You may well be able to recover your library and media from your old drive if you place it in an external drive bay and connect it to your new computer. Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I have some lengthy instructions on how to transfer the library using my ipod, but i don't know how to use a flash drive to do it...instructions, please. Choose Consolidate Library from the Advanced menu in iTunes, confirm this action, open the Advanced section of the iTunes preferences, check the path for the iTunes library, and move the folder at that path to the corresponding location on the new computer, using any method necessary to transfer the data.

At the moment, my iTunes library is split across two hard drives, (22gb roughly on each). This was mainly so that if one drive failed, I didn't lose all my music. Anyway, I now have two 1tb drives and I want to move the entire library into a centralised location on one drive. Right now, I have all my albums grouped into a folder called 'Albums' and for singles or albums where I only kept a few tracks I have the tracks organized into seperate folders according to genre. How can i move my itunes library onto my new computer if i dont have the old computer?

i have installed i tunes on my new laptop and when i plug in my i phone it syncs fine but when i go into my library there is only music i have purchased from i tunes, the old library itself is not there (no uploaded music via old cd's ect) and i can only up load photos i have taken with my phone, not the photos from my old computer/library. all my music and photos are still on my iphone but i want to upload everything onto my new computer not just my i tunes purchases and photos only taken with my iphone.......help please its driving me mad!!!!!!! surely there is a way to move items from my phone to my computer and not by sending 500 photos via email and waving goodbye to my music i no onger have the cd's for?!?!?!?!?!?! madness!!!!!

Why didn't you transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to youir new computer along with all other important data, and where is the backup for your old computer that should include your iTunes library along with all other important data?
Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process - the original resolution of these photos is reduced. This is why Apple doesn't provide a way to transfer these photos in the opposite direction and why photos available on your computer should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data - iTunes library, documents, etc.
There are 3rd party paid utilities that provide for transferring these photos in the opposite direction but the original resolution of these photos will be forever lost, and the same for transferring music from your iPhone that was not purchased from the iTunes store.

The 600 Gb startup drive in my 2006 MacPro had gotten corrupted (however iTunes worked just fine and is used to backup my ipad and iphone), so I put in a new 1T internal drive and installed Lion on it and other applicatiions, including iphoto without problem. Now I want to transfer all my itunes stuff, including playlists, etc to to the new 1T internal from my 600GB internal . I tried following the support article "itunes for mac: moving your itunes Media folder" but it did not work. I think the article assumes you are not changing your start-up disk and just need to point somewhere else to find the media folder. Is there a directory I need to also move to my new operating start up drive? Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks!

Username/Music/
To the same place on your new drive
Then hold down the option key while starting iTunes and select the location of your new library

I've been in Australia for over a year, my previous Ipod broke so a purchased a new Ipod touch this year. However, as my Itunes library is on my laptop back in the UK, I'm a little depleted of music on this Ipod. Easy. Copy it from the old Mac to the new one.
There are a variety of techniques including Setup Assistant (as soon as you get your new MacBook Air, it will ask you if you want to transfer information from another computer), Migration Assistant (if you elect to transfer information later), enabling file sharing between the two computers, or copying your music to a flash drive or other storage device followed by importing it to iTunes.

Once your music library and everything else you want to transfer from the MacBook Pro resides on the new MBA, sync your iPod to the MBA. Sync the iPhone too when you get it, and they will both have identical iTunes music libraries.
