On my old iTunes sofwear iTune store would not open. I uninstalled iTunes and downloaded the new updates and installed it. Now I get a message that said " The file iTunes Libary.itl" cannot be read becouse it was created by a newer version of iTunes.I did everything it said to do inarticle HT1923 Removing and reinstalling iTunes, Quick Time, and other sofware components for Windows Vista or Windows 7. Now what?
Unless you've recently attempted to downgrade iTunes this is probably a sign of a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

I am trying to upload pictures from my phone to my computer and I'm getting an error message that a photo is corrupted so it can't download. I don't know how to tell which of the photos is corrupted so that I can delete it and try again? Thanks!
If this is an iCloud account the Outbox only appears when sending an email, so if it is still trying I suppose it should be showing now (not sure though, hard to replicate this)
What type of email account? -
Has anyone had any luck getting ITunes to work properly on a Windows 7 PC lately? Up until today, I could not open my ITunes at all because it said the disk was locked. A very helpful person at Apple Care told me to go into properties and release the read only box. I did and it did not help. So I uninstalled ITunes and downloaded the newest version. Now I get the message: ITunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of ITunes.
Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks.See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash.

I have my iTunes on a Windows XP operating system. My iTunes Library is stored on a external hard drive(H) with a desktop shortcut on the C drive pointing to the H drive where the iTunes LIbrary is located. I have it set up so that when I click the iTunes desktop shortcut it routes to the H drive and retrieves my iTunes Library from there. I've had a hard drive crash before and lost all of my iTunes Library.
So, if all of that makes any sense, I got a new desktop computer with Windows 7 Operating System and went online and downloaded the most recent iTunes softwear. I then attached the external hard drive from my old Windows XP system to the new Windows 7 Sytem. I routed it the same way I had it on the old system, but i keep getting this error message- "The file *iTunes Library.itl* cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." To make matters worse, I tried to put the external hard drive back on my initial Windows XP Sytem and now its giving me the same error message. I know its alot to digest, but can anybody help me?????For general library squiffiness following an upgrade or crash the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these andcopy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
PS There is also a new iTunes build to download today, so might be worth getting that. A new iTunes should always load an older library file.

Itunes libary cannot be read. It was created by a newer version.
I cannot read my song list or get my Ipod to comunicate with the pc. When I click on Itunes it boots up the lic. I agree to the lic. then it tells me my libary was created by a new version and will not let me in. Very frustrating. I have gone to the update site and updated the PC and the Ipod. Still same problem. In windows explorer I can see my songs but cannot play or get to them. Help!
Hp Media Center Other OSHello
What I was attempting to commuicate is that I went to the apple downloads section above on this screen, and then to the Ipod downloads for my machine (the 20 gig color screen Ipod) I then went to the downlaod section that showed ipod updater 2006.03.23. It looked to me as the most current one. Is that correct? I then choose the ipod software 1.2.1, which is listed as the one for my machine. That was not successfull in solving my problem. Still the same error message about my files were created by a newer version of the Ipod software. I read your suggestion after doing the above stuff. I noticed that the version you are suggesting is differant than what I downloaded off the offical Apple Ipod site.
So my question was about the differance in the versions. I was concerned because I did not see the one you suggested on the apple site the first time. I am attempting not to mess everything up so that I end up in reformat land. Uggggh! The thought of loading all the music again. But at least I have my cds so in theory I can get there. But currently, as I mentioned these files are still in my computer, but the error message says they were created with a later version of the software. That is puzzeling. One other factor my be that I needed to reinstall my files using an external back up hard drive after a reformating of the computer hard drive. I had backed up the computer using Windows live one care. The Live one care is the new MS service. It is pay for play to keep your computer protected. If you are old enough to remeber the TV show "outer limits", it is like the man said..."we control your screen".
I do have the Ipod files now loaded back into my machine. The originals are still on my Ipod and it plays just fine. I do not have a clue what version of the apple software created them. All I did was use my apple Ipod factory software. Do you know how to find ou what apple version these files are in windows? I am clue less.
I will attempt your path and look for and download the other apple software if you think that will work.
Resectfully Apple Mike

I recently upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and cannot open up .avi files now in Quicktime. These same files opened up with no problem prior to my upgrade. Additionally, I had upgraded to the Pro version of Quicktime recently, but it appears I've retrograded back to the basic version, unexplainably.
I get this error message: The document “ANDREW_McD_MEDIA_VERSION.avi” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available.Hi,
I had exactly the same problem & found the answer here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3219982?start=0&tstart=0 . Download a program called Perian, very easy to download worked a treat. I wish all fixes were this easy - Debbie -
