Just these entries are necessary to which system (better: instances) you want to connect. For example:
You need to connect (via SAPGUI, RFC, etc.) to systems (better: instances) with number 01, 16 and 20 you just need the entries:
sapdp01
sapdp16
sapdp20
sapgw01
sapgw16
sapgw20
If you need load balancing, etc. it's also necessary to have the entries for the related message servers sapms<SID>, e.g.
sapmsT11

Just these entries are necessary to which system (better: instances) you want to connect. For example:
You need to connect (via SAPGUI, RFC, etc.) to systems (better: instances) with number 01, 16 and 20 you just need the entries:
    sapdp01
    sapdp16
    sapdp20
    sapgw01
    sapgw16
    sapgw20
If you need load balancing, etc. it's also necessary to have the entries for the related message servers sapms<SID>, e.g.
    sapmsT11

  • Is there a similar file to windows\ssytem32\drivers\etc\hosts in OS X

    Hi,
I am running a Windows 2003 Server with several websites. I would like to view my websites from my new Imac, however I keep getting prompted for the user name and password for the router.
In windows on my old computer I could edit the file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts with the IP address and URL of the site and it would open. Is there a similar file in the Mac OS X 10.5.7 software.
    Many Thanks in anticipation

    {quote:title=Herr Lazaro wrote: > So if /etc/hosts works reliably I'll probably switch to it}{quote}
Adding host records by editing the /etc/hosts file is not entirely reliably. Since Leopard, some people have reported issues of the added host records "mysteriously" disappearing, or Apache not being able to properly resolve the added hosts. The bigger issue is that the modifications in the /etc/hosts file can create unwanted side effects in the normal functioning of services like the mail server and others.
Since Leopard, there has been an alternate way to add host records using the dscl utility. In fact, by many, it is considered the better, more reliable, and safer method.
You can read this recent article to see how its done:
    http://tomafro.net/2009/07/dscl-the-easy-way-to-add-hosts-on-osx
There are a number of additional articles on the web about using dscl for adding host records to OS X.
The choice, of course, is yours. If you are using the /etc/hosts file without issue, then it might be safe to continue doing so. But, if your system starts experiencing domain name resolution issues or problems with services such as the mail server, you should consider switching to and using the dslocal database to manage your host records.

I do not have any windows 8 install disc since it was preset on my computer and i don't know what to do if anyone can help me please reply to this and thank you for your time

This is clearly an issue with the drivers in your boot image. Yes, for boot image driver issues you must update the boot image and ensure it's been updated on the DPs for it to be effective.
It happens before you get a change to select a TS because its an issue with the boot image itself which must fully load for anything task sequence wise to actually happen.
When testing boot image image issues, always make sure that you know which boot image you are updating and which one was downloaded to the system as its possible they are two different things.
Also, for SP1 CU3, the boot images are based on Win 8 so make sure that you are using Win 8 compatible drivers in the boot image itself.

"You have to change your router's IP address to be able to access it. It will not give you the internet."
I'm not sure what that means Richard, but I did change the router's IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.5.1- isn't that what you meant in your first post. I know that isn't reflected in my screen capture that I took last night, but I did do that this morning after I read your post.
"Log on to your router and change two settings.
Change the setting in Setup from PPPoE to Automatic Configuration-DHCP and click on save.
Click on Advance Routing and change the setting from Gateway to Router then click on save."
I did this and still same results as far as I can tell. Can't get online through the router.
"Click on MAC address clone under setup tab ... click enable & click clone ...click save settings ... Check the IPaddress under WAN page ....
If getting IP in public range .... try going online ...."
I tried this- at least to the part about checking the IP address under WAN. I assume you mean the WAN page in the modem setup- nothing looked any different after trying what you suggested, and I'm not really sure where I would be "getting IP in public range" or what that means.
I'm about to give up and just buy a new router to see if I can get the same lack of results with a different one. My ISP maintains that everything is set up correctly on their end and really can't do anything more for me. The Modem works and is set up correctly and they can give tech support for a router.
Here's what my basic setup looks like now:

This topic has been moved to Windows 7.

