HT4528 Do I have to repurchase iTunes items lost with a factory reset??

I had purchased some ringtones and books and when my phone did the upgrade last night it failed and reset my whole phone to factory settings. My phone had been backed up through the cloud but it is telling me that I have to repurchase these items. These purchases were not backed up apparently, how can I get them back without having to purchase them again?

All my iTunes content especially all iTunes content purchased from the iTunes store is in my iTunes library on my computer which is included with my computer's backup along with all other important data.

i have an ipod 1st generation that i recently factory reset, when I turn it on it says (itunes symbol <-- USB cord) as if i should sync with a usb to my computer to itunes... i did that and nothing happens- my itunes is not showing it all, there isnt a device button like with my iphone. My computer (PC) does recognize that i plugged it in with the USB bc i can pull it up in "This PC"
You should also know that it (the ipod) hasnt been updated system wise in years... so i dont know if that means anything... HELP ME!

The iPod is already erased.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable (not necessary if using same cable that works for other devices)
- Try on another computer (not necessary since other iOS devices connect.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have an original IPhone that can't connect to ITunes. I did a factory reset and restored to firmware version 3.1.3. Please note that both my ITouches (2nd and 3rd gen) sync to ITunes perfectly. However, the IPhone never connects. Thoughts?

OK, my original iphone has just completed a factory restore. It's connected to my laptop, and ITunes restored it to firmware 3.1.3. Now, I can't connect to the ITunes store. I get an error message every time stating connection timed out, or something to that effect. Well, both my IPod Touch 2nd gen and 3rd gen connect perfectly to ITunes, so I doubt it's related to proxy settings, firewalls, or anything of the sort (believe me, I've spend 15 hours researching this without an answer). So, is there a problem with the original iphone with version 3.1.3 syncing with ITunes version 10.5.1 (the most recent one)?
I would LOVE an answer as this is driving me crazy.

Mine had a SIM in it. Originally, when I took out the SIM and tried to restore it with nothing in it, it wouldn't work without a SIM card. So ... I took the SIM that was in that phone previously, put it back in and completed the system restore. I then proceeded to go through the process with AT&T of adding a data plan, which I did, and then it successfully completed the system restore. However, now if I run diagnostics on it, it will not verify ITunes Store. If I try to connect to ITunes store, I'll get the network connection timed out error I referenced earlier in this thread. I'm considering jailbreaking it and putting on an earlier software version. Your thoughts?

Can I have two separate iTunes accounts on my first gen apple tv?

When I buy a movie on the apple tv, it sometimes doesn't download, and i hear from my daughters in another state that its downloaded there. To avoid paying for something that i didn't get, i would like to create a separate account for the apple tv use, so i can have movies I buy on that, and my daughters can buy their music on my first account.
I would still like to have my original iTunes account authorized on the apple tv - is it possible for me to have two iTunes accounts authorized on the Apple TV?

For a few reasons I prefer to refer to these libraries as primary and secondary libraries.
A primary library is a library that can sync content to the Apple TVs hard drive as well as stream content to it. The advantage of this is that you are able to turn off your computer and still watch the content on the Apple TV's hard drive.
The primary library will also let the Apple TV transfer any content you purchase on the Apple TV back to the iTunes library on the computer for safe keeping.
Unfortunately you can only have one primary library.
A secondary library can only stream content to an Apple TV and obviously when that computer is turned off the content is no longer available. You can however connect up to 5 secondary libraries to an Apple TV in addition to a primary library.
There's a little more about seeing which type of library you have and how to set up each on this page.
In your case the primary library would be your new library since you want to keep content you purchase on the Apple TV in it. Your older library would need to be a secondary library.
For the next part I'm assuming that you only have one computer. iTunes can work with more than one library, but you need to switch the libraries it works with and you can't use more than one at once. This wouldn't work very well for you, since you'd always need to ensure it was using the right library when you purchased from the Apple TV.
There is another way though, and that is to create two user accounts on your computer and run a library in each, one as the primary and one as a secondary.
If you have a mac you can have both user accounts running and the Apple TV will be able to see and use both.
If you have a PC the PC will only keep one user account active at a time, and the Apple TV will only be able to see and use that library. It's a little more awkward with a PC but not overly awkward. You'd need to keep switching users depending on which library you wanted to watch, but unlike switching libraries in a single user set up, the Apple TV wont transfer the purchases to the wrong library. Instead it will wait until until you have the correct user account active and then transfer the purchased content.

(Had a fire and had to replace all tech systems) Because I spent alot of monies on my purchases, it would be nice to be able to combine all these items and not have to repurchase them. I have recently invested a large sum into creating a network and backup system that has yet to be working as it should. Unfortuneately it has left me with very little left to try to convert to the mac systems entirely. Please answer my questions in a language that I can understand.....as this problem is affecting my household, organization and office techniques. Log in to iTunes, go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months) and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

Whether you can redownload music depends upon what country that you in. If you are using your computer's iTunes then does music show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page (on your phone you might be able to redownload media via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app) ? If music shows there, but not that album, then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
If you aren't in a country when you can redownload music and it's still on your phone then you should be able to copy it over from the phone via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.

Why would you repurchase songs simply because they will not sync? Sorry, that's beyond illogical, it's simply not smart.

HT201272 I get this when trying to download anything I have bought in iTunes Store "The item you are trying to buy is no longer avalible"

All music I ever purchased in iTunes is showing up as no longer available and is impossible to download. Thing is I can still find every single one of those albums when searching for them in iTunes Store. All of them is showing up with a price tag button next to them.
Is this how iTunes Store work? The albums get removed from my account after a year or so and if I suffer a complete hard drive failure I have to purchase everything again? Sounds like a rather crap deal if that is the case...
