If you don't use MobileMe then there is no point moving to iCloud.

  • IMac i7, late 2013:   Microsoft Outlook email, calendar, and contacts

Will I be able to open and read my Microsoft Outlook email, calendar, and contacts when imported to my late 2013 iMac and Mavericks OS X?

    Thanks LowLuster.
I do not want to purchase any additional Office software for the iMac if I don't have to.  I have been a Microsoft/Office/Outlook user for many years now, so I have bunches and bunches of email, calendar, and contact info that I would still like to access and read, use, update.
I would like to know if the Microsoft Outlook data (email .pst, calendar and contact) info once imported to the iMac will be accessible, readable, usable, updatable.  I need my email, calendar, and contacts.
I have already spent quite a bit of money on the iMac, and didn't plan on buying Office/Outlook for the Mac.

  • Can't sync Work exchange 2007 email, calendar and contacts on my Mac

I am new to Mac. I've been trying to set up my work email, calendar and contacts (Exchange 2007) on my new personal Mac without much success. I have all contacts, calendars and mail syncronized on my Iphone, but when trying to sync calendars via Itunes with Mac ICal, all it does is add ICal entries onto my Iphone (and then they appear twice on iphone and work calendar)
Haven't figured out how to import contacts into email either, although I had some success in setting the account up as a pop account in Mail (we use OWA otherwise for web access)- but can't send, just receive.
Please help - where can I find some stept by step guidance / tutorials on how to do this? I don't want to subscribe to MobileMe or install any windows or Microsoft software on my Mac. Many thanks in advance.

I could very well be wrong, but here's what I did.
At my work we got an Exchange 2007 server and I got an account on it, so I set up my iPhone, but I didn't sync it to the calendars on my desktop Mac, instead I went into Mac Mail, Preferences, Accounts, then added an Exchange account inserting all the same account information that I had put into the iPhone. Then my iCal, Mail, Address Book all synced over the air. I do not have MobileMe, but I'm not sure what my work has on their Exchange server.

  • I am using both PSE 13 and Lightroom 5.  When I use Lightroom as an external editor and save the photo, it shows up in PSE13 as an edited file but does not look any different.  Why doesn't it appear edited?

I am using both PSE 13 and Lightroom 5.  When I use Lightroom as an external editor and save the photo, it shows up in PSE13 as an edited file but does not look any different.  Why doesn't it appear edited?

People who have Photoshop, but don't have Lightroom, need ACR so that they can use Raw files. Without ACR they could do nothing with those (they may also like having ACR so that they can work on other kinds of image using the same kinds of adjustments and techniques, as are used with Raw files).
People who have Lightroom, can get access to Raw files regardless whether ACR is present or not. They can use Lightroom on other kinds of image also, using the same methods. LR can pass images directly into Photoshop without passing via ACR (or else does so transparently, which amounts to substantially the same thing).
ACR does not, strictly speaking, even need to be installed for this external editing to happen. In fact, not even PS needs to be - since a different image editor can be used instead, while still retaining the Adobe Raw conversion etc.
Lightroom "subcontracts out" specialised external tasks, in this workflow, but is still your "main contractor": the image is otherwise located, viewed, managed, adjusted/presented and output entirely using LR.
So IMO we can divide image processing into:
operations that involve pixels and layers and layer masks and adjustment layers etc (of the kind done inside Photoshop)
operations that involve parametric edits (of the kind done in ACR where you are not using a Lightroom based workflow; otherwise, done inside Lightroom)
When PS is called in, that's because those tasks are impossible or unsuitable to do in Lightroom. But those tasks can't be done in ACR either - by definition, since LR and ACR have exactly the same image processing "feature set".
Lightroom is irrelevant to the Bridge + ACR + PS workflow. This workflow requires both your PS and your ACR to be current enough, to support your Raw format etc.
ACR and Bridge are irrelevant to the LR + (image editor) workflow. It is in this case, only LR which needs to be current enough to support your Raw format etc.

  • Will Mail For Exchange sync calendar and contacts ...

    Dear fellow Nokia Users,
I have had my E71 for 3 weeks and I am very happy with it!
I am running a small company, and I am considering moving our email from IMAP to Exchange. As I have understood things, there is an application to install to use MFE.
Will calendar and contact be synced on the phone, or is it just email?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Jesper
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need a Microsoft Exchange Server for Mail for EXCHANGE to work.
For push mail to work with Exchange the MfE client uses Microsoft Exchange Activesync to connect to the server.
For IMAP - I think you'll need Nokia Messaging.
If you have an Exchange Server, then your content from your Outlook based service such as your calender contacts and tasks as well as your mail will work fine.
I rent an Exchange Service from one and one that works very well with the E71.
    Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software
If this post helped... Add some kudos!!

