  • Since I updated to ios 6.0.1 i have the invalid sim message

When I first got the iphone 5 the day it was sent out, I had a msg about an invalid sim car (Sprint) and they replaced the sim card and no problems until I upgraded to ios 6.0.1 yesterday, now the same msg again! Anyone else have this happen with upgrading to ios 6.0.1?

This is a repost from a similar thread:
This is why I do NOT do updates when they first come out. I just updated to 6.0.1 yesterday (Nov. 14) on my Sprint iPhone 5 and shortly thereafter got the "Invalid SIM" message preventing me from making calls or having any data connection. As others experienced, I could restart the phone and it would go away, temporarily... but eventually return. Great... as I'm going on a 5 day west coast work trip Friday.
I called Sprint tech support and they wanted to take me through the typical b/u & restore process. I have not seen one person reporting that this permanently fixes anything. I said, thanks, but I can do that on my own time later if need be. I put more stock in others' experiences that a new SIM card was the only true fix.
Next called the Apple Store near me to make an appointment. The girl made several attempts to convince me to call Apple Care instead to deal with this issue. I told her I didn't get AC but she said everyone gets one free session within first 90 days of a new iPhone. I insisted on a Genius Bar tech appointment, which was made for this morning.
At the appointment the tech said he never personally has dealt with this problem. I told him what I had read about likely SIM card corruption caused by the 6.0.1 update process. He disappeared with my phone into the back room for a long time. I'm starting to think Wut T F? Then he finally emerges with a brand new Sprint SIM as he's busting it out of it's perforated plastic holding tabs. He said Apple acknowledges that this is the official fix but he had a hard time finding one for Sprint. Replaced the old with the new, turned the phone on and it has worked fine since, OS 6.0.1 still intact and no re-activation through Sprint needed. (Unless he did something I was unaware of regarding updating SIM info. to Sprint). I really don't think so, since I asked him, "Don't I have to reactivat the phone with Sprint because of the new SIM card." He answered, "Sprint's SIM card does nothing in that respect."
OK, then... but my iPhone 5 seems back to normal.

  • My iPhone continually shows me an Invalid SIM message or SIM Failure.  If I switch my phone off and then back on it works ok for a maximum of 10 mins, and then I get the same message appearing.  How can I resolve it?

My iPhone 4S keeps on giving me an error message about my SIM Card.  It either tells me invalid SIM or SIM Failure.  The only way i can rectify this it to switch my phone off and then back on again, but this resolve only lasts for 10-15 Mins, and then the same error message appears.  Any ideas on the best way to rectify my alleged SIM card issues?
    Many Thanks

i Had a simular issue years ago with my blackberry on ATT.  As it turned out, my SIM had some issues.  I would head over to your carrier and get a free sim replacement.   It could be a phone or SW issue, but the Sim is my first guess give my experience

  • First got an invalid SIM message. tried the apple suggested tricks. Restored phone. Now cannot re-activate phone and still have invalid sim message. 4s

    See above

This means that either the SIM is defective, or the phone is locked to a different carrier than the one the SIM is for. What is the exact message you see?

  • HT4994 Invalid SIM message on phone

Do you know how to fix this. Cannot make or receive calls
    Invalid SIM

    Try resetting:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.
If that fails, try taking the SIM out (you will need a paper clip or SIM unlock tool to open the SIM tray), then reset again. After powering back on it should say No SIM. Then try putting the SIM back in.
If it is still not fixed, seek help from your carrier or from Apple at an Apple Store.

  • HT1414 My iphone 4s has developed an invalid sim message I can't make any calls or recieve any at present

My Iphone 4s has developed a fault invalis sim any help out there how to fix this

Did you already check this article for more information?
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Toggle Airplane mode On and Off.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Check for a carrier settings update. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.
Remove the SIM Card and verify that it is a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it is not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you still are unable to resolve this issue, contact Apple support for further assistance.

  • Iphone 5 invalid sim

Just received new unlocked Iphone 5 from Apple store and getting "invalid sim" message with sim card still works ok in original Iphone 4. Have tried reinserting multiple times and all the reboot atempts advsed in some of the forums but still no good. Have done the full activation process with ITunes
Replacing with another SIM is not an option. SIM is OK It still works fine in old phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get my new phone working with original sim? Any help much appreciated.

Ocean20 is correct; the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 use different-size SIMs, so there's no way you could be using the same SIM in both phones unless you have some sort of adapter to use a nano-SIM in a micro-SIM phone. Is that what you're doing?
And in what country and from what store did you purchase this iPhone?

  • No SIM message

My iPhone 3G seems to work with some SIM cards and not others. One friend's AT&T SIM works beautifully and another's doesn't at all. Furthermore, if I put a non-AT&T SIM in their phone, it will give an "Invalid SIM" message. But put when I put some TMo SIMs in, it never even acknowledges there's a SIM card in the slot. Put someone else's in there and it at least shows "Invalid SIM."
I'm guessing it's a bad SIM card reader. Does that sound about right?
**TO BE CLEAR: I am not discussing anything other than a stock iPhone here. The iPhone exhibits this behavior even on a refreshly, stock-restored iPhone. Do not derail this thread discussing things we are not allowed to discuss here.**

No, the phone is already activated. My friend who sits next to me at work has an iPhone. If I put her SIM card in, a few seconds go by before it's getting a signal and I can make and receive calls. Take that one out and put another guy's AT&T SIM card in and nothing happens. Just a No SIM message at the top. But his SIM works fine in his iPhone.