    Hey Guys,
I actually have a dv9000 laptop myself so I was floored when I found out that HP would only support a few of the top laptop models for Windows 7 drivers. After doing alot of research and countless tinkering, I found the way to counteract at least one of the many woes many of you are feeling, updating NVIDIA GPU Drivers.
What I did was I went to HP's support site and downloaded their softpaq solution including the NVIDIA drivers for Vista (in my case, the 64-bit version). When it tries to install, it will fail saying that the version of Windows you're using is not Vista. By all means let it fail but don't exit unless you do so by the installer. This is where the next part comes in.
Go to the Screen Resolution Settings under Display and click on Advanced Settings. At this point, it should show you the properties of your card starting on the Adapter tab. Click on Properties and then the Driver tab. At this point, click on the Update Driver button and then click on the "Browse my computer for driver software." For my software, I found it under "C:/swsetup/sp42365/WinVista64." If you remember which softpaq file you downloaded, finding your path should be a piece of cake. After all of that, it should finally recognize your video card and ask you to reboot. If you're successful, you should be back at that 1400x900 resolution we all love.
I'll keep researching to see if the other softpad drivers react the same. I wish that HP at least tells people about this option since it's fairly easy to follow.

  • Notebook G60-213EM.....Won't start up. \Windows\system32\drivers\mpfilter.sys

I can't get past the opening page. If i F8 and select any of the safe mode options, it gives a status of 0xc0000221 and asks for installation discs. I haven't got any.  Where can I download to a disc then transfer it to the notebook? Can't remember what windows is loaded (either vista or windows 7) but even XP would be an improvement.

    Hi:
Accroding to the product specs for your notebook, it came with Vista Home Basic.
If you can read all 25 characters of the Vista product key on the bottom of your notebook, you can make your own Vista installation disk.
    Here's how:
If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-microsoft-windows-v....
After you successfully install Vista, you can then install the drivers from your PC's support and driver page.

  • My Desktop went blank and an error message appeared saying C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location...

This the whole error message: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that
is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information
might h ave been moved to a different location
I restarted the pc and  through the safe mode i copied the Desktop file that was missing at C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\
from C:\Users\User. I restarted but i still get the blank desktop.
Can you guys help me out?

Thnx a lot LomM! My younger brother run the check disk and now it's working. But now im facing a different problem. With the sound drivers. I have not sound at all. And at Device manager I see  yellow marked devices, giving me the code error 52 ("Windows
cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)").
So, I unistalled and re-installed but nothing. Still yellow marked. I did the Recovery thing (a couple of times using different dates ) but it did not complete successfully.
So I disable driver verification, while i was restarting my computer and now im getting the code 39("Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.
The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)").
it's that C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ktshunk.sys which is not getting verified. Any ideas?

If you want the shuffle to be always visible in Windows (outside of iTunes), you need to Enable disk use.
Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, select the Summary tab.  You should see a checkbox that says Enable disk use.  Check it and click Apply.
NOTE:  If disk use is enabled, you have to Eject the shuffle in iTunes, BEFORE you physically disconnect it.  If disk use is NOT enabled, you can disconnect the shuffle at any time, as long as iTunes is not doing something with it at that moment (such as syncing); the shuffle's light will then be blinking (to indicate DO NOT DISCONNECT).
So, unless you want to use the shuffle like a USB flash drive (carry random files on it), you may want to NOT Enable disk use.

  • W2K8 Server Shared Printers won't install if drivers not in Win7 C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository?

We have Windows 7 64 bit computers in two domains that just recently will not install printers (Windows 2008 R2 print servers) if the driver folder for the printer does not already exist in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository. This
is under a domain administrator account logged onto the workstation.
If the driver folder exists then it will install but if the printer is brand new and doesn't use an existing driver or uses a new driver, the folder will not be populated in the FileRepository. For example if you rename the Lexmark Universal Printer Driver
folder lmud0c40.inf_amd64..... to another name and delete try to reinstall the same printer you had working 5 minutes earlier, it will not install.  The C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\x64\3 folder STILL contains all the drivers for the printer
but for some reason it won't
The error is: Connect to Printer: Windows cannot connect to printer: Operation Failed with Error 0x00000057
All the "googled" solutions say to add the folder to the FileRepository manually but that is unrealistic with 19,000+ computers.
This exists across multiple domains, with multiple printer types and is not related to Group Policy as the issue still exists in a computer no policies applied except that had point and print=disabled. It also doesn't appear to be permissions based
as I granted the user "full control" of the FileDepository folder and it didn't make a difference.
They are signed drivers. The Print$ is shared on the server.
The odd thing is that in another domain we have, it works just fine even with regular user accounts (with point and print disabled). The server serves up the printer driver to the spool folder and it is copied to the FileRepository
    lforbes

