bring the phone to the UK and use a local sim card. Is there anyway I can tell if the phone is indeed unlocked? Can i tell from itunes or somethng? I don't want to bring it there only to find it still locked. I'd rather buy a cheap pay-as-you-go phone locally and not bring a locked iPhone with me. I plan on doing everything above the board. No jailbreakng.

Well, a domestic sim won't work in your phone, so using one to check won't work and if AppleCare can't confirm such, you have no choice but to rely on what Sprint tells you. Call the International Support team to confirm, again:
    888.226.7212
Tell them you will NOT pay any roaming charges if it is not unlocked when you get there.

  • How to tell if an iPhone is a victim of jailbreak

So  a neighbor said he had an extra iPhone 5 his company did not want back and that my daughter could have it.  It has some software on it that makes it unusable if stolen or found.  He started looking into jailbreak to get it off.  From what I read about this I don't want any part of a phone that has basically been hacked.  He now says a guy from the company's IT is taking the software off for him.  When I get the phone, is there a way I can tell if the IOS has been tampered with in this way?  I don't want to give my daughter something that could cause her grief down the road.
I know from other posts I have see that we are not supposed to discuss things like jailbreak here, but I am looking for a way to determine if this has been used on a phone.
    Thanks

Look in the app store - there are many apps that do anti theft tracking. Many can be defeated by factory resetting the device - it is simply the nature of how Apple restrict developers from locking an app to a device. A factory reset can be done in iTunes 'restore device' or via Settings > Reset, 'erase content & settings' in iOS.
If the company used iCloud for anti theft tracking you can't avoid it being reassociated with iCloud after a factory reset.
I also believe OS X server has similar features for anti theft tracking for corporate customers. So the device may be tied to an OS X server within the company, it;s unclear if the device will become reassociated, it depends on the company setup IIRC.
The simplest answer is to get the company IT to remove whatever they used. If you want to be certain there is no other jailbreaks on the device just factory reset it. That will also remove any data left over from a previous owner.

  • How to tell when your iphones battery is dying

I bought an iphone 4 in august 2010 and i have a feeling that my battery is dying.

  • How do I take my iPhone out of recovery mode?

my iphone is currently in recovery mode. the update did not successfully complete and now my iphone will not turn on. it tells me to connect to itunes. when i do it says that the phone needs to be restored to factory settings. how do i fix this?

You could try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again and hope that it starts as usual, but if it shows the "Connect to iTunes" screen, there is something wrong with the software and you'll need to restore the device.
At that point you can't back up the phone anymore, sorry.
If the phone is not recognized by iTunes, connect in recovery mode, explained here:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • How can i put my iphone in to dfu mode if my home button is broken i am on ios 7

i cannot figure out how to put my iphone in dfu mode with a broken home button on ios 7

Then you use this support document to restore it. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212 Then, if the device is on iOS 7, you will need his Apple ID and password for Activation Lock. If he cannot remember that, there is nothing you can do to change that. DFU mode will not correct that. It will be locked and cannot be activated, period.

  • How to tell if Active/active or Active/Standby mode is configured?

    Folks:
I am still learning the output of my running config, but how do I tell if my firewall is set to Actve/Active or Active/Standby mode?
In addition, how do I tell if it uses regular or stateful failover mode?

I wanted to provide this as well, since I found it and it also helped me answering my question.
This output shows Active/Active failover output.
