HT4528 How do I get out of restore mode?  Error 36 pops up after I tried to restore!

I cannot use my phone because it's in the restore mode and even after I connected it to itunes, it's saying that it cannot restore because of this error 36.  I went to the Apple website for support and it had a bunch of other error #s that needed advaned steps but I did not see 36 on there.  Please help me ASAP

Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

Google "DFU mode", put it in that mode and Restore it in iTunes.
    And stay away from jailbreaking.

How can I get out of recovery mode without restoring my iPod?

    Try using Yamipod.
    http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/downloads/
Make sure iTunes is closed before you use yamipod.
Another issue I have heard about if are in Windows is a Parental Controls conflict with iTunes and your iPod trying to access the iTunes Server for the Restore Software Update.
Make sure there are no firewalls blocking it if you are on a Mac.
Try that, if not, post again.

What exactly are you trying to do? PVRs are for recording from TV not computers.
Either way, if it's complaining about DOS mode, it's Windows oriented software and not Mac compatible.

  • IPhone 3GS froze during iOS 5.1.1 update - how do I get out of recovery mode without having to restore?

So I tried to update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1, like iTunes told me to do, and it froze part way through the installation for a couple of hours.  I tried to "reset" the iPhone by pressing both the home and power buttons simultaneously, but now iTunes tells me my iPhone is in recovery mode.  From my limited knowledge, it seems I need to restore my iPhone, but I don't want to lose anything, like my SMS history.
Is there a way to get out of recovery mode without having to restore?
    Thanks!

I came across this post as my iPhone 3Gs had gone into recovery mode on its own accord.   I had hundreds of photos unsaved and was gutted when I saw this post, I felt even worse as it was not the information (gdgmacguy) I wanted to read.
Unfortunately, the above post is simply wrong! A system cannot destroy information in a blink of an eye.   If it were that easy, the forensic teams across the world would have a hard time.  A criminal could simply force a phone into recovery to remove all the data.  Please!
I managed not only to take the phone out of recovery mode but also, salvaged all the data held on it.
To be fair, I am a little annoyed at Apple for not offering a salvage option on the device for such a situation.  And it may be that they will not like me sharing this information, in which case I believe this view to be morally wrong because photos are so important.  We all make mistakes, in terms of forgetting to backup from time to time.
What I used was the Redsn0w software, running as an administrator in XP compatibility mode.  In the ‘Extras’ section it as a Recovery Fix option.  It simply runs some software that takes the device out of recovery mode.  I had to run it twice for some reason but the second time (out of desperation) worked a treat.  The phone is now exactly as it was before it went into recovery mode.  More to the point, it allowed me to backup all the photos and videos that I had failed to do before hand.  And let’s face it, photos and videos are usually the most valuable stuff we keep on our phones.
I hope this help anyone in the same situation. I really hope someone from apple reads it and is able to convince the bosses that a recovery option is very important.  And to take note that YES it is possible to recover data on a phone stuck in recovery mode.  And more than likely it would be easier for apple, compared to other non-apple professionals.
    Good luck.

  • HOW DO I GET OUT OF RECOVERY MODE?

Simple question, but seems to be hard to answer. Maybe nobody knows the answer. i have posted and posted time after time and no body gives me an answer. Go to clean up. ok been and done that. nothing happens. run pc scandisk. did it. nothing happened. connect to pc. did it. it does connect. i can get stuff off my nomad muvo 2 but for some reason
I CANNOT GET OUT OF RECOVERY MODE.
Could someone, anyone, give me a fricking straight on how to get the **bleep** out of RECOVERY MODE. I didn't spend $70 dollars on this piece of crap for it to not work.
So for the love that is all good and pure in the world, could someone please, please, getting on knees and begging for someone to help? And do not, and i repeat DO NOT REFER ME TO THE FRICKING RECOVERY MODE HELP THING, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HELP. SO DON'T BOTHER TYPING THAT IN.

