HT4622 How to import .band and .mid files into GarageBand for iOS

Using GarageBand for MacOS X, I have no difficulty importing and playing .mid (MIDI) files.  Indeed, I can even rename .kar (Karaoke) files to .mid, import them into GarageBand for MacOS X and see the lyrics along with the score.  Using File Sharing for iOS apps in iTunes.app, I have tried to import .mid and .band files (made from .mid files with GarageBand for MacOS X) using this mechanism.  I get no errors but it doesn't seem to work.  That is, neither the .band file nor the .mid file are accessible from within GarageBand for iOS as far as I can tell.  What should I be doing instead?

As I understand it GarageBand for iOS .band projects can be imported to GarageBand for OS X, but the reverse isn't true. GarageBand for iOS does not import midi files.
The File Sharing section of iTunes doesn't validate the files you put into it, but if the app doesn't like the structure of the file it will just ignore it.

  • How do I import Map Info Tab files into Spatial for a map of europe?

How do I import Map Info Tab files into Spatial for a map of europe via FME and have oracle spatial draw the map without problems?
So far I've got to the stage where I can import the data, spatially index it (in oracle 9i) and get my SVG (scaleable vector graphics) application to view the map.
The problem is that countries that have more than one polygon (more than one row in the database) do not draw properly.
When I view the Map Info tab file in the FME viewer I can see that the data is fine, but I can also see that some of the polygons used to draw a country are donugts and some aren't.
This seems to cause a problem when I import the data into oracle spatial as I don't know if a row in the table needs to be inserted as an independent SDO_GEOMETRY or if it should form part of a larger SDO_GEOMETRY (as in 2 or more rows make up the polygon shape for a country).
I have a feeling that I'm not using FME correctly, because at the moment I have to import the tab file into Oracle then re-insert the data into a spatially formatted table (one with a spatial index) - I get the impression that FME should do that for me but as I'm new to this I don't really know.
    Any Help welcome :|
    Tim

    Tim,
MapInfo has a free utility called EasyLoader that allows you to upload a table directly to Oracle. EasyLoader creates the geometries and spatial index. You can download it free from http://www.mapinfo.com/products/download.cfm?ProductID=1044

  • Concerning midi data in GarageBand for iOS: can we copy midi data from one virtual instrument to another?

Concerning midi data in GarageBand for iOS: can we copy midi data from one virtual instrument to another?
For instance: I play my "lucky take" on the virtual piano, and now I am curious how it would sound on let's say a organ. Normally I would select the midi content out of the piano track and copy it into the organ track. I cannot figure out how to do this in GarageBand for iOS. Is there anyone out there with a solution?
    Thanks!

It is limited, how you can move regions between tracks. Basically, you can move between tracks with the same touch instrument.  See the help: http://help.apple.com/garageband/ipad/2.0/index.html#chsec12c15d
    Move a region
Drag the region left or right to move it forward or back in time. Align the left edge of the region with the bar or beat on the ruler where you want it to start playing.
Drag the region up or down to move it to another track with the same Touch Instrument. You can also drag regions between Keyboard and Sampler tracks, and between Audio Recorder and Guitar Amp tracks. Smart Drums regions cannot be dragged to another Smart Drums track.
If you move a region so that it overlaps another region, the overlapped part of the “covered” region is deleted.
    Paste a region
You can paste a region you have copied, or paste an audio file from an app that supports copying audio to the clipboard. GarageBand supports 44.1 kHz sample rate, 16-bit depth uncompressed audio files.
You can paste copied regions to another track with the same Touch Instrument. You can also paste regions between Keyboard and Sampler tracks, and between Audio Recorder and Guitar Amp tracks. Smart Drums regions cannot be pasted to another Smart Drums track. Audio files copied from another app can be pasted to Audio Recorder or Guitar Amp tracks.
Move the playhead to the point where you want the region to start.
Tap the header of the track where you want to paste the region to select the track.
Tap the track where you want to paste the region, then tap Paste. You can also tap an empty area of Tracks view, then tap Paste. In this case the region is pasted into the currently selected track.

  • How to Import AVCHD 1080/60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7?

How do I import AVCHD 1080 / 60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7? And if there is no direct way [I certainly haven't found one, but I'm no expert], what additional software would be used? I want to import the files from a Panasonic HDC-HS700 onto an Intel Mac laptop [Mac OSX 10.5.8]? Obviously I don't want to compress & compromise my footage.
I’m sure a simple, straightforward series of steps would help many people with this issue.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response!
I'm guessing you've found ClipWrap2 to be better than competing products [such as AVCHD Converter for Mac, Toast Titanium, or Voltaic].
On to the next steps. Using Clipwrap2, would I leave the checkbox "Convert Audio to LPCM" selected or deselected [and what the heck is LPCM?]. In the pulldown menu would I choose "Rewrap (Don't alter video samples)" or do I save a step by choosing "Apple ProRes 422"?
And finally, am I gaining anything by shooting 1080/60p on this Panasonic HD Camera other than a headache? [Some have suggested this is not a True 60p.]

