HT4597 Viewing photos in photo stream?

I've uploaded a large group of photos to Photo Stream in iCloud and I can see them in iPhoto, but how do I see them on the internet and how do my family and friends see them?

PhotoStream is purely a conduit for shunting photos taken on one device onto the others: the photos are not visible online to you or anyone else.
Photo Journal is a basic gallery on iCloud but is populated only from iPhoto for iOS:

Try these steps first if the Photo Stream on one of your PCs is not updating:
you can't connect to the Internet, iCloud Photos will not be able to send or receive updates to My Photo Stream. If necessary, troubleshoot your Internet connection on your PC, Mac, or iOS devices.
Open the iCloud Control Panel and make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, and click the iCloud tile.
In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Make sure that iCloud Photos or Photo Stream is turned on in the iCloud Control Panel. Click the Options button and make sure that My Photo Stream is turned on.
Close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

If older photos are missing it may be because photo stream photos are only held in iCloud for 30 days. After that they are removed from iCloud but will remain (up to 1000 photos) on your device until deleted. Also, only photos taken after enabling photo stream are added to your photo stream, and only when the camera is closed, your device is connected to wifi and you have at least 20% battery life remaining.
To transfer the missing photos you can either create a shared photo stream containing them and invite yourself to it (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99), import the photos to your computer and sync them to your iPad, or use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your iPad over wifi.

To view a single photo just tap the one you want to view from the thumbnail view in the Photos app. Then to send it to your Mac, tap the share (arrow) button on the bottom left, tap Mail, then send an email to yourself, open it on your Mac and save the photo attachment.

HT204022 i have several copies of my photos on my ipad under photos not photo stream There is no delete button when I tap the duplicate photos. How do I delete these pleas?

I have 4 and 5 copies of my photos under photos on my ipad. I do not have a delete button to delete them. Also, my icloud is upto date but my new photos are no longer streamimg to my photo stream.

Before deleting anything be sure they are actually duplicate photos. If you create an album on your phone, then add photos to it from your camera roll, the photos in the album are not duplicates; they only contain links to the actual photos in camera roll. (Albums are like music playlists; they don't contain the actual photo but just a link to it so that you can look at a subset of your photos.) Thus, if you delete the photo from the camera roll it will be deleted from all albums that may have contained it (just as a song would be deleted from any playlist that contained it if you deleted the song from your music library).
Similarly, photos synced to your iPad from your computer are all contained in the photo library. Just like albums created on your phone, any albums synced to your phone will only contain links to the actual photos in the photo library. If you delete the photo from the photo library, it will be deleted from any albums that may contain it as well. All that said, you can delete photos from the camera roll by either opening them individually and tapping the trash can icon, or by opening the camera roll in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, tapping all the photos you want to delete, then tapping the Delete button at the bottom. To delete photos synced to your iPad from your computer you have to delete them by connecting your iPad to your computer, going to the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings, unchecking the photos you no longer want on your iPad, then syncing. Photos in photo stream are deleted by opening the photo, then tapping the trash can icon.

Hello, I am out of internal storage on my Iphone 4 ALREADY (Just purchased 3 months ago!). I need to clear up some space so I can do updates and take new photos. I was thinking about backing up my Photo Stream to the icloud and then deleting my Camera Roll.
1.) Is this a terrible idea??? I do NOT want to lose those photos! But I NEED more space on my phone!
2.) Will deleting Camera Roll free up space (a sufficient amount? My Camera Roll is at 4.5 GB)?
3.) Will deleting Camera Roll delete my photos from Photo Stream also? It doesn't seem to.
4.) Does Photo Stream ever automatically delete photos???
5.) Is there anyway I can save the pictures from my phone to my computer??? I can see the photos on my computer when viewing them through Photo Stream, but those are not permanent, correct?
This is one of the most ridiculous, confusing and unnessacary things I've ever known! Why oh why can't we just have a good ol' SD Card??? (My Droid never ever ran out of storage and I had it for 2 years...)
I tried backing up my photos in Itunes, but I don't have a new enough version. I tried downloading a new itunes and it still tells me I don't have the new version.

However, you can do the tedious task of moving your camera roll pictures to photo stream by ensuring photo stream is turned on for your device and take a screen shot of each picture in your camera roll to move it over.
To take a screen shot, just press the "Home Button" and the "Sleep/Wake Button" at the same time while viewing the image.
1.) It's not a terrible idea, it can be tedious though.
2.) Deleting a bunch of photos/videos from a camera roll 4.5GB in size can definitely free up space
3.) Photo Stream photos, as you said, appear to stay upon deleting the photos. (Tested it personally)

Essentially, it won't erase your photos until you tell it to.

6.) To update iTunes, you must download and then "Run" the download you get off the website. Otherwise you will just have an installer program sitting there not updating iTunes.

8.) On iCloud, you can backup your text messages, but you cannot view them independently on www.icloud.com.

That's by design; photo stream only uploads photos taken after turning on photo stream, not earlier photos. Adding earlier photos to photo stream can be done in a couple of different ways:
Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot. This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll. This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once. Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll. These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream. (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)

Photostream is a temporary storage area for photos. There is a maximum number of photos that you can keep in your photo stream and there is a time limit as well. But on your Mac you can normally view your PhotoStream photos in iPhoto and copy them to albums on your Mac. Don't expect photos to remain in your PhotoStream permanently.

Photos in photo stream not uploading to PC

The photos in the photo stream on my phone are not uploading to my Windows 7 PC. I have checked the iCloud settings to make sure I am using the same account, which I am. I have checked the upload and download directories but can't find them there. I can see that the photos I take are being sent from the Camera Roll to the Photo Stream album on my phone, but they're not automatically uploading to my PC. I have PhotoStream turned on everywhere it should be turned on. I've even turned it off and reset it, only to have the same set of photos show up, but not the newest ones. Hmm... It looks like they are gone forever now then. I can't think of any other way of getting them back apart from restoring from an iTunes or iCloud backup. Somebody else might be able to help but I think they're gone forever. I don't know why they were wiped from your iPod but it could be something to do with security. In the future I would recommend syncing to iTunes or iCloud to prevent it from happening again. You can always make a reservation at the Genius Bar and see what those guys can do because it seems that they are still there, they are just 'hidden' from view. http://concierge.apple.com/reservation/gb/en/techsupport/
