To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
2. Hold the Safari app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close Safari
4. Re-launch and test Safari

If they have 'open' next to them then that implies that they are already on your iPad - if you tap on the 'open' button does that open the app ? If it does then they are on your iPad. You've checked all your homescreens and tried a soft-reset to see if they show after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Post your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

I have 2 i4 phones. I can sign on to iCloud on 1 but never on the other. Does anyone have the answer to this. I have tried to change my password but I still have the same problem. I keep getting message "Verification Failed The request timed out"

I upgraded to 2 - i4 phones with 2 different phone numbers. I can sign on to iCloud on 1 phone but never on the other. Firstly, go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with the ID you use for iCloud. A new password will be sent to your associated email address.
If that doesn't work, for example because it's going to an address you can't access, then you will have to contact Support. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. on my iphone 3gs, i had the same error. i finally found help that worked on the internet. “Go to Settings > General > Date and Time > Set Automatically > On. My setting was set to 'OFF' (no idea how). I changed it and now i can log into game center, the app store and itunes once again.

Did you change the Apple ID primary email to another email address or did you create a whole new Apple ID?
Go to settings>itunes & app store and if it shows your old apple id at the top then tap on it then sign out and then sign in with your new apple id email.