  • Open or import a real MIDI-file in Garageband on ipad2?

how do I open or import a real MIDI-file ( xxx.mid ) in Garageband on ipad2? Neither as Mail attachement, nor via iTunes an import will work.

    @squidbabyink
    hello,
it seems so, that you just can move a GB-session from the ipad to the mac; the way from mac to ipad doesn't work. So here is an alternative I found in the AppStore, it's called Music Studio.
You can find infos, tutorials here:
    http://www.xewton.com/musicstudio/overview/
GB may be nice for some folks; in my opinion it's a toy, but no editor.

  • How to Import xsd and use it in transformation for mapping

I have constructed an xsd and want to use it in BPEL Process.I imported the xsd into development. But I am unable to understand how to further proceed. Can anybody suggest me how to import xsd and use it as it has to be defined in wsdl before using right. Is there any way we can use xsd?

    Hi',
See in a BPEL (web service) we use XSD to define its input and output, inside this BPEL process you have input and output variable.
Now inside the transform you can use this variables to transform data, there can be many other variables too, when you try to invoke
some other BPEL process you again create new input and output variable.
Inside a transform activity you have a source and a target there you can decide where all the input is coming from you could have
one or many variables in source and only 1 in target, this is how your variables (or XSD) can go inside the transform, inside the transform.xsl
view you can right click on the source side(left) and include any new variable there.

  • How do I find and older version of instagram for iOS 6.1.6

How do I find and older version of instagram for 4th generation touch iOS 6.1.6?

In iTunes on your computer, download the App you want a compatible version for using the same Apple Id that the iPod has for the App Store. For Paid Apps its best to consult with the App maker to make sure there is a compatible App. With the App Downloaded to iTunes on a computer you can go into The App Store App on your iPod, Tap on Purchased, and Look for the App there. Tap on it to begin the download. It will likely say its not compatible, but if there is a compatible version it will offer to download it.
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support

  • How to Import Catalogue and Referenced Files?

I have a new Mac Pro and would like to Import large, 1500 and 8000 images respectively, Catalogues from my MacBook Pro and my G5.
The Raw images are on the desktops, a second internal hard drive and external hard drives. They are all referenced files. They are not in Pictures.
I've have instruction in Martin Evening's book on how to Export a Catalogue to an External drive, and from there Import to another computer, but its not for Referenced Files.
How do I move both the Raw files and the catalogues with the metadata and Develop instructions?
On my new MacPro I was thinking I would copy Raw Images into Lightroom, not Reference them, and keep them in Pictures, on a internal hard drive separate from my Applications/System Hard Drive.
I apologise for being so long winded.
How do I end up with all raw images and metadata/develop settings in one Catalogue on my new machine?
Thanks so much for any help.
    Best,
    Mitchell

One important point: when you export as catalog be sure that the Export negative files option is checked. That will move the source files to your external drive along with the catalog.

  • Need advice on how to import / store existing image files into LR etc.

    Hi,
I am just beginning to use LR 2.3 and I want to start correctly....
I have been pondering how to begin and I was hoping some of you might point me in the right direction.
    1. I have all of my RAW files on my Mac's desktop and they are organized at the top level by each of the 2 cameras they were taken with and then the sub folders of each organized chronologically with each subfolder titled by the location or subject of the images matter within each folder.
I want to import these into LightRoom 2.3 in a manner which will preserve this taxonomy. I also want to convert these RAW images into DNG files on import. How do I set up LR2 to do this?
    2. I want the Lightroom files and the image files to live on my external Caldigit eSATA VR drive. This drive is actually 2 disks set to mirror as hardware RAID 1 so it is essence its own backup if one disk dies. How do I point LR to create and store the DNG files on this external drive and then set LR2 to back up so that the LR datafiles also live there? Would you say this is a good way to set this up or should the LR datafiles ( previews etc. live with LR on the OS drive??
Is RAID 1 as safe as backing up to 2 different HD's?
Is it best to convert to DNG ( I like the fact that any LR image data is stored with the DNG and is not a sidecar file which could get seperated) or convert to DNG with orginal RAW file incorporated? How massive do these get?
Is it best to use LR2's backup utility and exclude the LR data from the Time Machine backup?
    Sory for the long question...

