HT4619 What is the hole under the power cord for?

Wondering how to turn my iMac back on after a power surge.  Happened once before and was able to reset it by unplugging cord, holding down start button, then reattaching power cord and pressing the start button again.  This only worked when I took it to the Mac outlet store though.  When I try this, it doesn't work.  Outlets and power source (aps) have power.  Trying to avoid a trip with my 27" iMac to the store.
is the hole under the power cord a reset?
Thanks

Deborah,
Here are the specific steps for performing a SMC reset just so it's clear (note bolded bits):
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Dave
P.S. If this doesn't work, repeat the process again only bypassing your APS conditioner completely this time using a standard AC wall outlet for testing/powering your mac. The APS unit may have an internal fault of some sort.

  • What is the power cord for the airport extreme (A1354)?

What power cord and/or adapter is used for the 2nd and 3rd generation Airport Extremes?

My TC cable has 300v printed along it (just about read if the angle to the light is OK).
Also 120v @ 2.5 amps is roughly 240v @ 1.25 amps, so current draw is less on the higher voltage.
Should be fine, as long as the correct fuses are used in the plug. Which is there to protect the cable from wall socket to appliance and not the appliance itself.

What's the power Adapter for Macbook pro 13inch Mid 2012 with core i-7, 2.9ghz, 8Gb ram?
AFAIK it should be a 60wat Megasafe power adapter.
But mine shipped with a 45Watt Megasafe. I got it as a Gift from my friend.
    Thanks in Advance.

This should be my Adapter right?
    Yes.
There is a drawback in addition to taking a longer time to charge up your MBP.  In unusual instances when using your MBP with power adapter attached, and running a very heavy load on the CPU/GPU, the MBP will require additional electrical resources in addition to what the power adapter can provide.  It will then draw upon the battery.  What this means is that using a 45 watt adapter, these conditions are more likely to occur.
Using a 45 watt adapter should not harm your MBP as such.
    Ciao.

the other question please, whats ur opinions about this card? is it ok with powerfull games?
GTX 550 and GTX 650 are budget (mid-range) GPUs.
They are good for everything (including 3D games).
However, in complex 3D games don't expect high FPS values.
If you play games most of the time, you should go for GTX 560 / GTX 660.

  • Lost the power cord for time capsule!

So I've lost the power cord for my time capsule. I went to an Apple store and they don't sell them but the employee said that it is a standard cord and I should be able to pick one up at a Radio Shack or the like? Has anybody else had to do this? I can't find the specs on the time capsule either of exactly what type of cord is needed.

who ever told you that has Model: 61-2876 | Catalog #: 61-2876 cord in mind. I'm not sure if it will work...it looks close....are you saying you were told you can't order a replacement cord from Apple?

    Anyone having the same problem?

Makes no difference if anyone is having the same problem.  The important thing is that it's happening to YOU!
You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out.  Let Apple deal w/the problems.

  • What is the power voltage for appletv

What is the power voltage required for apple tv? This is not mentioned in the booklet.

It's described as a Universal power supply and as far as I know assuming you're not hooking it up to some non-standard home made power supply it should work worldwide on known mains systems (at the very least in those countries where it is sold ANY AppleTV should adapt to the local mains power).

  • When I connect my MacBook Air to iPads through a powered USB hub the power cord for the hub explodes and trips the fuse on the building. I've tried different iPads, cords, power points to no avail.

When I connect my mac air to some iPads through a powered USB hub for VPP/Configurator, the power point for the hub blows out (tripping the fuse in the building). I've tried different iPads, cords, power points and of course hubs. Also the computer has a habit of shutting down when any type of USB device is removed from it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've done some experimenting, and this is what I've found out:
    1) The problem persists when I reformatted the USB HDD devices to ExFAT, so the problem apparently wasn't due to NTFS for Mac OS X by Paragon.
    2) The problem persists even when BackBlaze is paused, so I don't think that it's due to BackBlaze.
    3) The internet cuts out as soon as data begins transferring either to or from a USB HDD device and won't reconnected until I eject and unplug the device.
    4) The problem affects data transfers through either USB port.

  • Where can you get the power cord for a 2012 airport express?

Where can you get a power cord for a 2012 airport express or the equivalent? I couldn't find one in the online store.

I'm sure the OP found his solution, but I wanted to share mine in case it helps some future seeker.
There are a lot of brand new cords on eBay for less than $10 including shipping, which is way cheaper than the $39 stereo connector kit or an AC adapter from a retailer.  I just bought a used-like-new one for $5.50.
The cord is made by Volex, part number APC7Q.  The Apple part number is M9573LL/A.  If the seller got it from the stereo adapter kit, they'll probably list it under MD836LL/A, which is the kit's part number.  I got the best search results on eBay using just the Volex part number.
    Best of luck!

  • Anyone know where I can buy the power cord for intel imac

i lost the power wire to my imac and i don't know  where to buy it
anyone know where can I get it  and how much it costs?

Newer iMacs use ordinary computer power cords commonly used on all sorts of electronic equipment.
The power cord used on G5 iMacs (I think) is different but is also readily available. Either one will cost you less than $10.

  • How do I connect the power cord for my 6800 Ultra card?

I am a little confused on how to connect the two Y cables that came with my ULTRA card can anyone help?

they are there if you dont have a lot of extra dongles for your vcard. You should ony use the splitters if you really need the extra connectors, otherwise go straight to the vcard from the PSU

  • Power Cord for Italy/Europe?

Hi folks. I have the 85w AC adapter with the power cord for the US.
I realize I can get an adapter for the plugs in Italy, but I was wondering if I could order the AC cord that goes from the wall to the adapter.
Basically I'm looking for the Euro version of 922-5463 AC Adapter Power Cord.
This isn't a huge priority, since I have the world travel kit and a set of adapters, but I figure since I'll be travelling alot (if I get the job) it might be a good idea to have the native cord rather than constantly use adapters.
I'd also like to keep the machine grounded as often as possible. The travel set doesn't appear to support grounding.

Nevermind, I found what I needed on eBay.
I went to eBay's Italian portal and searched for AC cord un the Apple section.

  • Can i use a power cord for a US purchased apple tv on a 220v power outlet

need to ascertain whether the power cord on apple tv purchased in the US will work on 220V power outlet

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV will work in any voltage in any location, so will the power cord if you replace the plug to one that fits the system used in your location.
Alternatively you can change the power cord for a new one, you need a C7 non polorised connector (more commonly known as a 'a figure of eight')

  • What's the power of spending more time every day in your IT career ?

What's the power of spending more time every day in your IT career ?
When you do the research to find the factors of the successful people, you'll find that they ALWAYS spent a lot of time every day in their businesses.
The IT technologies change so fast and explode. The performance of IT people with 20 years experiences can be EASILY catched up by a IT people, maybe you, who has only 6 or 7 years or even less if you spend over 80 hours or even more every week on your job and on the latest technologies.
    The reasons are listed below:
    1. The out-of-date IT technologies is no use anymore. It's like the out-of-date IT books. The people with 20 years experience can't rely on his last experience any more.
    2. If you spend 80 hours every week, you'll absorb doubled the knowledge and experience than the people who spends only 40 hours every week. You may catch up with him who has 20 years experiences with your 10 years experiences. Not only this, most of your knowledge and experiences are newer and useful than his.
    3. Because you spend 80 hours, you have plenty of time to focus on your tasks. When the task comes in, you may finish your tasks many times faster than him and you may be the only person who still has the time to do any extra or urgent tasks. Because you have more time, you may prepare your next task to be ready to finish your next task even faster and you may absorb the latest IT technologies from a learner level to an expert level while other people is still doing his tasks. And due to your more spare time to learn the technologies all the time needed to do your task, you have much more knowledge needed to do your task and can finish your task much faster than others.
According to my experience, if the comparison of the knowledge the worker has is 1 to 5, the real hours needed to finish a task may be 1 to 10. In IT field, if you know how to do it, you need minutes, but if you don't know how to do it, you need months to do the error-try or starting to learn it and do it. Please notice that the knowledge can be used for many times and the 1 to 5 and 1 to 10 comparisons will repeat again and again. Without spending more time on getting more knowledge, the comparison of 1 to 10 is still happening.
    4. Like trying to save the money, most of his 40 hours will be spent on his tasks. He may have only 5 hours left to learn new IT technologies. If you still need to spend the same time to finish your tasks like him, you still will have 45 hours to learn new technologies. You grow 9 times, 5 hours to 45 hours, faster than him. If you keep working and learning the new IT technologies 80 hours every week, you'll find that you'll need much less than 35 hours like him, you may have 60 or even more hours every week to do more tasks to get more experiences and to learn more latest technologies.

    1) LabVIEW is a graphical based programming environment and
LabWindows/CVI is a C based programming environment.  Both can be used
for similar tasks.  Users familiar with C may prefer CVI.  LabVIEW is
typically easier to learn if you are unfamiliar with both.
     2)
The Run-Time Engine is a separate component that can be installed to
execute LabWindows/CVI programs and LabVIEW programs.  It is free of
charge for both LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI.
    3)
LabWindows/CVI does not convert any LabVIEW programs into C code.
LabVIEW programs are already compiled as you write them, so you won't
need to convert them to C to use them.  You should see similar
performance in similar LabVIEW and CVI code.
