At least 75% of my itunes library has been downloaded from my cd collection(approx 400-500 cds). How do I share this between multiplecomputers(I have a laptop and a desktop with a third laptop potentially on the way). I knwo I can share music downloaded from itunes but can;t figure out how to share the music from the CDs.

Hi, one question & one suggestion...
What possible things are connected at home but not at the store, inlude every cable, etc.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/StartupItems

Apparently so (as long as each user operates out of a different Mac User account).
After setting up home sharing in the various different user accounts on the Mac, you need to have iTunes open in the account that you want to Home Share from.
Now use fast User Switching to get into the account that you want to Home Share to. Launch iTunes in there. The library in the other account should appear as shared for you.

I'm traveling to Europe next week and I'm taking a netbook with me to use as a base for downloading pictures and videos and as a general USB charging station for my iPhone and other digital devices. Yeah - it doesn't like it when you try to sync to another system. It throws up all kinds of warnings about doing it too. Not to mention that it tries to purge iTunes libraries to replace them with the one on whichever computer you are on and so on - basically its far more mess than it needs to be.
But I often plug my iphone into my netbook for the sole purpose of recharging the battery. When it comes up on my netbook and tries to sync, I just hit cancel. It will still recharge the iphone without syncing it.
Just on a side note, if you DO sync it with both, they will not talk to one another - even with home sharing - so if something crashes, you will have to go back to whichever computer you sync'ed (sank?) to last.

Sharing only works from a computer to a computer or device, you can't share between devices. For your purchased music, whether that is available for redownloading depends upon what country that you are in (it's not possible in all countries), and whether the music is still in your country's store (rights-holders occasionally remove their items from a country's store) - so there is no guarantee that it will all show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your Mini

All apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that bought them. To stop your id from popping up, you need to delete the apps on his phone, and then repurchase them under his account.

Home sharing allows you to play music across devices via wifi, so it shouldn't impact your limited amount. Think of it as streaming as opposed to downloading.

I intend to use the Home Sharing option to migrate my music to my new Mac, but iTunes 10.6.3 does not have the "Import" or "Settings" buttons in the bottom right corner. Does anyone know where these buttons are now?

The computer (windows platform) where I initially began using Itunes has four other computers/devices that are shared with it. All four of the other computers show up in my account, and can be managed. Or I can remove them. But on the new computer that I want to be my base computer (home if you will). The computer I want it to replace, when ITunes is open, has a tool bar, with various functions. All of the other devices are linked to that computer in ITunes, under Home SHaring. The new computer, shows the downloads via Home Sharing, but it does not show/have any tool bar.
I want to activate the new computer to be the computer via ITunes where all of the devices are linked to it as the base for ITunes. And, I don't know how to make that happen.
I hope that makes sense.

i had the same issue as everyone here after upgrading to itunes 10.x. vista could see xp home share. ipod touch could see xp home share.
neither could see vista home share.
after several hours of authorizing de-authorizing, rebooting router etc, i knew it had to be a firewall thingy with vista as xp was working fine
i went to this article http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2553 and followed the instructions. itunes was already in my vista exception list. on a hunch i deleted the itunes exception and followed the steps to add it again and boom it worked!! i could now see my vista machine from my ipod touch immediately.
something must have screwed up the firewall exception on the upgrade to itunes 10.x
it worked for me, i hope this helps others