  • Invalid sim

updated to 7.0.3 ands received invalid sim message.  Will call sprint tomorrow, but several people have complained that the 7.0.3 update blew out their SIM card

If you'd take a look at the thread "SIM card error", I've described there a similar problem but it's somehow related to WP8.1 update. My wife's Lumia 1020 has random SIM errors after installing WP8.1. And yes, her SIM card is cut down. So is my SIM card in my Lumia Icon and it hasn't shown any signs of error.
I've cut down at least half a dozen SIM cards of my friends & colleagues and no-one has ever complained me that his/her SIM card wouldn't work. Of course if you'd screw up the cutting process then there'd be a possibility to damage your SIM card.
I'd really like to receive any other possible experiences where SIM card issue is somehow related to WP8.1 update, especially with Lumia 1020. There was a guy who is using AT&T with his Lumia 1020 & with WP8.1 update and he reported of similar problem my wife's Lumia 1020 has. Different continent, different carrier, same problem...

  • "Invalid Sim" Or "No Service" On 4S Phone

I have just bought an empty phone 4S from Singapore M1 Shop.
Due to my employment in China, I have changed to the China micro sim card.
Sometimes, there is network but after sometimes, it appears "Invalid Sim" or "No Servive".
I have approached the APPLIE store in Shanghai China but no one can solve this problem.
Please do anyone encounter this problem? I need help or advice desperately. Thank you.

Here's my experience w/ the Invalid SIM message:

  • "Invalid Sim" - Apple has, at last, ackowledged the problem

Seems like Apple has acknowledged that there's in fact a problem (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4148) and released a new build to fix it:http://www.macrumors.com/2011/12/16/new-ios-5-0-1-build-9a406-intended-to-fix-no -sim-card-errors-on-iphone-4s/
    I'm already trying it!
It seems that the feedback is a bit mixed...some say that it fixes the problem, some say that it stays the same...worht the try!
Here's the direct link for the build: http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4//0...6_Restore.ipsw
If you have a PC with Windows OS, just go to iTunes, press "Shift" + Restore, select the downloaded file and restore yout phone.
If you would like to keep your settings, do a backup prior to this because,, if you don't, you'll loose all your data. I choosed to not do that, and perform a "clean" install.
No problems so far, but then again, I'm getting this issue when I leave the phone in the Gym's locker (very poor signal).
So, I'll only be sure that it's fixed by Monday/Thursday...

The iPhone is not a replacement and it's not unlocked. It's ALL original and it's locked to the carrier (TMN - Portugal), where I bought the Micro-Sim.
I bought it new and sealed, in the box, all apps bought and downloaded from Appstore. No third parties involved here!
Honestly, I'm very disappointed with this the phone is failing in it's most BASIC function!! This is not acceptable for such an expensive device!!!
This (and the ridiculous battery draining problem) is ruining my daily experience with the phone! High end equipment???!! Doesn't seem like it...
By the way, I didn't get a "No Service" message. What I get is an "Invalid SIM" message.

  • I keep getting an "invalid sim" error on my 4s!

Just received my new AT&T phone today.  Set it up with no problems.   Then I get an "invalid sim" message.   After rebooting a couple of times it goes away, but it keeps coming back.   Thoughts?

I found that if you remove the SIM card, reseat it in its frame, then reinsert it, it seems to solve the problem.
    Turn off the phone.
I got a paperclip and popped out the sim card by putting the end of the paperclip in the tiny hole on the side of the phone (its on the opposite side of the volume controls).  This will pop out the sim card.
Take the sim card out of the casing, blow on it for good luck, then place it back in the casing.
Push the casing back into the phone until it snaps into place.
    Turn the phone back on.
It's been 24 hours and haven't had any issues since.  Hope this saves you from standing in line at the Apple store....

  • Invalid Sim 3GS 5.0.1

Upgrated to 5.0.1 and now it won't activate... Why? No solution?

We need a lot more information before anyone can offer any advice. Is this iPhone locked to a carrier, or was it purchased unlocked (and by that I mean really unlocked, confirmed by Apple, not purchased from some user or unauthorized dealer who claimed it is unlocked). From what dealer and in what country did you buy the iPhone, and in what country are you attempting to use it now? What is the exact error message?
With more information, we can then perhaps tell you what might be going on and how to address it. An "invalid SIM" message after upgrading the operating system usually indicates an iPhone that was jailbroken to allow it to work with a carrier other than the one to which is was originally locked. Such jailbreaks are often removed by an OS upgrade.

  • HT4528 IPHONE 5 gets the message "invalid sim" and "sim failure" - how do I fix this?

I keep getting the message: "sim failure" or "invalid sim". I have a not changed anything on the phone other that adding the recent update. How do I fix this?

If  that doesn't work, you can just take out the sim and put it back in. To take it out, you put a paperclip into the small hole on the right side of you iphone. Press it in and the sim will eject. Then just press it back in once removed. Hope this helps.

Remove the current sim, clean the contacts, re-install the sim.
Contact your wireless provider and get a new sim.
Has the iPhone been previoulsy jailbroken or modified to work with
    other than the original provider?
