HT4539 My music and apps won't stay on "on"

Help please

So they are crashing I will assume. Best way that I know is to close all apps. And if that does nothing a restart. And if still nothing. I think it's like a "hard" restart or something. Sorry I forget lingo. Where you press and hold down home and power buttons until it shuts down. Sorry if that's not what you were asking. Just thought I'd give it a try since I'm on here poking around. =)

  • My Itouch (3rd generation) is making a fuzzy sound even with volume muted, music and apps won't play/work, and turns off completly at random times... Help!

The same thing is happening to my sisters Itouch and we can't figure out whats wrong. Right now, I can't even get mine to turn on! Is it some kind of virus?  Anyone know whats happening and how to fix it, please help! Thank you so much!

  • One of my apps won't stay open after iPad and app both had update

After updating with the new update for the iPad I updated my nook app. Now my nook app won't stay open. I've restarted my iPad multiple times and tried it with and without wifi still won't stay open.

I suggest trying the update again after an hour or two.  Sometimes, the notice that an update is available comes an hour or two before the developers actually sends the revised app out to be downloaded.

  • Certain music pieces and apps won't download from my iPod to iTunes on my MacBook

I want to put what is on my iPod on my new MacBook, but certain pieces and apps won't download because my computer isn't authorized (so it will delete it from my iPod if I sync), but when it asks me to authorize it it uses an old Apple ID that doesn't exist anymore and to which I do not have access. Any ideas how to fix this? I just want to be able to sync my iPod with this computer without worrying about losing anything.

Read the "iTunes and App Store Content" section, especially the "Transferring purchased content" link there.

  • Why won't my phone to synch music and apps after ios6 update?

I have a 3gs and I just updated my phone to ios 6.1.3 - there was an error that happened in the middle of restoring my phone after the update, but all my contacts, photos, email, messages seem to have transfered ok...everything except my music and my apps. However, when I go to sync my phone in itunes, the option to sync is completely greyed out.  I've tried restoring the phone again after itunes prompts me whenever I plug it in, but after selecting "restore from backup" it never gives me an estimated completion time - it's like it's just booting up without actually doing anything. I've tried syncing via wifi but the option to sync is still unavailable. How do I fix this?

Well you do not have enough space to update to 7.1  You need at least twice as much space as the size of the update file.  You willneed about 3.5Gb  What you could do is make sure youhave a good backup (backup http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766) then transfer any purchases to your computer using itunes.  Connect your phoen to itunes on your computer, select the phone form the left then click on file in the menu bar and then devices and then transfer purchases.  After that you will need to delte more things from your phone.  Looks like it might have to be music and/apps that you have to delet as you have used ablt 5 GB of dat aon your phone.  the apps should be on itunes in your computer and you can sync them back.  camera roll photos will be in the backup. Any other photos that you transferred form the comptuer to your phone should be on your computer and you can sync them back.  Once you have made enough space do the updata  then restore from the backup and then sync /transfer back what you need.

  • ITunes update wiped out my music and apps.  When I got everything back, now it won't sync.  It says I don't have enough space on iPod.  I have more than enough.

I Updated itunes and it wiped out all of my music and apps.  I had over 4500 songs and had to reload.  Some from backup, some from cd's.  Now when I try to sync my IPods and IPad, it says I don't have enough space to sync.  I know I do because I have less now than when I would sync before all of the nice update.

Depending on how you recovered the library iTunes may see the restored files as "new" content and not match them properly with what is already on the device. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash for the way I would normally approach the issue. You may need to manually backup and then restore the device in order to fix things.

  • My itunes will not start in Win XP. I get an error that says MSVCR80.dll can't be found. I am scared if I just reinstall iTunes that I will lose all my music and apps that are in the old itunes. What can I do.

My iTunes will not start in Win XP. I am getting an error that says MSVCR80.dll can't be found. I am concerned that if I just do a reinstall
of  iTunes it will overwrite or delete all the music and apps I have on the current app that won't start. When I boot the PC I get the following:
APSDaemon.exe - unable to locate. MSVCR80.dll not found. Reinstalling application may fix this problem. How can I get iTunes started without losing
all my music and apps? Thanks

It won't unless a problem occurs. Back them up, uninstall iTunes and all related components, and reinstall them.