I was suggesting pkgmngr just to confirm on one machine that it could stage the package.
The package drivers are copied to the client from the PCC share on the print server
    \\Server\print$\x64\pcc
The cab file is copied to client , extracted , then staged to the filerepository.  At this point the spooler will install the print driver from the package and copy the file to the \system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 directory and loaded into the spooler
    process from there.
For drivers that are not package aware, there is not a digital signature copied with the file set.
Package aware print drivers contain this data in the printer inf file
    [PrinterPackageInstallation.amd64]
    PackageAware=TRUE
The spooler does some secure validation using the asyncRPC protocols with package aware drivers and I've hit odd issues when stale machine accounts exist cross domain.  I know you are not hitting this exact issue but verifing someone did not disable
the protocol in some domain policy (through reg entry) was the request.
Regarding the Point and Printer Restrictions policy.  Disabling (or configuring) the policy disables the Restrictions around point and print.  There is also server information that can be included in the policy.  There are also another
    policies to verify
Computer\Admin Templates\Printers\Only use Package Point and print
Computer\Admin Templates\Printers\Package Point and Print - approved servers
With Windows8 and Server 2012, the Version 4 drivers are loaded directly from the driverstore.  Version 3 drivers still use the same path.
Hope that's not too much info.
    Alan Morris Windows Printing Team
    Thanks for the info:
So an update on this on the "fix" which really isn't a fix at all.
If you take Admin ownership of the C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore folder, set Admins=Full Control and delete the 4 added .dat files in there and then restart the print spooler service, you can add printers as an administrator.
Basically this defeats the entire purpose of adding printers to the FileRepository under the SYSTEM account.
It is at this point that it fails "The cab file is copied to client , extracted , then staged to the filerepository."
The drivers are digitally signed, in fact they are the "default" windows drivers from the default store.
I verified the driver cab files are in the
    \\printserver\print$\x64\PCC folder
I did a test and this "fixed" it although it is not something we can implement.
If gave Administrators ownership of the C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore folder, set Admins=Full Control and deleted the 4 or 5 added .dat files in there I renamed the existing FileDespository to "old" and created a new one and then restarted
    the print spooler service.
The printer had never been added before so it didn't exist in the registry.
On the restart of the spool service the folder a folder was created in the File Repository called
    ntprint.inf_amd64_neutral_4616c3de1949be6d
Then on the install of the driver, by an administrator account, two more were created downloaded from the  \\printserver\print$\x64\PCC
    prnms001.inf_amd64_neutral_9fe8503f82cd60fa
    prhp002.inf_amd64_neutral_04d05d1f6a90ea24 (printer driver)
So basically whatever gives SYSTEM access to "add" drivers to the DriverStore seems to be broken. It works OK if the Administrators have full control of all the files but not if it is running under SYSTEM.
I tried to disable the AsyncRPC protocol and then undid the disable. It didn't make a difference.
I have found hotfixes for Windows 7 Printer issues and have applied them all and the rollup and they didn't make a difference.

  • User profile in WINDOWS 8.1, 8, 7 redirected to C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile

    Hi all,
When you are logging into Windows 8.1,8 or 7 using your user credential you will finaly end up as system service account or at least your profile will be recognized this way. This mean that system is now looking in C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile
    for DESKTOP, DOCUMENTS etc.
I faced this probem few times on diffrent PCs. This problem has been out there for some time and peapole are tring to copy their profile to C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile. Sound no good for me.
Another way is to create new profile but it takes a lot of time and the problem sometimes comes back
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=windows-7
I manage to find out that the issue has something to do with the change of the registry at
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-X-X-XX-XXXXXXXXXXXX
S-X-X-XX-XXXXXXXXX is your user SID. The to REG_DWORD that are changed
    FLAGS
    REFCOUNT
After you change values to FLAGS 1 and REFCOUNT 0 you have to log out. Now log in and you profile should be back again.
I hope that this will save you some time and that microsoft will finaly fix whatever cause this issue.

    Hi Grzegorz,

  • How to repair corrupt \windows\system32\config\system files?

T61 will not boot to Win XP - says the \windows\system32\config\system file is missing or corrupt.
BIOS hardware test of disk drive passes.  When I place a Microsoft Win XP disk  to attempt a repair, the message says there is no disk drive detected. I assume this is due to unique Lenovo HDD drivers that are not on the Microsoft disk.
Is there a way to repair this file(s) without doing a full HDD reformat?
    THank you.

You need to include the Intel Matrix Storage manager via Floppy disk while running setup-CD or change in BIOS "Config"-SATA" to compatibility.
Then you can repair windows but first backup the hard drive onto annother disk f.ex with Acronis True Image Home (Emergency CD).
    Boot from XP Retail-CD
    `select "Install"
select the drive with the found windows installation and  "Repir"
Windows Setup removes the system files and replaces them from CD
after systemreboot you willneed to re-install all patches and updates
