HT4528 Imessage hanging up

Imessage hanging up, is there a fix coming or can I re install the lastest update?

Yeah, mine has been doing this about once a day. I've always fixed it with a simple phone reset (Hold the home button + the lock button for about 10-12 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose any data or current settings.) or by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

IMessage hangs after wake from sleep

I have Mountain Lion now since it was released and I love using iMessage on it! It is synced with my phone account and number so I can reply on both, but theres one really annoying problem I have -
I always leave my most used apps open, and never really shut my mac down. Almost everytime I open my mac from sleep. iMessage freezes and shows (not responding) in Force Quit menu. The whole computer run likes a dog and everything runs much slower! Once I have forced quit it shuts down and gives the usual would you like to report this to apple option.
Once iMessage is reopened it works perfectly, until mac is put to sleep and then woken it freezes again! It does this id say 90% of the time wakeing from sleep
Please help anyone with any ideas what this could be or if apple are working on a fix if its a known bug!
Its on a Early 2011 17-inch MacBook Pro with 2.2Ghz I7 and 4GB Ram 750GB HDD

HI,
This was or is a problem in iChat as well before we get to Mountain Lion and the Messages version.
Basically on Waking from Sleep the app can start up faster than the Mac manages to establish the Network connections again.
Depending on how many apps are trying to Start up at Wake and their priority on Processor time/CPU cycles you may find you vary in what effects and (Alert) messages you see.
Any Buddy lists on view in Messages may show Disconnected if Messages is the only app that is trying to Connect on Wake.
If there are many apps then Messages relative low Priority on Processor time may mean it hangs waiting for free Processor time.
Unfortunately there is not really a way around this.

How do i use iMessage on 2 iPhones?

I have 2 iphone 6's (work and personal). I want iMessages to be mirrored on both phones. I have 1 apple ID on both and both phone numbers listed on both, so 2 phone numbers and 1 apple id on each. I am not using forwarding. It works great for a few days but eventually iMessage hangs up and i eventually have to shut down the phone and turn iMessage back on. When is gets hung up, i can't even turn iMessage back on. it seemed to work fine for a while, so not sure why it stopped. anyone now the proper way to set this up?

i think the difference is i have both numbers checked, so both phones will get the same messages if either number gets a text or iMessage. i suspect thats the conflict. the phone doesn't lock-up, just iMessage does. i was going t try the text message forwarding feature, but someone at an apple store said the text forwarding feature in iMessage is only for phones to forward to non-phone devices, but i may test that out to see if i get a different result. this has worked ok for a few years and recently stopped working - wonder if it's iOS8.2....

Searching contact names in Messages fails to return results

A few ios7 issues..
Worst is searching in Messages returns no result for names requiring manually finding proper thread.
Also after some amount of time, iMessage hangs on sending & won't deliver any iMessages to any recipients until phone is reset via home button + top button press.

After realizing no one else had this issue, I just did a full restore through iTunes of my iOS and it fixed it. Back up on iCloud or iTunes first.

IMessage problems on iOS 6. Keeps hanging/unresponsive

I'm running IOS 6.1 and ever since I could remember I've been having problems with iMessage. Basically the messages hang and are unresponsive for quite some time and then they finally send and receive. I've tried restore and reset. Please help me!

Do you have bad signal? That is normally the issue, if you have bad cell signal, it either reverts to text message or lags for a while. This can also happen if who you are sending it to has bad cell signal.

IPhone freezes/hangs after sending iMessage

Anyone else having this problem or know a fix? Almost every time I send an iMessage my Iphone 4 will hang/freeze for almost 30 seconds before I can do anything else. If I send a regular txt it's fine. Anyone know of a fix for this? It's becoming very annoying

I'm suffering the same thing. Seems to happen during the day (as opposed to the night). This was happening before and I read somewhere it was traced to the use of the Mac OX Messages beta app that Apple released before Mountain Lion. I uninstalled that beta and things seemed to get better. Now I'm running ML on my Mac and this issue is back. Is there an issue with the Mac app logged into iMessage and the iPhone too?
Very curious whether this has a fix somewhere.

HT4528 How do I remove my number from Imessages

I am having trouble doing what I think should be an easy thing. I have Me, wife (separated) my son, my nephew and my cousins on my itunes account on a share network. I am the primary user and have been disgusted by what I have noticed is going on. Because I am the primary "Imessage" has been sending all my texts to all family that has my number on my account and I can not change it.
This is so dishearting that I can not stand it. My family has had access to all my stuff. REALLY. And before anyone says something dumb that I don't want to hear or can not do let me give you my reasons:
1. I can not start another Itunes, because no matter what, my sons and family will always be allowed to have what i have, but they are with their mother. So I can not start another Itunes and lose the $1000s of money i have spent during our 15 years of marriage.
2. I am not going to delete access because that would hurt all my family that I dont want to hurt.
3. I know you can turn off "Imessage" but all that does is not send my text and text that other people send that have "Imessage" on goes to all the devices that have the number on the imessage. Which defeats the purpose of this TURNING OFF.
4. I can not delete the number. Change it or Pass protect something that is private.
I buy games for my neice, nephew, apps and movies for my sons and it ***** that I have to have my privacy a open book to all to see. What a fricking joke. How is this possible.
I need someone to help me. Quick, before i lose my mind. "Imessage" should not be made for all those to see my private texts.
I WILL NOT START OVER IN ITUNES, I WILL NOT REMOVE MY FAMILY MEMBERS FROM ITUNES, ALL I WANT IS MY STUFF TO BE PRIVATE AND MOVIES, APPS, GAMES, MUSIC TO BE ACCESSIBLE NOT REALLY A HARD REQUEST AND I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE.

You can still keep you AppleID for iTunes and set up a totally separate one for iCloud and iMessage, you know.....
You just need a different email address than the one you use for your iTunes AppleID. I've attached a little support article that may help:

You should have turned iMessage off before disabling the phone. Do you still have the phone so you can turn iMessage off? If not, you will need to go to Apple support on their website and delete the product from your profile.

I already reset my network settings, if the imessage on the off chance does start working it will only send from my email and will not let me check my phone number under "send & receive" any ideas?

Have you checked to see if the iMessage is activated on the iPhone. Maybe the ipad subscription could be interferring with the connection on your phone. had this issue happen when applying imessage on my Mac Book

2. imessage and disable it on both devices
3. try the phone first let it activate then try the ipad and see if they work simultaneously

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.

I have the iPhone 4 and everything works great, except my iMessaging with ONE number. I am able to iMessage everyone, and so can he. But the problem happens with our phones only and it doesn't make sense. I've been on many forums trying to find a solution. Help. Please. thank you!

There is no message that comes up. I can iMessage other iPhone users, except one specific number. I've heard other users have this problem. When I iMessage my friend, it will stay in the text window, but it won't deliver it. It will send as a text. I've tried resetting my network, phone, and turning off the iMessage for awhile. I don't know what else to do.
