How to set up Verizon account on IPad 3 designated to AT&T?

If you just want to connect to Verizon email, that can be done.
If you want to use the data connection via 3G/LTE/4G, you cannot
as Verizon uses different wireless technology than AT&T does.
If you have a Verizon wireless account or are interested in
starting one to provide data to your iPad, you might want to check
into a MiFi device such as this one from Verizon:

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • IPad 2 can't set up a Verizon account

    I've had the iPad 2 for a few weeks and have been connecting with wifi without issue. I'm going out of town for the weekend so I figured I'd set up the Verizon 3G service. I followed the instructions, went to Cellular Data > View Account and expected to sign up for an account. It asks me for a login. I don't have a login, I've never had service with Verizon before and I bought the iPad 2 new (did I?). I tried to log in using the login I use with the iTunes store, no dice. I tried a few of the other login combos I have, nothing. I tried the Forgot Password and gave it the last digits of both of my credit cards as well as my zipcode. That didn't work either. So much for ease of use. I surfed the forums a bit and did not see my issue, the Google Gods didn't bring up anything helpful either. I did a factory reset, it still thinks I have an account...or likely more accurately, I think Verizon thinks this iPad has an account.
    Is this a known issue? Is there a known quick fix? I really don't want to have to spend 2 hours on the phone with Verizon playing "please press this button" only to get less than useful answer from the kind folks that have never heard of an iPad before. Someone take pity on an overworked geek who's long overdue for a weekend away and fill me in on what I'm missing here?
    FWIW, I did try to connect via the supposed cellular account and it did not exist, nor did trying to do so pop up any useful windows with signup info. I've seen a few threads mention this useful windows, I've never seen one. Its my iPad, nobody else has access to it. Hm. I just checked and it does have a cellular data number. I think I'm going to be really torqued off if my "brand new" iPad is some refurb that wasn't branded as such. Really torqued off.

    That's the first place I looked. Unfortunately I don't get those screens, I get the existing account login screen even tho I've never set up an account. I'm in the middle of launching 4 sites and have not even had time for lunch to day, I sure didn't have time to call Apple or Verizon and get this straightened out. I leave at 8am for a weekend trip that I really wanted this functionality for. Glad they sent me what appears to be a refurb whenI paid for a new device. Talk about getting the shaft.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    I purchased a new iPad Air with cellular last week and successfully established an account with Verizon on the iPad. Up until Saturday I was able to sign into View Account on the iPad in Settings and saw that my usage amount stayed current. I also was able to create a sign-on on the Verizon website and login with no problem up until Saturday. Beginning Saturday View Account on the iPad says my sign in credentials are incorrect. I know they are correct. Not only that the Verizon website says "the activity you are attempting is not available. Because Verizon is not offering unlimited usage I need to closely monitor because my teenagers have been using the iPad. I called Verizon and they blamed Apple. Are any others experiencing this? Is the Verizon website down?

    I called Verizon at 1-800-786-8419 and rep reset the account which solved the problem.

    The same way you would setup any email account using any email program on any type of computer.
    Go to the Verizon website and get all the info on the settings needed.

    I'm afraid there is no way too merge two icloud accounts together per se. However if you;
    1. Go to SETTINGS on your iPhone or iPad.
    2. Go to iCLOUD.
    3. Scroll to the very bottom, press DELETE ACCOUNT. Before you panic, this is not going to Delete your iCloud account. It is simply going to delete the bridge that connects your device to the iCloud.
    4. Choose to KEEP ITEMS ON YOUR DEVICE if asked.
    Then sign into your 2nd account, and this will merge both accounts onto one device. There is not much else you can do I'm afraid!

  • How do I cancel, modify, or update my checking account payment on the day (today) it was made to my Verizon account?