On the Import Photos Screen, pick "Copy photos as Digital Negative(DNG) and add to catalog" from File Handling drop-down at top of screen.
If your photos are organised as:
    Photos - Camera 1 ...
    - Camera 2 ...
then Lightroom will reflect that folder view in its Folders panel. Also, when converting to DNG you get to choose destination folder (answers part of your question 2) and multiple organisation choices including "Organize by Original Folder"
(Take a look at Chapter 4 of the help file for more information: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/2.0/lightroom_2_help.pdf)
    2. I want the Lightoom files and the image files....
Create your catalog on that drive. Move your images to that drive before importing them, and when converting to DNG on import, choose a folder on that drive as destination on import screen.
    >Is RAID 1 as safe as backing up to 2 different HD's?
No. RAID 1 is a simple mirror of 1 drive on another; so if you delete a file on drive, it is also deleted from both drives. Likewise, if a file is corrupted on one drive it will also be corrupted on the mirror. RAID 1 is good as a safeguard against single-drive failure; your data will be available from the remaining drive, but it is not a safeguard against user error or file corruption.

  • How do I collect and organize files into a new folder without breaking the links to my media?

I'm new to premiere pro, and learned that I probably should have figured out where to organize all of my files from the beginning, but in the post production phase, I have a bunch of audio and image files sitting all over my desktop, and I'm afraid that if I move them, I'll break the links to all of my media. Files I edited in CS6 Photoshop and Audition are of special concern (considering they get automatically routed to my desktop).
Does anyone know how I can collect all of the files and media that were imported into my project, and and archive them into a folder without breaking the project's links to the original media? Perhaps there's a way to copy all of the files and move them into that folder, so that when I move the originals, I'll still maintain all of the links in the copied version?
I tried using the project manager tool, but received an "unknown error message" each time I ran it.
Any organizational insight would be much appreciated!

  • Importing .cpi and .mts files into iMovie

A friend provided me hundreds of .cpi and .mts files of footage he shot on a Canon Vixia camcorder. The files are on a DVD disc. How do I import them into iMovie 09?

You may have already resolved this issue, but I found out some great information today from Sony directly.  I was having the same problem, and I was convinced iMovie (i'm using iMovie 09) couldn't import MTS files.  I was wrong iMovie does it very easily.  The problem iMovie has is when you connect your camera, most people click the "video camera" icon so they can see the videos on their camera they wish to import.  What I found is that if you haven't cleared off your video camera in some time, and have over 10 gigs of video on the camera, iMovie has a real hard time, because it has to search the camera and bring up the clips in that lower window pane and often times it will basically time-out, and if you click that camera again the iSight camera launches.
What I did was go thru the clips on my video camera that I could delete (actually watched them on the camera itself), this can be time consuming.  But, once I cleared down the content on my camera under 10 gigs, iMovie saw the information quickly.  Here's another thing I did, that also may help...instead of clicking on that little camcorder icon, use FILE, Import from Camera at the top menu bar instead.  When I did this, it started looking for my attached video camera.  From now on I will clear off my video camera more frequently so that iMovie doesn't bog down looking for possible imporatable videos on the camera.  Recommendation from Sony was keep it under 10 gigs.
    Hope this helps.
    Tim
P.S.  There is no truth to the idea that iMovie does not import MTS files.  My Sony HD Handycam takes all MTS files and iMovie has no problem with them at all.

  • How to import an Quarkxpress 5 file into Indesign CS3

    Hello,
I am in trouble when  trying to open with Indesign CS3 for windows a file created with Quarkxpress 5 for Mac. Do you have any hint? (file attached)
    thanks for support

The Q2ID plugin is really nice as Bob suggested. If you go through there website they will convert your one document and post it for you to download, email you with the results and a discount code. Well worth the money and a very nice company to work with. I can't say enough nice things about their products.
If you have a newer version of Quark licensed I prefer use their Markztools plugin for Quark to backsave to 4. Seems to be a better conversion with InDesign's Quark import, though that could just be my impression.

  • Importing avi and mp4 files into iPhoto

I just finished importing my PC photo library into iPhoto and I ran into a snag.
iPhoto does not import video files in *.avi or *mp4 format.
On my old PC photo library, I have video clips taken into mostly avi format with older digital cameras, and which are stored in the same photo directories by date. When I realized that I could not sync avi files to my iOS devices, I used a conversion program to convert the the avi files to mp4 format, and was able to sync these to my iOS devices.
Now apparently iPhoto does not recognize these mp4 files. I would like to have my video clips in iPhoto so that I can sync them as needed to my iOS devices through iTunes and also sometimes use them for video editing in iMovie. Within iMovie, I see where there is a link to the iPhoto video library... so somehow I have to get these into a format recognized by iPhoto.
Can anyone recommend a method that will accomplish this? I assume I will have to convert the avi/mp4 files to some other format. Is there a utility that will extract out the video files from my hundreds of photo directories and let me convert them to the accepted format by iPhoto, preferably keeping the time/date stamp intact?

Check over on MacUpdate for file converters.
