How do I remove audiobooks from my iphone but not from my itunes account? My phone ran out of storage but I do not want to loose the books since i purchased them. I know it is probably easy but the new itunes is not as user friendly!

You can try to Restore the iPhone with iTunes on computer. See if better. If still problem, and there is Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, Apple does not repair the Audio components of the iPhone 4S, for $199 they will offer perfect replacement iPhone 4S exactly like yours with 90 day Warranty too.

Audio Book Problems...

Love the iPhone and I use the iPod function more for audiobooks than I do for music. The problem I am having is the fact that the titles are a bit long and old iPods scroll the entire title across the screen so I can verify which chapter I am on.... With the iPhone I don't have this function, and I cannot find anywhere but here to ask this particular question...
Also if I could download audio books on the wi-fi that would be great as well... Any idea?

I don't have the answer for your first quesiton, but Audio Books are not available on the WiFi store.

Syncing Audio Book Problem

Hello everyone,
I downloaded an audio book to my iPhone ($9.99) and I synced my iPhone with my brother's MacBook and it deleted the audio book from my iPhone and it uploaded it to my brother's MacBook. How do I get the audio book back into my MacBook?

Keeping folders seperate? Music/Audio Books problem?

I have several Audiobooks and technical mp3's on my computer and would like to be able to play them on my Ipod mini. The problem I am having now is that when I use the shuffle feature it encorporates tracks from the audio books. Is there any way to make a seperate folder that wont be accessed by the shufle feature? Also is there a way to copy plain .mp3 files into the podcast folder? Thank you for the help.

Audio books problem

I have a i pad 2 and after downloading iso6 i can find my downloaded audio books but i am not able to listen to them????

You can basically do what you like with labels in a Get Info window. You will find labels letting you arrange, for example, by album, disc number, track number on disc, etc. You could, if you wanted to, re-set the labeling so all 6 discs appeared as one giant disc, although then you would have to re-do the track numbering to avoid duplication.
I believe if you check on the Dougscripts website there is a script to join tracks together if you are wanting to make one single file out of many small files vs. just stringing them together.

Iphone audio books

Hi i have just got my Iphone and i see there is a problem with audiobooks that last longer than 13 hours.
When a play a book that is over approx 13 hours at some point approx 13 hours 15 mis the ipod just returns to the start of the book.
Is this a problem with myphone or is this just something the ipod will not cope with

Hi guys yes to audiobook is approx 15 hours long and is in one Mp4b file.
This book has been converted from a mp3 audiobook, i converted it to the mp4b format with Mp3 to ipod audiobook convertor i foung on the web and it converts to one file with no chapters.
I have now change the original file i have split it into three segments of approx 5 hoursand now it works ok.
Have you got any sugestions on how to convert mp3 books to to the ipod audiobook format

HT4528 iPhone 5 Passcode Problem

I just bought the iPhone 5 and enabled the passcode lock. My problem is that the passcode is sometimes rejected and other times it is accepted. I am sure that I am entering the correct passcode. I even filmed myself doing so to double-check and have allowed family members to try and enter my passcode to make sure that it is correct. I would say 95% of the time my iPhone accepts my passcode and unlocks my phone and then the other 5% of the time the iPhone does not recognize the passcode and locks me out (then I must wait 1, 5, or 15 minutes until it accepts it). Does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? Is this a software bug?

I've only seen this when there is a carrier account setup problem.
Try restarting the iPhone and then restoring it. If that doesn't take care of it, try contacting Verizon again.

IPhone Audio Output Problem

I got a pair of blue tooth headphones, but when I pair it up with my iPhone (1G) it doesn't play any songs, I can hear them coming out of my iphones speakers, but not the headphones....
I fiddled around with my phone and discovered that the Voice Memo app has an 'audio device' button at the top left, which allows me to listen to my voice memo's through the headphones.
So I'm asking if the 'iPod' app/icon has one too and where? Or if there's some option in the 'Settings' app.

There is no setting. The original iPhone does not support the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile, a Bluetooth profile that allows for the wireless transmission of stereo audio from an A2DP source (typically a phone or computer) to an A2DP receiver (a set of Bluetooth headphones or stereo system).

I purchased the audio book the sum of all fears it was accidentally deleted and when I try to download it again in the purchased section of itunes only 2 of the 5 parts are available.

I solved my missing audio book problem. Here are some of the details.
The files were there on the HD but iTunes was not showing them infact there was no audio books shown. There was not even an audio book option in the iTunes window. All of my Audio books have been downloaded from the iTunes store to this machine. This is a glitch in the Leopard upgrade.
The good news is the resolution was simple enough. I had to re-authorize the iMac again and then all of the books showed back up and the audiobooks folder was visible in the iTunes window.
Researching the problem uncovered a problem that others may be having with fileformats of audiobooks that are purchased from a non itunes source or those downloaded from CD's This was not my problem since all of my books were purchased from the Apple iTunes store.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

Try resetting the iPhone (since you've already restarted). Hold down the home and power buttons until you see an apple logo. Then let go of them.
If that doesn't work, try connecting to an actual wifi (starbucks or something).

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. I can not find my audio books on my iPhone.

I have tried to sync my 3 recently purchased audio books with my iPhone with out success. The files work fine on my MacBook, but I can not see them on my iPhone. There is no field for Audio Books in “More” on the phone. I can see a new graph of data labeled “Documents and Data” at the bottom of the screen in iTunes on the MacBook next to the Sync button. I presume this to be the files I am looking for, since I appeared immediately after my last sync. Still I am unable to find or listen to the files on my phone.
In an attempt to correct this problem I just reset my phone. All works well still no audio books.
Also I have noticed I am also having trouble syncing newly acquired music to the same iPhone.
iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4
MacBook Pro 13-inch, OS X10.9
Any suggestions?

If you have them on your computer's iTunes then you can re-sync them to your device (are they in the Books part of your computer's iTunes library ?) - that has not changed, only the layout of iTunes has changed with the left-hand sidebar not automatically showing, though you can enable it (option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC)
If you don't have a copy of them on your computer nor on a backup then you will need to contact iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download - as far as I know it's never been possible to re-download aubiobooks from the store without contacting iTunes support.

After much trial and error, I have finally unlocked the mystery of how to remove Audiobook files from the iphone without changing the file name or type. Here are the steps:
1. Plug in your iPhone to your computer
2. Launch iTunes
3. Click on the left-hand menu option that says "books"
4. All the audiobooks (such as iTunes or Audible) will be here with cover art for each one. If you right click on these titles, you will have the option to "Uncheck Selection" or "Check Selection" depending on whether or not it is on your iPhone.
5. If you want to remove an audiobook from your iPhone, simply right click and select "Uncheck Selection"
6. Sync your iPhone
7. If you are still having problems, you have probably changed your sync options for music. Change them so that you are only syncing selected items(there are 2 different places to control these options, the "Summary" tab(which should have the "Option" "select songs and videos..." checkbox checked) and the "Music" tab(which should have the "selected playlists, artists,..." checkbox checked).
8. Magically those pesky audio books that you know and love are no longer on your iphone
9. Write Apple a nasty email and ask why $10 million in audiobook revenue hasn't warranted a software change to make this easier to understand and do.

I don't know how many contacts you have, but if it is a reasonable # maybe you can enter all of them into icloud and have them sync to your device going forward.