I have a Zen Micro Photo and have been frustrated for many weeks. Sometimes a certain sequence is the key to success. I tried everything to no avail. I could not even get the Zen to charge with my Computer or wall outlet. I was stuck in Recovery Mode Hell. Of course, my battery drained and you must have a charge to upgrade the Firmware or do anything else. I even ordered a new battery on eBay. In the meantime, I purchased a **competitor** MP3 player which is the absolute best I have ever seen. Anyway, I read the Post here suggesting you try a certain sequence---which I then tried---and it worked for me. Somehow, I was able to get a charge from my PC last night. Without being hooked up to the PC I did the sequence (it would get locked up in Recovery Mode as soon as I hooked up to the PC anyway). My PC would simply refuse to recognize the Zen Micro Photo no matter what I did. As suggested, from Recovery Mode I clicked on "reformat", and when it was done I clicked on "reboot"--which it did. I then plugged in the USB cable and to my extreme surprise my PC recognized the player! I had downloaded the correct firmware file so I clicked on it. It opened and asked me if I really wanted to install this Firmware update as my player already had this Firmware installed. Really? I did a Format and I thought I erased the Firmware. I told setup to upgrade the Firmware anyway--which it did. Suddenly, my player started "reloading" its Library! I now have a working Zen Micro Photo (and a new **competitor**). I transferred a few MP3's to the Zen and they play just fine. I am serious when I say I tried everything-----over and over again. The player just remained locked in Recovery mode. It was this certain sequence that worked for me and possibly may work for you. This was my last attempt before the trash bin. Prices have fallen drastically for MP3 players and quality has improved (**competitor**), but I am happy that I now have two working MP3 players. One of them is going on eBay---any guess which one?

  • I wanted to trouble shoot, put comupter in safe mode , now its stuck , closed FF 3 times, re-started computer, still in safe mode.how do i get out of safe mode

i wanted to do trouble shooting, i put computer in safe mode & now i can not get out of safe mode. I've closed FF & re-started computer 3 times, even shut down computer, still in safe mode. What do i need to do to get out of safe mode?

    Hi,
Please see this article: [[Firefox is stuck in Safe Mode]]
I hope that helps. Post back if not.
    --Edward
EDIT: Just noticed that you already rebooted. You say that you "put computer in safe mode". Is firefox in safe mode or your whole computer?
If '''Firefox''' is stuck in safe mode despite reboot
    * Check that the shift keys on your keyboard are not stuck down.
    * Uninstall firefox and install again (your settings will not be lost as they are stored in your profile folder).
Let me know if neither of those works.

  • How do I get out of Safe Mode?

I have a vintage 2007 iMac that is very slow since the Yosemite and Mavericks upgrades. Apparently I've used up all my RAM (1GB x 2). After speaking to a technical adviser over the telephone a couple of weeks ago, he talked me through a few things within safe mode and said it may or may not help but worth a try. Last night I tried to go through the procedure of removing both the above operating systems, but didn't really know what I wa doing and was guessing command letters on the keyboard.
What I want is to just get back to normal mode so that I can use my slow Mac again. Nothing woks. as you've guessed, I'm a complete novice. Any advice would be much appreciated please. I put in a call to Apple support this morning, waited for half an hour only to find I that I had called wrong support team and was then cut off.
    Thanks, Kathleen

Thank you Paul for your quick response. Unfortunately this doesn't work. I must have tried 2 dozen times to restart, sometimes pressing various random keys before the Apple logo appears, sometimes not pressing anything. To get out and back in I have force shutdown.
What happens all the time is that I keep getting the Language window and then a box called OS X Utilities, then I've no idea what to do. The first option "Restore from Time Machine Backup" - I don't even know what Time Machine does. I don,t backup anything - my work production usage is nil. Then "Reinstall OS X" keeps telling me that I'm not connected to the Internet - yes I am. I only have wifi which has never let me down, I'm sending this via my iPad. "Get help online" wants a Safari log-in keychain - don't know what that is and in any case still says I'm not connected to the internet. Finally, in "Disk Utility" I've tried every which way and nothing is accepted wherever I put it.
Any further suggestions will be most welcome.
    Regards, Kathleen