    This morning, after viewing my bank account status that indicated a little over 218 in my account, I made a payment on my Verizon account of 148.82. At the end of this initial payment to my Verizon account, I was told “You may cancel a checking account payment on the day it posts to your account. The amount will be reversed from your account balance.”
    I revisited my bank account a little later, to see if this payment had been posted. It had not, but the current status had then changed due to an auto-payment on another account that I had forgotten about, leaving my account with a balance of only 116. I need to change or reverse my payment to Verizon and submit it for 110 until Tuesday of next week (03 June 2014).
    I've called Verizon billing department, but have been unable to reach a representative due to the high volume of calls, and the call was disconnected. If I am unable to rectify this today, my payment to Verizon will cause charges to my bank account of $40.00 and a late fee to my Verizon account.
    The on-line website does not have a provision for it that I can locate. How can I do this???

    I recently purchased a the new (3rd gen) Verizon WiFi/4G iPad.  When I activate the cellular service, all that I see on the screen is Verizon and the bars for signal strength. How can I tell if I am receiving 4G or 3G data?

    My understanding is that  when you start it up that you will have service for at least one month.  The other thing to be aware of is the two types of deactivating your account.  You can see my post in the iPad 2 forum.  But basically, you can suspend or cancel your account when you don't want to use the data plan.  If you suspend your account, it will automatically start up again after a specific period of time unless you know to and remember to resuspend your account.  The advantage of suspending it is that you can activate and deactivate on the web.  If you cancel the account it will not start up again automatically, but I believe you have to call to start up the data plan.

    My Verizon account was automatically changed to AT&T. I've given AT&T a shot, but their service is not comparable to Verizon. AT&T has too many areas where i have "no service". I need to port my phone # back to Verizon, but i am being told that my phone # is not portable back to verizon. From what i have been reading, the FCC set up the Local Number Portability to enable customers to transfer their phone #'s from one carrier to another. But Verizon is refusing to port my # back because they do not offer service for my area. This is a Lie! Verizon does offer service for my area. My neighbors still have verizon.  I have asked Verizon if i change my address to my parents address (who still have Verizon phones), could i transfer back to Verizon, and i have been told no. I have gotten the FCC involved, but the process is moving slowly. If i do not cancel my AT&T phone by May 5, i will be in contract and would then have to pay the early termination fee. Does any one have a solution other than changing phone #'s? I can't change phone #'s becuse it is my business phone. Please help!

    That is what i have been hearing, pretty much i'm stuck. It's just irritating that the customer's are the people getting the bad end of this deal. I would have never chosen to switch to At&t, but now i am forced to be with a company that doesn't support my area. We don't even have an At&t in my city. I have thousands of dollars invested in advertising for my business and right now i have two options, switch phone #'s and spend more money or keep the phone # and miss out on business because my phone doesn't ring half of the time or i drop calls. I've filed a complaint with the FCC, but its in a stand still right now. Everyday i'm stuck with At&t as a provider is another day i could be losing business.
    I've looked at other carriers, but I am from a rural area and Verizon & Alltel are by far the best providers in the area when it comes to having reception.

    I'm trying to register for a My Verizon account with my new business phone line, in hopes that I can see when my next bill will be due, or if it has already been sent, but I've not yet received it.
    When I click to register for a My Verizon account, I am asked for my billing system password. I have never heard of this, though a search through these forums suggested that it might be the last four digits of my SSN. I tried inputting the last four digits of my SSN, the last four digits of my Tax ID number (as this is a business account), and even my Voicemail password. Nothing has been successful, and I am now alerted by the registration page that my account has been locked and I should contact Customer Service at 1-800-922-0204 to access my online account. Ironically, when I called this number, a voice-automated answering service asked for my billing system password again. After repeating the same entry attempts as I tried online (knowing they wouldn't work, but not having any other ideas), I was finally prompted that if I'd forgotten my billing system password, I should press 0 to speak with a representative. Pressing 0 brought forth another automated message, simply stating something along the lines of "Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless," and I was then promptly disconnected without the phone even ringing for a representative.
    How do I go about finding my billing system password so that I can create a My Verizon account for this phone line?

    If this is a business line (part of a business account) you may have to get the billing pw from your employer.  The billing pw is normally the last 4 of the account owner's SSN, which would be your employer, or the company's EIN #.  Depending on how the account is set up, you may not be able to have an account for your number, but I'm not sure on that point.
