HT4528 My macbook is not discovering my iphone 5.

Help.

Hi Brenda,
Not sure what you are experience here. Do you have the most current version of iTunes loaded on your Mac? If so, when you say it is not "discovering" the phone, what do you mean? What happens, step by step, when you plug it into the computer?
Cheers,
GB

Why is Airdrop on my new Macbook Pro 10.9.5 not discovering my iPhone 5s iOS8.0.2
    Bluetooth on.
    On same wireless home network.
Selected Airdrop to everyone on my iPhone 5s.
Macbook Pro was bought in August still not discovering my iphone. Airdrop icon in Finder just keeps spinning.
I'm signed into my Apple ID on the both devices. My admin login account for my Macbook is also connected to my Apple ID.
If only i could transfer selected photos to my Macbook!
    Help!

    Hi there Musicoshi,
It looks like this feature will be avlaible in OS X Yosemite later this fall. Take a look at the page below for more information.
    Apple - OS X Yosemite - Apps
With AirDrop, sharing files has never been easier.
AirDrop makes sharing your files between Mac computers simple. And now it works between Mac and iOS, too. So with just a few clicks on your Mac, you can take a file from any folder and use AirDrop to send it to a nearby Mac or iOS device. It’s perfect for, say, sharing a document with a coworker in the next room or sending a presentation to a client across the table.

  • Wifi signal working on my MacBook, but not on my IPhones.  Why?

I've been having trouble with my network signal strength for the last few weeks since my service started.   My ISP is DirecTV.
Today, my service went down completely and after I called them, it came back about an hour later.  I now have Internet service on my MacBook, but not on any of my mobile devices, including IPhones.  They are unable to see the base station.
I've rebooted many times.  Occassionally, it will see my network signal, but then it drops off.  I have a Motorola SB5101 Modem.  One thing I do know from calling DirecTV so often is that the tech on the phone today did change my IP address.  Does that have anything to do with my problem?
My fear is that if I call them again, I will once again be without any Internet access, so I'm waiting patiently on a Thursday appointment, but if I can do anything to fix it now, I'd like to.  Thank you.

there might be something different on the mac you can try appleid.apple.com and reset your password i would also check the mac to see which appleid is signed you may have multiple apple ids and not know

  • Messages on MacBook Pro not syncing with iPhone

    Hi,
I'm using an iPhone 5 running IOS 8.3 and a MacBook Pro running 10.10.3.
In the past I have been using messages on my MacBook and my iPhone.  If I sent a text via my phone, it showed up in messages on my Mac and vise versa.  Since the iWatch has come out and I upgraded my IOS on my phone, the messages work on both devices but I cannot "see" them on both.  In other words, if I start a conversation using messages on my mac, it works fine, but they don't show up on my phone.  Same holds true in the reverse.
I have deleted the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist from my User Library and rebooted.  I double checked settings on my phone, and my apple ID and my cell phone number are set up for both sending and receiving. I turned my phone onto Airplane mode and back on, and restarted all devices multiple times.
While I'm not crippled and can send/receive messages from both devices, I would like to get them so conversations are showing up on both devices.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
    TIA
    Nancy

    Hi,

  • New MacBook Pro not working with iPhone remote

    Hi all,
I absolutely cannot get the iPhone remote app to work with itunes for whatever reason!
it's driving me crazy never had any issues on my old macbook, its defo on the same wifi, i can ping it etc, I'm faily handy with OSX and the like as i'm a software developer, so I know it's not a firewall issue and the phone is on wifi.
it just doesn't pop up to let me enter the code in iTunes under devices when I'm trying to register the Phone with the machine,
for the record the phone has been synced with the itunes library in question and I have clicked the forget all remotes button in iTunes prefs, and the 'look for iphone remotes' box is checked
so I've pretty much done everything bar uninstall itunes, is that really necessary? is it worth deleting the itunes prefs file??
    Thanks for any advice,
    Cheers,
    John

Have you tried wiping the remote app from the iphone and starting over ?

  • Why is my new Macbook pro not reading my iphone 3GS device but my Windows desktop does not seem to have this problem?

