Not authorized...cannot load songs from iTunes into iMovie
Hello,
I was importing some songs from iTunes into iMovie, something I've always done and never had a problem with before, until this wknd. After I had loaded in the songs into my iMovie timeline, and they played just fine, I then started getting pop-up boxes with the msg. stating: "This computer is not authorized to play...mp4... If you purchased this song you can open iTunes and authorize this computer to play this song by entering your Apple ID password." I did indeed click on the link to authorize, and put in my password, and then when I tried loading the song again, I got another pop-up box w/an Error msg. What gives? I have never seen this before. I checked out the authorization on my computer in iTunes, and it did state that I am authorized (I am the only one who uses the computer). I read some of the posts, do I have to De-authorize, then authorize again? I just don't understand the problem. I even tried burning the songs I wanted onto a disc, then tried re-importing them to iTunes, and it was still the same problem! I thought the whole idea of iTunes was to be able to play them with a project.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thank you.It is a bug that Apple is aware of and apparently working on. I think it is an iTunes bug since it seems to effect both iDVD and iMovie. See these for a few examples...

I am trying to down load a movie from Itunes but it tells me that "i don't have write access for my Itunes media folder or a folder with it. Change permission ( in the finder ) and then choose store > check for available downloads".
I can't figure out how to change the permission.
MatsFirst of all try repairing disk permissions (use disk utility for this, you can find it on applications>utilities). Also remember that your computer has to be authorized to play itunes content. Go to the top bar on itunes, click on Store and Autorize this computer.
Just a tip, next time post this on the Itunes support section.

unable to update my ipad from my laptop when i try to update computor comes to a stop, locks up.i use xp system
First problem. Ur using windows xp. Get a Mac!!! : D but all kidding aside. There r a few methods you can choose from to try and solve the problem.
I know it says iPhone below but same techniques can be use for iPad
1. Reboot methods. The first thing to do is try to reboot the iPhone, which you can do by holding the top button and the home button for about ten seconds. In some cases, the iPhone is actually still on, but a bug stops the screen from displaying anything, so you can reverse the problem by doing the reboot. If you still see nothing on the screen, try to plug the iPhone in and again try the reboot methods to see if you can get the screen to display.
2. Restoring the iPhone. If the iPhone shows up in iTunes, but it still doesn't seem to turn on, it's definitely a display problem. When rebooting fails, you can restore the iPhone from iTunes, and this should fix whatever bugs caused the original issue. Realize that you'll have to reload your music if you restore to another software version. To restore, plug the iPhone in, go into iTunes and click the iPhone's icon on the side of the select screen. Click on the restore button and agree to the prompt asking if you really want to restore the iPhone's software.
3. Recovery mode. You can put the iPhone into recovery mode if it has a charged battery by holding down the home button before connecting it to iTunes, then continuing to hold the button until iTunes recognizes that the iPhone's in recovery mode. Recovery mode is a bare-bones way of booting the iPhone that allows you to perform a restore when you're dealing with a serious issue such as the iPhone failing to turn on or display anything on its screen. -

Any assistance is greatly appreciated

Restarting iTunes a couple times did the trick.

Error when trying to load songs from iTunes to my iPod
After downloading music from iTunes to my PC, when I try to sync it to my iPod classic I get the following error message.
"The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error has occurred (-48)"
Can anyone help?
ThanksHey there,
I have also ran into this problem at one time. However, after some thorough web searching I ran into this website, which offered numerous suggestions by different people who have come across this error. Hope it helps a bit. Don't be afraid to try any of these solutions.

i bought an ipod classic. somebody downloaded their music to it. I want to save that music to my itunes. how do i do this. I know I can;t keep anything they bought but I would like the rest of the music. can anyone help me
The rest of what music?
Since you know you are not entitled to keep music purchased by someone else, and since the music on the iPod was placed on it by someone else (who presumably bought it), what exactly do you think you can keep?
If "the music you wish to keep" is actually free of copyright (in other words, it can be freely copied and distributed to anyone), then presumably you can obtain that music from the same source that it came from originally. Since you would need to confirm for yourself that it is free of copyright, your best bet would be to locate that music from a legally available source rather than someone else's iPod.
If the music was given away free to the person who originally owned the iPod, you would still need to ensure that it's "free of copyright" and that it would be legal for you to keep it. The fact that one person legally obtained it for free does not automatically mean that anyone else can have a copy of it. Once again, you would need to confirm the facts.
As far as I know, Apple still do not allow anyone here to discuss methods of copying someone else's purchased music onto your iTunes, so even if anyone here knew how to do it, they cannot tell you. -
3rd Gen. IPOD-Won't load songs from Itunes.
My sister gave me her 10 GB 3rd Gen Ipod, and it didn't come with the software. I used the Ipod updater and loaded the latest software. Itunes opens when I plug in the Ipod, but a window comes up that says the songs cannot be copied onto this Ipod.
All the songs have been imported from CDs, so I don't understand.
Please help!
Thanks,
JessThe message you got - did it go something like The iPod "whatever" is linked to another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes library and replace all existing songs....
If so, you should click on the affirmative answer and then you can sync. -
need help with sync to my phone I sync but only a few ring tones show up then they go away when I try to sync more. how do i sync and them stay?
Your problem is that everyone seems to be using the same iTunes store account (ID). That's fine when a family wants to share purchased items, but that's the rub - everyone is tapping into the same account, so they can download whatever is available.
As for icloud accounts, icloud is designed for single user use. If multiple users share the same icloud account then all their devices will be synced together - same emails, same contacts and calendars, same notes, etc. There is no privacy or division of data in this scenario. The usual advice is for everyone to have their own ID for icloud, and share the family ID for iTunes store. -
I down loaded songs from my playlist off my computer to my iPod, the playlist on my iPod shows the title of the song, but no music plays and my iPod shuffles to the next available song. I down loaded about 300 songs at once, was that to much at one time ? How do I get those songs on my iPod without duplicating song titles on the playlist? Plus I have a couple of song duplications on the playlist, can't figure out how to remove them.
If iTunes purchases, delete and redownload by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise delete and resync if they play OK in iTunes on the computer -

I can't fnd the question I asked in here roughly an hour ago - concerning if I can load songs from a "non-apple" device. I have a SanDisk that I'd like to load my songs into iTunes - is this possible?
A.C.,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
iPodRip Software
PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=394618&messageID=1263275 -
I downloaded several cds to my external hard drive in .mp3 format. Later, I copied them to iTunes. The songs only play when the external hard drive is plugged in. I tried to load the songs from iTunes to my iPhone and the songs don't play. I thought iTunes allowed me to transfer music to my iPhone and play it. What am I doing wrong?
Hi skoorb1,
When adding music to iTunes, you can set it to either make a local copy of the file, or simply point to the original location of the file (for example, on an external hard drive). If it is set to do the latter, it will not be able to play or transfer those files when the external hard drive is not plugged in. You may find the following article helpful:
