OS X Yosemite caused Final Cut Pro to not run until upgraded. Says there are no updates available and will not let me install it - says I already have it.
Boxed in and can't move. Now FCP v 10.1
OSX v 10.10

FCP (10.1.3) works just fine on 10.10.. try to trash FCP then re install.

Sorry for being unclear.
When I am using the update in the App Store App, there will be a list of various applications that have updates to be installed (Final Cut Pro will be in this list). I will already be logged in with the Apple ID I use for everything (my dev account). I will be able to update all of the other various applications needing updating except for my Final Cut Pro. When I click the update button next to the FCP update, it will give me an error saying "This download is not available for this apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"
I have not had any applications refunded or cancelled and this has only happened since my update to Yosemite. FCP was working fine until the upgrade. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

I have OS X Yosemite on both systems, my macbook has final cut pro x version 10.1.4 and my iMac shows no updates available and is on version 10.1.1. I have tried looking in iTunes for the same update that is installed on my macbook under the same iTunes account, but it doesn't show any updates. I tried deleting from my iMac and it won't delete so I can reinstall it. any suggestions?

You need to be logged into the Mac App Store with the same Apple ID in order to see your updates. You speak about iTunes: maybe you meant that just as an expression to refer to your Apple ID, but just in case you didn't: you do NOT use iTunes to download mac software. You use the App Store application, available under the Apple menu.

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.

Final Cut Pro will not open

I broke it. After I did, I tried to uninstall it, but did not make a difference.
First I tried Delete User Preferences and could not find Final Cut Pro User Data under the Preferences folder. Now even com.apple.finalcutpro.plist does not exist. This is most likely because the application will not open and get to the point where it would care new User Preferences. After I uninstalled the program the registration page popped up and I re-registered so com.apple.RedFinalCutPro.plist is there, but nothing else.
So pretty much I open the program. The white box that says final cut pro and has ‘loading’ with words flashing past under it pops up. Then the words stop flashing and the white box disappears. At the same time Final Cut Pro disappears on the loading dock.
That is all I know. It is really really broken.

Not sure if this will even remotely help, but I had the same problem.
I reset my scratch disks, waveform cache, thumbnail cache, and auto save vaults, and it fixed the problem. One of my hard drives came unplugged while I was working. It threw my scratch disks all outta wack. FCP would open then close, like you said. So I shut off one of my hard drives so it would open the box that tells you your scratch disk is missing. Thats when I reset them.
I'm curious as to how you "broke it" to begin with. Maybe we can better help you if we know.

After upgrading to Maverick and the latest version of Final Cut Pro X (10.1) I can't open Final Cut no more. In the dock it says: Application not responding.

Downloaded and installed yosemite. Now iPhoto will not open and when i try to update it it says not available for my apple id. Help

Downloaded yosemite OSX 10.10 and now iPhoto will not open. When I try to update to iPhoto 9.6, it tells me it can not be be downloaded with "this Apple ID. It is the only Apple ID I have ever had. Please help

- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

My final cut pro will not open

i click on the application and the loading screen comes up and then it disapears and will not open the interface of final cut and all i see is the desktop any suggestions

Updated to PS 2014 for the CC updater in the top menu bar on the Mac, or so I thought but even after restarting I still have older version, despite "about" saying there are no updates. Any ideas?

In the Mac, the updater icon told me there were many updates. I had them all install and they did, supposedly successfully. However, after I opened PS, it's still the old version and if I go to Help and click updates, it says I have the lastest version, yet it's still 14.2 What's going on? Thanks.

I had the CC Desktop App tell me there were new versions available and got both Indesign (CC 2014) and Photoshop (CC 2014). Went to start Indesign and got an error: 1. Suggesting I uninstall and then reinstall. The uninstaller in the app folder had lost its alias link to the original uninstall file so I had to manually find it and un-install. Then re-did installation using the CC Desktop app, and now its starting. So I am doing the same with Photoshop now and have tried starting Indesign and it is now working ... So Id suggest check your application folder and look for a folder "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014" and if its not there then you may well have just updated the existing CC application. The 2014 is a totally new install ...

Final Cut Pro Will NOT Launch

Everything was fine yesterday. Now it quits after the FCP launch screen. It goes through loading all the plugins, then when the graphic disappears, the program quits and you're back at the finder.
Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I'm using version 5.

Have you tried the Sudo Shuffle (although I believe this is usually a solution when FCP isn't even getting as far as the plug-ins.)
1. Save any files or work you may have open, because you'll need to restart the computer after these steps.
2. Open Terminal (found at /Applications/Utilities/).
3a. In 10.3.9 or earlier Type: sudo update_prebinding -root / -force
3b. In 10.4.0 and later sudo update_prebinding -root / -force -debug
4. Press Return.
5. Enter your password when prompted.
6. The prebinding operation may take a few minutes. When it is complete, a new command-line prompt will appear. When this happens, please quit Terminal and restart your computer.
(Don't forget to Restart.)

Final cut pro will not save

when i go to save my project it says operation not allowed. it was letting me when i started working on my project but now it wont. how can i fix this. this project is very important and i have hours of work on it.

i also tried the auto save vault the last auto save file is old and there is still hours of data not in it. i also looked at the system preferences settings and the memory of data is set ok and the alloed space so there should be enough room and there is still gigs of space on my HD.

Final Cut Pro will not export

I have finished my project, no errors, all rendered and ready. When I go to export it it wont export. When I press command + e, it doesnt do anything. When I try anythin else, I get this error message: (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1). What do I do?

USB not loading and saying there are no files...

My USB has content but won't load properly: the drive shows on the desktop but with no name - just quotation marks when referenced.
When i open it the folder it says it's empty, but when I 'get info' there is over 12gb taken up.
I tried to use disk utility but it say it "error:live file system repair is not supported"
Despite the fact that it won't load properly, it won't let me eject as it says its in use - however I have closed every possible programme that could be using it and restarted my macbook several times.
When I try to use the USB on a Windows PC pretty much the same happens - showing empty even though it says half of the space is taken up.
So do I need to look at trying to recover the files that are on there or is it not too late to get this sorted? I'm very new to using Macs so any help would be much appreciated!

Pics synced to your iphone from your computer are one way- computer to iphone.
If these are the pics to which you are referring then copy them from your old computer or your backup copy of your computer, to your new one.