  • HT4872 Syncing email, calendar and contacts between iPhone 5 and ipad

I followed the above to sync my ipad with my iphone and I cannot set up the Carddav account. It will not accept ssl. Also my email does not sync between these devices. Any suggestions?

So I have begun the step by step:
Notes as I went (I wish we could do screen captures in here ...)
+*Set up sync from Entourage to iCal and Address Book Set up sync with iTunes or MobileMe, not both.*+
When I go into sync in entourage it gives me the option to "Synchronize contact with iTunes and MobileMe" (not one or the other just both - I have it checked)
*+First, on the iMac, run iSync, choose it's preferences, and reset sync services. That cleans up the sync database on the iMac+*
Reset Sync Service under the Advanced section is "greyed out" and as such I can not activate it? Running V3.02 --- OK turned off Entourage and iSync - when I restarted iSYnc it allowed me to reset.
+*In Entourage, open Preferences, go to Sync services, and choose to sync the Calendar and Contacts.*+
It prompts me at this point to Combine, Delete entourage, or Delete iCal and MobileMe (I chose Combine for lack of a better choice)
+*If you want to use MobileMe, then switch off syncing in iTunes. Open the MobileMe preference pane, and on the sync tab, hit the advanced button and reset again. When asked, choose to overwrite MM with the information on the iMac*+
I could not find a place in iTunes to turn off syncing? The only thing there was syncing og iPod but it was greyed out.
    Let's try ....
    OK - contacts seem good.
The caledar is stillhit and miss. I noticed I had created an invite to myself in the calendar - sort of a reminder to do something but still created an invite - this one does not show up and few others that are series not showing up?
I am closer however and will see how this works ...
Apple - it would sure be nice if you would just get with the worked on the *.ics files --- this is a huge issue on both the business and consumer side ...

  • HT201253 iPhone sync using iTunes gets stuck at Calendar and Contacts

This used to work a little while ago, and I cannot pinpoint when it stopped working - I can't
sync Contacts or Calendars to my iPhone 5s from my Outlook 2010 via iTunes.
I think it might have been the latest iOS release on the phone that messed things up, but I am
    not sure.
Whenever I try to sync iTunes hangs at 'Syncing Calendars' or at 'Syncing Contacts' depending on
which one I choose to sync. If i uncheck both options, under  'Info' in iTunes, the syncing will
complete without issues, but I really need my Calendar entries and Contacts ESPECIALLY.
    Here is what I tried:
    - Repaired, Removed reinstalled Outlook 2010
    - Repaired, removed reinstalled iTunes (12.0.1.26)
    - Tried to sync with a different User's profile for Outlook, a version that had all of my
Contacts and Calendar entries, and also a clean version with no Calendar entries.
    - Reset Sync History on iTunes
    - Deleted old backups and retried the syncing...
NONE of the above allowed me to successfully sync Outlook Calendars and Contacts with my iPhone
    PC - Windows 7, i5-2400 @ 3.10, 16 GB DDR3
    iTunes - version 12.0.1.26
    iPhone - 5s 16 GB, Version 8.1.1 (Verizon)

I had it hanging on Calendar sync as well ...
    This worked for me:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
I also had crazy dupes of calendar items previously except on my iphone, so the idea was to get the singular calendar of events synced back to my computer. So ...
I made sure Calendar was empty on my computer: ~/Library/Calendars/
    Cleared out. Emptied Trash.
Then per above link, cleared sync services from terminal:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
Plugged in iPhone, set my prefs again, sync'ed. Went thru the sync quickly and got everything back to normal with only single events.
The key here (on dupes) is to have at least ONE version of your calendar in good shape. And that may be thru your iphone backups.
(sorry I know I switched thread topics, but sync and dupes seem to go hand in hand)
    Hope this helps.

  • Best Advice for a working web-based email, calendar and contacts sync system

I am setting up an office with people that use Blackberry curves. They all have Gmail but that is not important at this point - what I am hoping to achieve is a working (note the operative word: working) solution for keeping a calendar, contacts, and email all in sync on the Blackberry devices. Google promises much but fails to deliver a working solution, their system is frought with problems form errors to duplicated events and contacts to slowing down the phone. Does anyone have an alternative scenario using some other free web-based solution that actually works well? Feel free to post your working solution!
    Thanks!

  • I use a Win7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my calendar and contacts. I can enter data in my Outlook Calendar and it will appear in iCloud, but data entered in iCloud does not sync back to Outlook.  ICloud syncs to my iphone fine both ways.

