What do I need to open pdf docs on Safari for SnowLeopard? Out of the blue and "capute" I'm not able to see pdf docs anymore.

Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Thanks for your response Cor el, I'll try that the next time it happens, it's completely random. One moment it functions normally then suddenly it changes its mind.
Restarting my pc usually brings it back to normal until next time.
One thing I've noticed, but not 100% sure there's a connection here.....I edit my websites online and log into cpanel which opens new pages in separate tabs, as it should do. It seems that this problem occurs when I'm logged into cpanel...if i'm logged in then open a new tab for regular browsing of other sites then all links on those sites also open in new tabs.
Ican't say for sure if it's always only happened when logged into cpanel, but certainly on the last 3 occasions.
At the moment it's behaving normally so much I can do to check your suggestions, but will try them the next time it occurs.
One other thing I forgot to mention too....since i've had the new firefox, I've noticed that when I log into yahoo and post comments, I often find myself having to log on for each new post. Everything was fine with old firefox and there have been no other changes to my pc .

Just bought Adobe Photoshop Ps , clicked on the icon in my Mac dock and am staring at a black page with a perimeter of symbols and a heading that reads "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014. I don't have a clue what I do next. I would like to transfer some photos from my iPhoto library. Where do I start?

Photoshop does not transfer files nor import files. It can open files from any place that finder can access for files.
This is the normal process:
You need to log into https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/catalog/desktop.html Download Center
Select the app you would like to start with
The Creative Cloud manager will install first.
When done installing, the Creative cloud (adobe manager) should open in the middle of your screen.
If no apps automatically start installing then click on Apps
Scroll down to the app you want to install and click the install button
Once the manager says it is done, you can start your app like you normally do with any other app.

After installing Yosemite my fax is sending black pages with white text

I used to send faxes with my Panasonic KX-MB2020 using Prewiew program. With Mavericks faxes were good. After installing Yosemite, my recepients started to tell that they get "negatives" - black pages with white text. Fax machine is ok - if I print a documet and then send it to the same recepient without my notebook, it goes well.
Please check this bug.

Furthermore, before now, my Panasonic easily scanned documents directly, with pressing "Scan" button on the machine. Now this operation is impossible - I have to launch Printer properties on my Mac, and from this window I have to start scanning.

Opening PDF from browser gets black page with white message box containing question mark in blue circle and an OK box that does nothing

Both reader XI and acrobat pro 9 installed on computer. Same error in both IE and Chrome. Using 'save as' the document can be saved to desk top and opened from there. There is a little flicker as if the document tried to open when black page first appears.

How can I prevent Firefox from opening the file I create when I print a page with PDF Create! 5

After I print a web page using PDF Create! 5, Firefox opens the file so i can view it. Before I print, I select print properties and disable "view resulting pdf". However, the file is always opened in Adobe Acrobat, although I believe I have Adobe Reader set as default. I do not want any file to open. This happens on my non-privileged accounts. On my privileged account, the file is not opened. I have removed Firefox profiles, re-installed Firefox, Reset Firefox in Help-Troubleshooting. PDF Create!5 print screen can only be viewed in a host program such as Firefox, Libre-office Writer, or any other program that prints. They do not open the file either.

Thanks for your help. This is the Scansoft (Nuance) program. What I do not understand is why when I tell the print driver not to open the file with a privileged account, it obeys me. I am not sure where in the registry I would look for the information. I do not want to, but perhaps I should remove the Adobe Acrobat program (temporarily?) - then what would it do? Again, when I print from other programs - browsers, wordprocessors, etc - the file is not opened after printing, just with FireFox. I guess I can live with it, I have spent too much time already.

BLOB Column with PDF docs

I already read a different ways to extract the PDF docs from oracle table and open it through forms. All of them with java classes, webutil integration and dbms_lob.
But, if I need an other way to show it (select the column and open it) through the forms module, I can do it. Like Developer 6i, we can defined a OLE container field in forms and query the table and show the BLOB data.
This are my scenerio:
Oracle DB: EE 9.2.0.6.0
Developer: 6i Rel 2 & 10g v. 10.1.2.0.2 (for test and eventually for migrate to production environment, with iAS R 9i)
I already read if I need to use java, dbms_lob or webutil, I need to use it through iAS and in some cases I need to create a DAD.
But, If have 10g in developer enviroment just for test and I don't want to use a iAS, do I have any other way to select a BLOB column (with a PDF files store in there) from a oracle table and be able to open it with acorbat reader.

Rechecked and was not logged on to user, checked the error view and got

searched some of the articles here on this error, checked that listener was running correctly for extproc, added to the listener the ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH line
added roles, resource, connect, ctxapp
added to PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATHs,
but still get the above error
does work though for simple text insert case, so seems to be related to documents in a blob field. Any other suggestions or queries that I can do to troubleshoot this? Could it be the way it is loaded?

Weird problem with PDF docs

So this doesn't have anything to do with Apple per se, everyone on this board has always been so helpful. For the past few weeks, I have been unable to view any PDF documents. (It was the same for anything flash on a website, but that mysteriously fixed itself.) I've downloaded Adobe about 5 times, no luck. I never had this problem before. It's so annoying because when I need to see a PDF doc I have to use my boyfriend's Dell (UHG!!!) Please help! Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I used your advise (sort of) to open PDF docs. I figured out that if I right-click on the link and "save link to desktop" I can then right-click on the file and choose "open with preview." It's kinda a pain in the butt, but at least it opens. Thanks!

HP printer is copying a black page with dark lines

If someone can help to determine why my HP is copying a black page. Recently the company upgraded to Windows 7, and I am not sure if that is what caused the problem with copying. Today I uninstalled and then reinstalled the printer using the CD. That did not fix the problem. I read through the suggested fixes, and that did not correct the problem. The toner cartridge is 50% full. The printer is pretty new ( 1 yr old ). I don't know what to do from here. Please send suggestions if you can help.

I would like to see if I can help figure out what is causing the printer to print black pages, I have a few question to ask that will better allow me to assist / see if I can assist.
What model of printer do you have?
Is the issue happening when copy from the printer or when printing from the computer?
Since you have a Windows computer, try running the Print and Scan Dr, this will test the hardware and possibly offer new troubleshooting steps.

Ebooks opened within IOS 8 frequently display a black page with white print

While reading books in IBook, if I stop reading and allow my IPad to shut down, it frequently restarts IBooks wit a black page and white print. So far, the only recovery is to power down the IPad and restart.
I don't recall this happening with IOS 7. Any suggestions to permanently stop the color swap between text and pages would be appreciated.

With a book open tap the AA icon top right and if 'auto-night theme' is 'on' then turn it 'off' and see if it that stops it changing to white on black.

When you convert from PowerPoint to PDF via Adobe PDF Pack, it will convert each slide in the deck to a page in the PDF file. Unfortunately, there is no way to change that.

Business Subscription Based Website with PDF/.doc downloads

I'm new to the Apple world and LOVE IT! I am beginning the design of a business website and trying to use iWeb. I'm not sure it will support two critical functions: 1) subscription based service - I saw the topics of using PayPal for retail but what if the readers are paid subscribers with automated monthly draft fee. individual login/passwords will be required. recommendations? 2) Subscribers will view pdf/.doc files and then download to their own computers. I saw two postings indicating concerns about document sizes. We are a research based company and our analysis what the members are buying, thus, they may be downloading several large documents weekly. We anticipate ultimately 2000-5000 subscribers. Yup, the range is pretty large because we need to prove ourself. We estimate starting with 100 but hitting 2000 within 6 months. If business takes off, we may need to go to a traditional website developer but proof-of-concept is needed for additional funding.
Do you recommend MobileME for this volume? We were planning on a traditional hosting company. Thanks!

MobileMe would be no use for this as it doesn't have the ability to run scripts.

I am helping a friend with his webpage. NOT A PROFESSIONAL
WEB DESIGNER, just know a little bit (smile)
he wanted me to set up his page so when visitors come to his
page they can click and PDF or Word document will bring up a box
for them to download the white paper.
How do I do this with dreamweaver mx? or can it be done? I
know I have visited sites and I can click on a hyperlink and the
pdf will display or I can download it.

Replacing a page in PDF doc

I have a 5 pg PDF open in Reader. I need to replace one of the pages. Can I / how do I do this? Do I need Acrobat? Thx!

You can't do it in Reader, but you can do it in Acrobat if the document doesn't have security restrictions.
