HT4528 iPhone 5 Passcode Problem

I just bought the iPhone 5 and enabled the passcode lock. My problem is that the passcode is sometimes rejected and other times it is accepted.  I am sure that I am entering the correct passcode. I even filmed myself doing so to double-check and have allowed family members to try and enter my passcode to make sure that it is correct. I would say 95% of the time my iPhone accepts my passcode and unlocks my phone and then the other 5% of the time the iPhone does not recognize the passcode and locks me out (then I must wait 1, 5, or 15 minutes until it accepts it). Does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? Is this a software bug?

I've only seen this when there is a carrier account setup problem.
Try restarting the iPhone and then restoring it. If that doesn't take care of it, try contacting Verizon again.

    You can try to Restore the iPhone with iTunes on computer. See if better. If still problem, and there is Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, Apple does not repair the Audio components of the iPhone 4S, for $199 they will offer perfect replacement iPhone 4S exactly like yours with 90 day Warranty too.

    I have an iPhone 4.
    Yesterday I changed the passcode. However, I forgot the passcode. After trying over and over again, the phone was disabled. For over 12 hours. At the time, I had iOS 7.0
    Today, when I got home, I plugged my iPhone into my Mac and opened up iTunes. I downloaded 7.0.3.
    The disabled screen is gone. However, I still don't know my passcode. Whenever I attempt to reset my phone, iTunes tells me to either enter my passcode or turn off Find My iPhone, but I can't do either, since I don't remember my passcode.

  • HT1212 IOS7 password problems on iPhone & OS update problems on MacBook -- HELP!

    I've updated IOS7 on my iPhone & I've been asked for my password, which I don't know (I actually don't think I set one).
    I tried to sync iPhone with iTunes on my MacBook Pro, however the phone won't work without itunes 11.1 (which I seem to not have). I need to install OS 10.6 version or later on my MacBook Pro, however when I have tried to do so, I keep on being told I need a previous version. I tried 10.6.1 which doesn't work and can't seem to find 10.6.
    I have no idea what I'm meant to do to get 1) my iPhone working and 2) update iTunes so it can eventually sync.

    Your Passcode problem is a different issue, but until you update your computer, & iTunes you will not be able to fix that.
    An Apple store will restore your phone, or you can use another computer. Follow the directions here:
    Force the phone into recovery mode, as described here, and restore it:

    This will remove the passcode.

    I have forgotten my iphone 6 passcode and I have tried to restore the phone in both iTunes and icloud. The problem is that I never connected it with icloud or iTunes. Every time I try to restore it on iTunes it either tells me I need to enter the passcode (which I don't know) or it says that the disc is full. Im not sure what it means when it says that.  This is a new phone I received for work and I don't use the phone on weekends so when I turned it on today it asked for my passcode which I have forgotten.     You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
    You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

    I downloaded a program called PhoneView the other day so that I can retrieve IMs from my iPhone 4. To my surprise this program can completely access all the info on my phone bypassing my iPhone's passcode and all built in security features. ***?
    What I am saying is I can lock down my phone with the most secure settings the iOS 4 offers and all I need to do is plug my iPhone into my computer and PhoneView can still access all my data on the phone never even asking for a passcode or anything. All photos, contacts, IMs, VMs, ... everything is accessible.

    I realie this is a pretty old thread, but I just wanted to chime in and explain what's going on here.   In short, Apple's done such a great job making everything simple, that at first pass, it may seem like there's a security hole here.  Fortunately, your data's not at risk.
    The long version:
    The first time you connect your iPhone to your Mac, a security key exchange takes place.  (You won't see this happening.)  This key exchange will NOT take place if there's a passcode lock.  From this point on, the security credentials are stored away on your Mac.  Mac apps, including iTunes and PhoneView, can now access the phone without the need for you to enter a passcode.
    If you were to connect your passcode-locked phone to a new Mac (or a thief were to connect your phone to their Mac), nothing would happen at all.  The Mac won't even acknowledge that it's plugged in until it's unlocked.
    You might now be wondering, what if the thief is sitting at yor computer?  Well, then you have much bigger security problems on your hands.  :-)
    I hope this helps to explain what Apple's done here.
    It may also be worth mentioning that if you want to add another level of security, you can enable the iTunes "encrypted backup" feature.  This will kick in very advanced device-side encryption on any data leaving the device.  PhoneView will still work fine, however only if you provide it with the required encryption password.

    I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered

    I'm having a similar problem, but I do have the key and is not working anyway.
    My old pc was running on windows 7 and my new one is an apple running on Lion.
    My phone is an Iphone IV and I can see all the bookmarks there.
    In order to sync, what I did was click on the "I don't have the device with me", I entered the key that was provided and the process finish ok. It says congratulations, etc, etc.
    But the bookmarks are not there, I tried merging data and replacing data on this computer options but is the same.
    Any suggestions?

    I have the same problem with 3G coverage. I am suppose to be in a strong 3G coverage area at home. I only have 1 bar. Traveling around town (Sacramento area) my 3G coverage changes dramatically. From 1 bar to full bars? Not sure if its working properly or not??? Anyhow, this was posted on Engadget. After they exchanged their iPhone the problem went away? Could it be true? Is it the netork or our iPhones? Lets all hope nothing is wrong with our iPhones!!!!
    iPhone 3G Reception Problems? You're Not Alone
    One of the more disturbing things coming out of the iPhone 3G launch is reports of suspiciously poor 3G reception and speeds. Specifically, I've seen several people report one bar - specifically, one bar - of 3G reception in areas where other devices report strong reception. (More complaints at Engadget.)
    This may be a problem with a batch of iPhones, or with something in AT&T's network, though I've also seen someone reporting the problem on O2 in the UK. The first review iPhone we got had this problem - it would mysteriously drop from four bars of 3G to one for no apparent reason, while our Motorola RAZR2 V9 reported better reception. Then it would shoot back up to four bars for no apparent reason a few minutes later. That unit would also occasionally throw up an "invalid SIM" error, requiring a reboot. That phone also had hideously slow 3G data speeds in the 50 kbps-150 kbps range, so the missing bars weren't just a display issue; there was something wrong with the way the phone was hitting the network.
    We exchanged that iPhone for a different unit and no longer had the problem. We took the new iPhone and carried it around comparing it to a Motorola V9, and the two phones connected roughly the same number of calls on the 3G network. The new unit also had much higher data speeds in the same locations - still not great, in the 300-400 kbps range, but at least reflecting 3G.

    my white iphone does the same thing. I will drop down to one bar on 3g but full strength when i turn 3g off. Some people have tried to say that it is because 3g had more difficulty going through walls. Mine will not switch between 3g and edge on it's own so i find that when at home i just have to turn off the 3g. I have also heard rumors of a bad batch of iphones. I tried to take it into the store today but they were so busy i just had to make an appointment for thursday, although i was able to replicate the problem in front of the apple geek, which was a little surprising becuase while in line outside the store i had full bars of 3g. It might just be an issue that occurs when indoors? I also have a problem with lag. I'm hoping to get it resolved thurdays, whether they give me a new phone or just tell me to eff off and deal with it. probably the latter.

    I would try using another cable you can likely borrow one to test from somebody
    if it's the same then likely the connector in your iphone have been damaged

    Have you talked to your carrier (or your friend to his)?  Could be an issue at their end.

    Check the manual for whatever backup program you used, or, if you just copied the files over, copy them that.

    Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$