  • My dad and I shared an iTunes account for years and now I'm getting my own, how can I keep my music and apps?

My dad and I shared an iTunes account for years and now I'm getting my own, how can I keep my music and apps? I'm worried that I won't have any ability to access my apps and music. We have our itunes separated on different computers, so I have all of my stuff separated from his, but I don't know how to put them in my new account.

Well... there really isn't any fully legal way to do this.
The simplest solution is to continue sharing the same iTunes purchasing acct, but create different ones for iCloud (assuming that's why you needed to do the split).
Slightly less kosher: Burn AUDIO CD's, of the music then copy them back to your new account.
BE sure to do this from original acount, To keep the music info, you'll  copy over the CDDB file (in prefs somewhere) - since this maintains the data of CDs that you've had in library.... (it isn't carried over onto a user created CD.)

  • How can I transfer music and apps from 1 ipod to another?

My computer crashed and my 2 sons got new ipod toches 4th gen and all of their music and apps were on that computer. Is there anyway to transfer contents from their old ipod to their new one?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

The next iOS update won't change this.
Are you able to transfer anything else from your iTunes library and computer via the iTunes sync process such as a movie, TV show, podcast, audio or print book, apps, and photos from your computer?
What is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

  • Transfering music and apps

My son has left home, and he always down loaded his music and apps from my Itunes account, he now has his own Itunes account, is there anyway I can move the music and apps to his account, or can his keep the music and apps on his phone/Ipad even if he has a new account ?
    Manic thanks

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you cannot transfer purchases from one account to another. You will find that his music and apps stay on his phone, and will likely continue to work, however he will be unable to update his apps and if he restores his phone, he will lose them.

  • HT203167 How do I re-install my music and apps that I paid for after I reset my phone???

My debit card has no money on it but I've already purchased music and apps why won't it let install the music and apps I paid for after I reset my iPhone??? I'm sure there is a simple solution to this I'm a new iPhone user so there are a lot of things I need to learn to use this phone properly!!! It is saying that my card is declined but I already paid for the things I want to install,it won't even let me install the free apps.

After you reset your iPhone, did you enter your Apple ID into it during setup?  The same Apple ID with which you made the purchases?  If so, you will be able to reinstall the apps without repurchasing them.
When you go into the store and locate one of the apps you previously purchased, after a moment, the purchase price should be replaced with iCloud download button.  That indicates your Apple ID already purchased that app and you need only tap the cloud button to redownload and install it.
If you have done local backups to a laptop/computer, and you cable connect your iPhone to that laptop/computer, you can use the Apps tab on the device screen to manage the apps--reinstall them.
If you had data in the Apps, whether that is retained will depend on how the particular App stored the data.  If it is backed up iCloud, you will get the data back once you download the app and launch it (may take a few minutes).
EDIT:  Same applies to music you purchased (including free purchases, on both apps and music).

  • HT5796 If I change my Apple ID will I lose my music and apps?

I'm planning on changing my Apple ID but I'm worried I'll lose my music and apps and anything else I did while using my previous Apple ID. That's why I wanted to know if I'll lose the apps and music I had downloaded and paid for.

You won't, but they won't be transferred to the new Apple ID afterwards; the applications will need to be updated from the old one, and you may need to be signed into the iTunes Store with it to make in-app purchases from them.

  • How can you use the same Apple ID for music and apps but have a different iCloud

Collectively in my family we have 1 iPhone 2 ipod(4th gen) and 3 iPad mini's and we like to buy music and apps through the same Apple ID so that we can all share it but we also have a problem about the iCloud.
My son has one iPod and one iPad and he would like his contacts and messages to be shared between HIS two devices but he would also like all of the pictures taken in the family to be shared
The same for my daughter and for me.
Is there a way of selecting which devices share what????
    Thanks a lot

You could and should set up different iCloud accounts in "Settings > iCloud", so that every user has its own email account, calendars, reminders, notes, storage for backups and app data (files etc.), by the way everyone could also use his own account for iMessage (Settings > Messages > Send & Receive) and FaceTime (Settings > FaceTime) so that you all could write and call each other.
Next the Apple ID for music, apps and other media: You all could just set up the ssame Apple ID in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores" for all your media purchases like songs, movies, apps etc.
