What happens when you try to change them?
Try:
- Reset all settings

What can i do to get my phone working. It went to a black screen when I was playing a game. I pressed the power and home button then it showed the apple logo and went back to a black screen. Doesn't came on, show a charging sign, read on iTunes.

If you carefully follow all of the instructions in this tip and none of them restore WiFi then your radio chip has failed and you need to get the phone replaced by Apple. -
Any ideas here on how to reset without hooking a phone up to itunes when it has been disabled and it is now frozen in what was supposed to be a recovery mode. We have called the carrier with no help and I have searched the internet. Any help at this point would be great. I can't help the person because I am 1 hour away from them and do not have the phone in my hands.
they need to connect it to the computer/itunes they normally do and restore it as new.

It's always possible that the connector was damaged but not to the point that chargers wouldn't work. With continued use, the damage got worse until the connector could no longer feed electricity into the phone.
It sounds to me like you need to get your phone replaced but only the folks at an Apple store can say for sure.

You may be wondering by now, iTunes is not detecting my phone, How do I do that?
Answer:- Just disconnect your phone from the computer. keep Itunes open on the PC. While holding the home button of the iphone plug the phone back in. Itunes will pop a message stating it has detected a phone in recovery mode. just follow the on screen instruction then to restore your phone. If your issue is still not resolved only an Apple technician can help you -

Particularly:
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

Ipod will not turn on. Black screen no logo. Nothing. I do mean nothing. Tried hold power and home. Tried connecting to PC. Nothing. Whatever i do nothing happens. No backlight. Nothing. I really mean nothing. I have tried every fix offered on commentson other post about the same problem. Does anyone know a fix for this. Let your ipod die. Then when it is dead charge it adn turn it back on. After that it should be fine.

Try a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

Make sure it's charged.
Try to Reset your device:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first). -
The screen on my iPhone turned into an xray like display. With the assistance from Apple Support, I Upgraded the software version. But still did not resolved the issue.