Whenever I plug my iphone 3GS into my windows PC I have no problem syncing and backing up my apps etc but whenever I plug it into my new macbook pro, it simply cannot read my device at all and everything is fully updated. Help please. Thank you

I cannot recall the DVD player ever being a place to "store" videos - it is simply an app to play videos.
If your machine is new, then iMovie should be included as the "shrunk" version of iLife is included with Lion (iMovie, Garageband, and iPhoto). However, iMovie is not a place to store videos either - it is a video editor. You import your clips and edit them in order to then burn to a DVD or share via a social media site.
Have you considered simply dragging the clips to your folder "Movies"? That would be a great place to just store them (please be aware that videos are usually large files, so keep your hard drive space in mind so you keep a minimum free and available for the OS to operate properly):

  • IMessage on MacBook Pro not connected to iPhone

Messages on my MacBook Pro no longer seem to be connected to my iMessages. When I go into older messages, the recipient names are highlighted red, despite being iPhone users - and using phone numbers as addresses. When I attempt to create a new message, it says "Google Talk" in the text box. Any suggestions?

I would recommend upgrading to Mavericks.  I had this issue on my 2010 MBP 13" inch and the free upgrade from apple solved the issue.

  • My iTunes library on my new Macbook will not sync to iPhone 5

I just got a new MacBook Pro and spent a lot of time organizing my music into new playlists, deleting old music, etc.  When I plugged in my iPhone 5 to update it with the new library, the new playlists I had just created disappeared and it wouldn't sync to the new library.  This was very frustrating to me.  I then did a sort of "test run" with my much older iPod and it seemed to sync fine.  I don't know what to do.  I've tried checking and unchecking the Sync Music box, restarting both my computer and iPhone, and I even restored my iPhone to factory settings.
It often stops at the "waiting for changes to be applied" stage, or, sometimes, it will sync just some of my music.
I've about had it.  All I want is for what is exactly in my iTunes library to sync to my iPhone and I can't figure out what is going on.
    Please help!!

  • My iphone 5 does not discover other iphones via bluetooth, can anybody help me out here?

I recently bought an iphone, everything works perfectly fine except the bluetooth. When I tried to connect to another iphone 5 it didn't work :(
Any kind of help would be appreciated! Thank you!

    As already provided:
And, it won't work, as File Transfer, by Bluetooth is not supported on any iPhone. You can Tether or use third-party peer-to-peer apps for photo sharing & game playing, but that's it.

  • Why does my macbook pro not discover a bluetooth headset?

I have a Philips SHB6110 bluetooth headset. I went to the place where you can set up a new bluetooth device, but it does not show the device on the list.
The headset is on and charged.
    Any answers?

    Hello sig,
I don't think, that you completely understood my question. The problem in your question, is that there is something wrong with the sound output/input, but my problem is, that my headphones will not pair or even be discovered by my computer.
However, during the time, that it took to get the first answer on here, I found it out myself.
While pairing, your headset must be in a so called "pairing mode" you can get it by switching your headset off, then holding the power button until the LED starts blinking red and blue. Then your mac should discover it without a problem.
The audio quality is quite bad on this headset, so I will only be using it for skype. It's really weird to listen to music on these.
    All the best,

  • Macbook pro not syncing with iphone/ipad photos

My iphoto on my Macbook Air has stopped updating photos from my phone. The ipad syncs them but the MBA doesn't. It stopped at the end of March and hasn't added any since then.. any ideas? Everything else syncs, ie contacts, calendar etc.
I've tried disabling Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane and iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane, rebooting and reenabling both as previously advised. This didn't work.
    Thanks

Reset iOS devices and your Mac.
    Tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Photos off then back on.
And one more time on your Mac. System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photos then reselect it.
Give iCloud a minute or two to re sync the data.

  • Mail from Macbook Pro not syncing with iPhone

I am trying to set up my Mail account (which is set with Gmail) from my computer to sync with my iPhone. Unfortunately the iPhone goes is synced with Gmail and says that I have over 2000 emails. How can I get my iPhone to sync with my Mail app from my computer?
Also, I have deleted the account from my iPhone, but it still shows up on my iTunes. When I sync the iPhone, the mail settings are put back into my iPhone. How can I erase the gmail settings from my iTunes?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jude

You don't sync account mailboxes and messages with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account via the iTunes sync process. You can transfer account setup info only from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process.
Using the iPhone's mail client to access an email account is no different from using the Mail.app on your Mac for accessing the account. With a POP account, new messages recieved at the incoming mail server are downloaded, and when accessing a POP account with a new email client for the first time, all messages that remain at the incoming mail served for the account will be downloaded as new messages, since the new email client being used has never accessed the account - in this case, with the iPhone's mail client.
With an IMAP account, all server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
You deselect transferring the account settings for this account from your computer to your iPhone at the same place where you selected this - under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