  • How Do I Get out of Disk Mode

Ever since I tried to back up my iTunes onto CD's, my iPod Nano periodically says it's in "Disk Mode" where I can't turn it on or off, get access to my playlists or any other settings. So far the only way I can get out of this is by letting the battery completely run out and recharging the iPod through a wall charger. However, the next time I plug the iPod into my computer to download new music or charge it through the computer, it goes back into "Disk Mode". What is Disk Mode and how do I keep the iPod from going there?

Reset it (hold down the menu and center buttons, with the hold button off (no orange showing) for six seconds.)

  • How can I get rid of Shockwave Player Error message? I'm not trying to play anything, but it pops up whenever I reset my Safari.

I keep getting a message on my Mac saying:
    Shockwave Player Error
To view the movie, open your browser in the 32-bit mode.
    1) In Safari, select applications/safari in the Finder and click more info
    2) Ensure that Open in 32-bit mode is selected
    3) Re-launch the browser.
I did this, and selected the open in 32-bit mode but it's still giving me this message.
Interestingly, it does this every time I reset my Safari (which I do upon closing Safari), UNLESS I unclick the "Remove all website data" item box - then I don't get this weird shockwave player error message.
I would like to know either how to get rid of the error message (stop it from popping up) or how to download/install shockwave in case I need it.

I am having this issue whenever I go to Safari privacy preferences tab it pops up this same error window repeatedly, over and over, even if I don't acknowledge the first one... it just keeps adding the error window one on top of the other. (a little offset like opening multiple browser windows).
If I switch to a different application it may even keep popping them up keeping them on top all the time.
I navigated to Library/Internet Plug-ins and there was nothing in it.

  • My ipod is stuck in recovery mode. How do i get out eithout restoring it?

it is 4g and verion 5.1.1 it got stuck while i was trying to restore it the first time. error 21 came up and i went to the apple website. that wasnt very helpful and it is still stuck in recovery. the apple directions to get it out were very confusing. Can anyone help (and please dont tell me to go back to the website)?

    You will have to restore.
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
As the above says, it could be a hardware problem and in that case it has to be replaced.

  • HT4528 How do I get out of this endless recovery loop for the iphone 4 cdma?

    Hello,
I attempted to update my iPhone 4 and now it is stuck in recovery mode, despite spending the last 8 hours attempting to break the cycle.
When I attempted to restore the phone iTunes would not allow me to. The following error message appeared: The iPhone could not be restored. This device isn't eligable for the requested build.
I've tried using redsn0w to reintall previous releses, but with no success.
This appears to be a significant flaw in the product, as I have seen that there are an incredible amount of people seeking help with this, and thousands of views on all the tutorial related to this issue.
My concern is that this is a blatent show of planned obselesence. I've only had my phone for just over a year, and it worked completely fine until the release of the iPhone 5.
    How will this be reconciled?

  • CANNOT restore, CANNOT get out of recovery mode (ERROR 3194)

I was trying to update my 3GS to the latest IOS version and it went into recovery mode. I try and restore it and error pop up appears saying that I cannot restore due to ERROR 3194.
I've tried the SYSTEM32 trick, I've installed the new iTunes, I DIDNT JAILBREAK, I've tried taking my anti-virus offline while I restore. NOTHING works. I consider myself pretty smart with computers, but I'm getting desperate now as you can see.
If this happend to you, last resort what would you do if you could never get it out? Get a new phone? Is there a way I could get one for this? I just want to listen to music and text again.
    Thank you for your time

Make certain that iTunes is really the current iTunes. If that is correct, I would restore my iPhone on a different computer which has the current iTunes installed.

It's in recovery mode. There is nothing left on the phone. You have no choice but to restore it.  Have you not been backing it up on a regular basis?
