HT4528 is there a way to erase everything/reset my iPhone 4 from a different location?

i need to erase all info, texts, call history, etc. from my phone and i dont have the phone. Is this possible and how?

It does, however require that you have iCloud signed on on the device, and Find My iPhone turned on in iCloud. I presumed that since that is what I had specified to the OP, that the response (incorrectly stated as it was), was referring to that caveat....
But....maybe not.....

  • I recently had my hard drive replaced and now iTunes won't allow me sync my iPhone without deleting all the media contents and replacing it with the existing library. Is there another way without erasing everything?

I have already backed up my iPhone, yet it still will not allow me to move the contents of my phone onto my computer. Rather, it wants to delete everything off of my phone and replace it with the contents on my iTunes. Is there a way I can integrate both my iTunes and iPhone? There used to be autofill on iTunes, but I can no longer find it.

There are two methods, a reinstall of OS X only and a erase and install, which will wipe out your data and programs.
With 10.7 and later operating system versions, you really can't go back to exactly the way OS X was when you first bought it as Apple downloads OS X now and won't give a older copy, only the most recent updated issue in that version.

When I went to sync my iPhone, I accidently hit restore and it made my iPhone have all of the settings of my iPod Touch, erasing my iPhone pictures and contacts. Is there any way to get everything back?

Not to doubt you, but something sounds fishy. I can see accidentally clicking Restore, but to load your Touch's information you would have had to select your Touch's backup file after restoring, which would be hard to do by accident -- unless your iPhone and Touch have the same name?
In any case, your iPhone should have its own backup file on your computer. You can click Restore again and this time select the iPhone's backup file (there should be a device name and date associated with the pop-up window at the end of the restore process). This process will erase your iPhone, reload the OS, and then when you select your backup file then all your iPhone settings, data, sync options, etc. will be re-loaded, including your media (if you auto-sync ... if you manually manage music and video on the iPhone then you'll need to re-select the items you want loaded onto it).

  • My laptop screen when black now it will not turn on or off. And is there a way to see everything that has been done to my laptop at a apple store?

My laptop has been in the apple store to be fixed more times in the past 2 years then you could imagine. They just replaced a defective wire in it, and hardrive not even a month ago and now the screen just went black and wont turn back on. Also is there a way to see everything that has been done to this laptop through the apple store?

If I were you I would call Apple Customer Relations (800) 767-2775.  Tell them exactly what you stated in your post in a polite way.  See what they can do for you.

Not if you set up very carefully what you want synced from your computer.  Make sure you have not set things to sync automatically and manually choose the settings of what gets synced

No, you need to connect it to a computer running iTunes to manage the iPod's content (or erase it).

  • Is there a way to erase data without reinstalling the system?

    Hi
I have an old PowerMac G5 that I want to sell. I want to erase the hard drive, but I no longer have the system disks. Is there any way to erase the data without reinstalling the system?

    Hi-
You could set up a new user (Administration) account, and then delete the old user account that has data related to it.
Once that is done, if you want a more secure elimination of the data (so it cannot be scavenged) clone the drive to a second drive, and then you can erase and write zeros to the first drive.
Reclone the cloned version back, and you should have a very clean, "fresh" system drive.
    Use SuperDuper! for the cloning.
Mind you, I haven't tried that process, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Keep a copy of the system drive (backup), just in case......

  • I plugged in my phone into my mac and i clicked restore by accident, and it now has all of the things from my old phone. is there a way to undo everything?

I plugged my phone into my Mac which i have never synced before and it restored ALL of my old things from my old phone. is there a way to undo everything?

iPods do not work with "accounts."  They work with your iTunes library.  You don't have to set up a new iTunes library for each iPod.  One iTunes library can sync with as many iPods, iPhones, and iPads as your own, at the same time.  iTunes connects to and treats each device separately.
However, if your iPod nano is set up for automatic syncing with an iTunes library that is NOT your current iTunes library, you cannot sync your current library to it without replacing its existing content.  Do you have access to the previous iTunes library, the one the iPod currently synced to?  If so, you should transfer your song files from that iTunes library to your current iTunes library.  Then, sync our iPod to your current iTunes library.  You can post back to get more info about the procedure.
If you don't have access to that previous iTunes library, the approach is to first offload the song files from the iPod to your computer's drive, then add the song files to your current iTunes library.
You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
You can then sync your iPod to your "consolidated" iTunes library.

  • Is there any way to transfer EVERYTHING from an ipod touch 1st generation to a new ipod touch?

i have an ipod touch first generation and recently purchased a new ipod touch. is there a way to get all the photos and text from the old one to the new one?

Easy.  Make sure all music and apps are in your iTunes library and just restore you new iPod from the backup of your old iPod.  Make sure you make a backup of the old one right before.  You should be offered that option when you first connect your new iPod to your syncing computer.  I was.

  • I have an iphone and an ipad (which are connected by the same apple id) i broke the phone and sold it but i didnt get to factory reset it because it was broken, is there any way for me to wipe my iphone from my ipad?

i have an iphone and an ipad (which are connected by the same apple id) i broke the phone and sold it but i didnt get to factory reset it because it was broken, is there any way for me to wipe my iphone from my ipad?

    Try this:
Open the "Find my iPhone" app on your iPad, fill in your AppleID and password at the start up screen, and you should see a list of all your devices and their current location, if connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile data network. Devices not connected will be shown as "offline". But you can still trap on the icon and hit "erase iPhone" in the right hand window.
If your iPhone is not listed, you did not activate this feature during the setup of the phone and it can't be erased remotely.
If the phone is listed, even as offline, tap on "erase" to send the erase command. The next time your device will be connected to any kind of network, the content will be erased.
