HT4576 My time zone is 3 hours behind and won't allow me to change it.  Even when I turned it off the clock time is 3 hours behind!

The instructions given did not work,  I'm still 3 hours behind.  What do I do to get it back to Eastern Standard Time?  It changed when I updated yesterday

  • Trying to setup my new ATV and it won't set date and time, and won't allow me to log in with my apple ID.

Trying to setup my new ATV and it won't set date and time, and won't allow me to log in with my apple ID to homeshare OR to test te network, which I know is correct since I changed it. I live in an apartment complex and the router is in my roommates room. ANY suggestions? I'm at the point where I may return this because it has been nothing but a hassle. I'm very annoyed and just want the product that I paid for to actually work.
The ABOUT section says Network Time: Skipped (reachable) and Activation: Failed (skipped)
I'm also using my MacBook Pro as the homesharing with iTunes up to date.

I had a similar issue wuth my new Apple TV.  If you (or your roommate) are able to change the router firewall settings, do that first.  I don't know the ports that you need, except that 123 is one of them (to set the time).  Then restart the Apple TV.  See if that will get you through the activation process.  I actually ended up restoring mine to factory settings, but I'm not sure if that step was really necessary.
I understand your frustration, though.  Getting the Apple TV to work was such a pain -- it almost feels like it is not really an Apple product.

  • 7.4 upgrade causes super slow start up and won't allow Zone Alarm to open.

I recently upgraded my pc to iTunes 7.4 and until now have never had a problem with iTunes on my pc. After restarting it, it goes through the normal start up procedures until it shows my desktop image then it hangs there. After 5-10 minutes my desktop icons show up and the pc will work fine, itunes included with one exception. Zone Alarm now doesn't start up. Tried to reinstall but it still hangs in the same spot on restart and does the 'no icons's or pc use for 5+ minutes', then it's back to normal except no Zone Alarm.
    Any ideas? tia.

Repairing permission daily is a complete waste of time and will not help you. In fact, repairing the disk permissions needs to only be done about 2-3 times a year at best.
You say you verified the disk but did you repair it? Did you get a message that the "disk appears to be o.k."? What kind of install did you do? My guess is you did an archive and install.
Onyx is a troubleshooting tool and should not be used on a regular basis for anything. Caches do not need to be cleaned on a regular basis and everything else Onyx and similar utilities claim to do are handled by the system automatically. Do not use these utilities unless you are having a problem.
My guess is you have a serious problem with file corruption.
Have you tried creating a new account? Try that and see if the problem follows to the new account or not.

  • I've had my Mac since Feb, just this past week when I turn it on, the apple symbol shows and the loading icon appears, and that's all it does for hours and it never starts up.

    Hello,
I have had my MacBook Pro since February/March of this year. It has been working fine, up until this past week.
It froze on me one day, and I couldn't not do a force quit or anything so my only option was to hold the power button until it shut off.
It then reboots and it stays on the apple load up screen for hours. I then read the manual and tried the disk utility and it couldn't verify or repair my disk until after the sixth try.
Once I did repair it, I rebooted and once again I had the start up screen for like a day, until I just finally resulted in an erase install.
The erase install failed the first two times, and finally worked the third. My computer was doing fine for a day, I was reinstalling apps that came with the Applications disk.
Upon using software update to get the latest Snow Leopard Update 10.6.8 that is used to prepare for the Lion OS X Update, it downloaded, but after about two hours, the install failed, and none of the updates installed.
It told me to restart, and once I restarted my computer yesterday evening, it is STILL currently sitting at the apple load up screen. STILL.
I do have the Apple Care for four years, and I was trying to see what all could happen before I have to ship it off. I am a college student, and this resulted in me losing all my papers, work, and things that I've done so far, because I was unable to back up files.
I thought buying a Mac was a great choice because things like this usually don't happen! But I guess not!
Can anyone PLEASE help find a solution to this?

    Thanks for that information!
I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

  • My battery went dead and I had to plug it in. after several hours I went back to it and it is has an icon that is saying plug in and itunes.  It won't do anything else- nothing. I can't turn it off or or on and I have no access to my phone.

my battery went dead- I plugged in it.  several hours later I went back to it and it wasn't on. instead the only thing on the screen was a picture of the plug in and the icon itunes on top of it.  I have no idea what that means.  My phone will not turn on even after I hold both buttons. i was told a while back that the i7 program can mess this up and to hold both buttons down to reboot the phone.  I tried this but even this isn't working.  Any ideas?

How d I get a larger face time image on the desktop?  It is limited to about 1/3 the screen.
draging the double arrow does not exten the field.

    Hi,
The Menu items only become active when the call is accepted.
The icon on the call window appears when you mouse across it.

  • I just updated to latest Firefox version and now it won't open at all. I even tried to go back to the previous version using Time Machine on my Mac and FF just won't open.

Firefox won't open after downloading latest version this morning.

    Hi, JEvansIII.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try resetting your System Management Controller or SMC then launch iTunes after processing these steps.  If the issue persists, try downloading a fresh copy of iTunes by accessing the second link below.

  • Every time I try to close out Firefox, it locks up and won't shut down unless I contol-alt-delete. I recently downloaded the latest version, but I was having the problem prior, although intermittantly. What to do?

I use Windows Vista as my OS.
I can navigate from window to window in firefox, or navigate between pages on a website OK, and I can close out windows until I get to the last one, and then it doesn't respond. I don't get a message that it isn't responding, it just sits there and won't close.
I'm not having this problem if I use windows explorer, but it keeps not responding while I'm browsing, so thats just as frustrating.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

  • The History tab at the top of the screen. When I click it it shows history but it shows the same thing every time and wont change. Even when i click "all history" and delete it it is still there. How do i delete it?

Could you be specific where the files to fix this are?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I have to input a password to log in to my Macbook Pro Santa Rosa under Mountain Lion. Now suddenly the built-in keyboard doesn't work at all so I cannot use my computer. I also notice that the bluetooth function is activated automatically even though I turn it off. It looks for an external keyboard. Please help me out. Many thanks!

I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2.  My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone).  I  was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.
