I just upgraded the software on my iPhone 4s. Now the touchscreen doesn't work and on the screen is the itunes logo, an arrow and a plug. I have powered it off and on and nothing changes
The iTunes icon and cable means that it's gone into recovery mode - you will need to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and you should be able to use that to reset the phone, and you can then restore/resync your content to it

Help, as above, lost power part way though verifiying last update.
Now all i see is the plugin symbol with an arrow, and the itunes symbol

IPhone 4 stuck on iTunes with plug screen
I have an old iPhone 4 (32 gigs) updated with iOS 7. The phone hasn't held a charge for many months unless it's plugged in, the charging lightening bolt doesn't appear when it's plugged in, and the power-off slide bar doesn't appear when I press the home and power buttons. Also, iTunes on my computer does not recognize the phone when it's plugged in. A few days ago, the iTunes logo with the plug image suddenly appeared on the screen and I cannot get it to go away or get past it to access my phone. When I have been able to turn the phone off and then back on, the apple appears, but eventually the blue iTunes logo with plug comes back and stays on constantly.
I have a recent iCloud back up (since iTunes hasn't recognized the phone when I plug it into my computer), but not sure what good that will do since I can't get past the iTunes logo and my computer doesn't recognize the device. I have a new iPhone 6, but have important information stored on the old iPhone 4 that I didn't want transferred to the new phone. Any ideas on how to get into the phone again? cant get my new iphone 4S to sync with my computer. I already downloaded the new itunes on my computer and still it just locks it up.
Restore the phone as New, and do not reload your backup. If you still have a problem with it you have a hardware problem.

I have an iPhone 5c. When I woke up this morning to take it off the charger, the iTunes icon was in the center of my screen with an arrow and a white plug illustration. I have rebooted and it is still stuck. Any suggestions?

I just finished downloading and attempting the install of ios 7 on my iPhone 5. I'm using the newest version of iTunes.
And now, I'm stuck at the screen with the iTunes logo and the plug. But no matter how many times I try, recovery mode will not work. My phone is currently useless unless I can figure this out.No problem, glad to help!
Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine. -

So, I got this problem with the black screen with a cable and the iTunes logo in it. I tried restoring it, but in the middle of the process, the iPhone turns off (and it is still connected to the computer) and I get an error message (1656). I already tryed the solution that I have to find the "hosts" file, but there's no "gs.apple.com" line to be deleted.
What do I do?I tried to do this at least 4 times! the iTunes is running the restore but at the end he's failed.. he say there is an error ! I think number -1.

Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Use iTunes to restore your device.

Sounds like a 'stuck' Shift key. You could try to take the key off and put it back on yourself (should be some info on that from ifixit) or just take it to your local Apple Store and have them fix it.

Upgraded my phone to iphone 6 from iphone 4. My iTunes with all my music is on a computer that no longer works and can't access the music. Will iTunes Match allow me to get my music off of my iphone 4 and put it on my iphone 6? Sorry about copying twice, new to this.
Do you have iTunes match? You need a computer to manage an iTunes match library.