I use Win 7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my Contacts and Calendar.  They have stopped syncing...mostly.
Now, appointments I enter on my local Outlook (iCloud) Calendar goes up to iCloud fine.  But, data I enter on iCloud directly does not come down to my local Outlook iCloud Calendar.  If I reboot the computer, the iCloud data shows up.
Also, Contacts I try to enter on my Outlook (iCloud) Contacts goes up to iCloud fine, but does not show up in my local iCloud Contacts.
All syncing works with my iPhone.
I have signed out of iCloud on PC.  I have stopped syncing and re-started.  No change.
I have an .aplzod folder for iCloud.  I have a separate Earthlink.net.pst email account in Outlook and a me.com.pst Outlook email account (which I don't actually use) listed under Data Files.
Any help would be appreciated.  Curious that Outlook will upload to iCloud but not receive downloads unless I reboot.  However, rebooting does not download the missing Contacts.

    Hi Jim!
You've started off with some good troubleshooting steps, so let's see if we can take this a little further and figure out what the issue is with your iCloud contacts and calendars. I have two articles here that will help you troubleshoot this issue a little further, but the troubleshooting steps for both articles are exactly the same, so I will lay those out for you here:
Note: When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual (right-click) menu has also been disabled.
If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or 2010) and iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud. For more information, see iCloud system requirements.
When enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook ".pst" file to iCloud, and then remove the Calendars from the ".pst" file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud dataset within Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for iCloud Calendar. This also tests if the ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and pull updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel pane. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Completely close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not moving to your other devices or vice-versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the Windows Control Panel:
In Windows 8, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
In Windows 7 and Vista, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark, and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Ensure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook.
    Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to verify the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For additional information about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook, see this Microsoft support document.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • IPhoto nightmare. Tried to import photos using Nikon software for the first time and all my photos disappeared from iPhoto 8.1.2 (and everything from itunes too). Newly reinstalled iPhoto crashes as soon as I import anything now.

Macbook OSX 10.5.8, iPhoto 8.1.2. I just tried to import some photos using Nikon software (View NX2) for the first time. When I next looked into iPhoto it was empty (so was iTunes but that's another story). I had backed up photos fairly recently but don't use time machine. Searched in vain everywhere and must have done something wrong because iPhoto wouldn't then open at all, saying it was unreadable. After a lot more attempts to recover I uninstalled iPhoto and the receipts and reinstalled from my original disc. It seemed to be ok and imported some photos from my iphone but as soon as the import is complete iPhoto crashes and when opened again it is empty. Have tried this several times and have shut down and have tried rebuilding with the alt and cmd buttons but nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

not a reply but not sure how to add something to my own thread! It seems that Desktop was damaged too as when I try to open it a screen says there is no application selected to open Desktop with. No idea what I should choose! Any help appreciated, have really made a mess of my MacBook this time.

  • I am using Hover for my email address and I can not get it to work properly

I've changed the MX record to 10mx.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com (Hover's recomendation) but it's still not working.
How Can I get this to work properly?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hey KoobeP,
I have performed a DNS look-up on the domain stormbluedesign.com and can see that the MX record you have added exists within our DNS: http://screencastmb.worldsecuresystems.com/img/2013-04-24_0949.png. However, this MX record is not pointing to any IP address which leads me to believe the MX record you added is incorrect.
I believe the MX record you need to add is mx.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com, with a priority of 10. Not 10mx.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com. But as always, contact your mail service provider for confirmation on the records they require you to add.

  • HT1386 Why do we have to use I Cloud to sync. calendars and contacts?

The new IPhones don't allow you to sync your calendars, contacts, and other information without going through a cloud service.  I don't want to use the cloud with this particular phone.  This is taking away customer choice.

Boo hoo.  Oh, by the way, it has absolutely nothing to do with the new iPhones.
It has to do with the fact that Sync services in OS X was depracated 2 1/2 years ago and has finally been removed from Mavericks.
USB contact and calendar sync still work just fine on Windoze.

  • Where is the Email, calendar and contacts?!

Just bought a Playbook 64GB... But i guess RIM made some strange decisions to skip some basic application?
    Where is the PIM apps?

RIM has not yet released the on-Playbook PIM applications. They are coming soon, we hope.

  • Microsoft 2010 exchange not updating my calendar and contacts

I use Microsoft Office 2010 (exchange server) for my email, calendar and contacts. My email on both my iPhone (4) and iPad (4) works fine. However after a software update a few months ago, my calendar no longer updated on either my iphone or ipad.
The calendar and contacts are set to the default exchange setting but neither is updating. I deleted the exchange account (on my ipad only) and then added it back...now ALL of my birthdays and reoccuring appointments that were in my calendar prior to the software update are gone. The birthdays and reoccuring stuff still shows on my iphone HOWEVER, any new appointment that I have added don't show up on either device. I was going to upgrade to the iphone 6 when it comes out but am having second thoughts since I can't get my calendar to sync with any new appointments. I never had issues prior to othe update. Any assistance would be MOST appreciated!

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like contacts and calendars on your iPad are not being synced to your iPhone 5, but the data syncs from iPhone to iPad.
