I recently upgrade my phone to IOS6, but I don't like it.
So, can i downgrade again to previous version (ie.IOS5).

i just updated to iOS6 on my gilfriend's iPad 2.
then i looked at my iTunes to see it says "full restore needed".
so now i have lost ALL the photos of her 6 month old niece (not to mention all the other photos she had on there).
i have not clicked the full restore yet.
is there ANY WAY POSSIBLE TO REVERT TO iOS5 AND NOT LOSE ALL HER PICTURES?

My son has severe autism and loves the youtube app from 5.1.1 now that my wife upgraded to 6.0 there is no favorite tab and he doesn't have any of his shows available, plus seaching is a nightmare for him. My boy is 4 years old and doesn't ask for much, he is a mess without his youtube app and I'm really struggling to keep him calm, I need help with getting the old version back. If anyone out there knows how I can possibly go back please let me know, I'm drowning here and can't handle this any longer. The iPhone 4 is very old. The reason IOS 7 isn't that great for you is because its running old hardware. Yes Apple were very kind to let you guys have IOS 7 but at the end of the day iPhone 4 really wasn't made for it. That's why iPhone 4 cannot have IOS 8

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

There is a short period (about 5 days usually) where Apple keeps a signed version of the previous OS available (primarily for developers). During that period IF you have a valid .ipsw file on your computer (if you updated over-the-air this wouldn't work) then you could wipe your iPhone by putting it in DFU mode and update from the .ipsw file on your computer.
This won't work now. There is no approved means to roll back. You can use Google to find other means if you want to assume that risk.

I updated the system from ios5.1 to ios6 yesterday night. It is totally messed up. The phone became slow and useless. especially the map application. When I used ios 5.1, I can point the address in the email then show me in the google map, then tell me how to get there. Now, they only linked to part address, either the city's name and post code or the street name and number, very slow. When I wondering how to get to there, it just transfer to the application store, ask me install different application for different area transportation. Even I installed that application, it is not quick, clear as the old googlemap. IOS 6 is just a JUNK SYSTEM. Does anybody knows how to revers the system to the original IOS 5.1 ?

It sounds like we are screwed. I think I'm done with iPhones.....

Hi everybody, yesterday I upgraded my iPad 2 (wi-fi + 3G, 16 Gb) to iOS6, then I found out that Siri is not working on it (I should have know, but I trusted a friend who told me it was), more the YouTube app was delivered only for iPhone.
So I decided do downgrade back to iOS 5.1.
First I tried with the "restore from backup" function in iTunes, but it only works for apps and data.
Then I searched some hinst on the Internet, and found some instructions about restoring the iPad by pressing home and power buttons at once for 10 seconds (til I get a black screen), then restore using a certain ipsw file through iTunes.
I tried with several ipsw files, but I always get the same error message "The device isn't eligible for the requested build".
Any hints? Or am I supposed to keep the iOS6 on the device?

Downgrading iOS is not supported. For YouTube you coul try one of the YouTube apps from the store (and other people have said that google are working on an iPad version of their iPhone-optimised app and there is Jasmine), or try accessing the mobile version via Safari : http://m.youtube.com (you can create a home screen shortcut for the site)

Downgrading of any version of iOS is not and never has been supported by Apple. If you search the web, you may find instructions that may work, but you're on your own should any problems arise. For many people it goes without problems, but for some it's reportedly disabled their devices.

I've seen many posts from people wanting to go back to iOS5 and read where a few claim to have done this but even those who claim to have done it won,t provide the method they used to those wishing to do so, They instead launch into a diatribe about how great it is and proceed to try and talk the individual out of proceeding. Some people just want to go back and dont want to be talked out if it, So why not let them play and decide for themselves? Instead of trying to convince them why they should change thier minds all the while ignoring the question, why not read the question for what it is and provide an answer?
To those people i offer one possible solution... note that I've yet to "upgrade" but it did do a full restore of the iPad day before yesterday to try and remove the bloated OTHER files and it made me wonder if the same method might work to return to the previous version? Might it be possible to use time machine to regress your computer back to before the first backup following the upgrade and then do a complete restore? So long as you blow off everything from the iPad And not from within iTunes in the computer the process should work, shouldn't it? If you start the process from within iTunes it will ask you if you're sure you want to reload and update but if you blow everything off from the iPad itself all you get is a reload from a restore. Might it just be that simple? If so let me know, if not then how about someone chiming in and enlightening everyone instead of trying to convince everyone how wrong they are. Thanks everyone.

I'd say the increased risk of bricking your device is reason enough for them to change their minds.
