I have purchased a Epson Workforce 435, can't AirPrint, will this work with the first gen iPad?

Also i forgot to add after a night of searching how to turn the Epson Workforce 435 printer into Airprint friendly and not iPrint (which are 2 completely different things) i donwloaded a program called (AirPrint Activator) from HandyPrint. The link is below to download the software. Once i installed the application i set my printer to be shared over my Home Network (Wi-Fi Network). Once you have done that, open the AirPrint Activator application you have just downloaded, swtich it ON from OFF mode, and then you should easily see your printer name in my case EPSON Workforce 435 and then just close the application. Then go to your IOS Device like your iphone/ipad/ipod touch select a picture that you want to test print or even an attached PDF from your email, and select Print in the share button. You will then be prompted to select your printer. Your printer you automatically be recongised then just select print. And now you have a complete AirPrint ready printer with a Printer that doesnt even support the function. Im sure you can do this to all Wireless Printers, even if they came out before Apple AirPrint service launch.
And also if you still need guidance and a video to follow from just click the Youtube link below

Is that what you really believe?
I don't know cause Apple decided for me.
As does Microsoft anytime that they release a new update that is no longer compatible with the old PC hardware.
I would hope that Microsoft and Apple would both know what operating systems will run on the hardware that is produced for them.
I would also hope that Microsoft and Apple know better than you do as to what would work on their devices, tablets, computers, phones .... How much time and money have you put into research and development on the iPad?

  • Will the first gen ipad support display mirroring via airplay when IOS5 is released?

From what I have read, IOS5 will support display mirroring on the ipad 2.. Is this likely to be added to the first gen ipad ? If so then great, but if not, why not? Im sure if you can wirelessly stream music and movies to an Apple TV device (connected via wifi) from the ipad one, then surely you must be able to use display mirroring ?

In case you didn't click on the link above that is on the Apple site:
    AirPlay Mirroring for iPad 2
Wow your audience in the board room, classroom, or living room. AirPlay now supports video mirroring. Which means you can wirelessly — and securely — stream whatever’s on your iPad 2 to your HDTV via Apple TV. Everyone in the room sees exactly what’s on your iPad display up there on the big screen — even when you rotate iPad from portrait to landscape or zoom in and out on photos.2
So unless you were told be Steve Jobs that the iPad 1 will also do AirPlay Mirroring it really doesn't matter what you have been told, you are posting at best speculation but more likely misinformation.
And no, don't have anything better to do.

  • Can the first generation iPad handle iOS 5

I know with Mac computers after awhile the models cannot support the newest OS. Is this the same with iPads yet and if so can the first generation iPad handle iOS 5?

as an owner of a first gen iPad running iOS 5.1, I can tell you with absolute certainty, that the first gen iPad is completely capable of running iOS 5. I have been running iOS 5 since the day it was released with no problems.

My ipad mini just updated to IOS 7 and the scales of my wall paper changed.  How do I correct them?

I am having the same issue with the sound echo on my iPhone 4S. It seems OK when I talk on the phone, but all the alert sounds do it. It did not happen with the first update to ios 7, just after I updated last night to ios 7.0.2. If anyone figures out a solution, I would love to know. The echo is irritating. Thanks!

  • My wifi keeps cutting out on my 1st gen iPad since I updated to iOS 5.0... It's never done this before, any suggestions?

  • How is iOS 8.3 on the 1st gen iPad Mini?

First off, I almost never update my iOS because I'm always terrified it will make my devices sluggish. And since I can't afford to get the latest and greatest Apple upgrade whenever they release a new one it too adds to my anxiety of upgrading iOS software on my older devices.
I really couldn't find anything about how performance is on the 1st generation iPad Mini. So I'll give you my specs and preferably if someone has experience with at least the same generation and gb then let me know how the upgrade worked out for you. Especially as far as sluggishness goes. Switching apps, etc. Most likely I'll be directly upgrading to iOS 8.3 since I'm still on iOS 7.1.2.
    iPad Mini (1st generation)
    16gb, wifi only
Uses: Apps, photos, and web surfing
    Songs: 6, Videos: 1, Photos: 750, Apps: 96
    Capacity: 13.4gb
    Available: 1.1gb
    Version: 7.1.2 (11D257)
    Model: MD531LL/A

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
I also own a 1st generation iPad Mini and i'll admit iOS 8 doesn't feel as "snappy" as it did with iOS 7. That being said I think it works fine with 8.3 and there has been some major improvements since the first version of iOS 8.

  • HT201335 Is there a technical reason why the first gen iPad will not mirror?

I have a first gen iPad running 5.1.1
I had 5.1 and that did not work either.
A new 2012 apple tv and no go on the mirroring. My iPhone 4a mirrors. Why can't the first gen iPad

I never thought of my iPad as slow
I couldn't tell you off the top of my head.
Yes iPad 1 still seems good for me too, but the 3rd gen is noticeably smoother in use.
Absolute specs are really irrelevant - Apple have not allowed the iPad 1 to mirror and that's that - pretty much like older Macs pre 2011 not being able to do so due to lack of a CPU feature.

  • HT4623 Using a first gen iPad with iOS 5.1.1; why does it say my software is up to date when I try to update?

Using a first gen iPad with iOS 5.1.1; why does it say my software is up to date when I try to update?

Because the device isn't capable of running iOS 6 and newer.

  • Will the first generation iPad have multi gestures in iOS 5

This was in the beta for 4.3 on the first gen but then removed.
It didn't reappear in the beta for ios 5, which isn't a good sign but the page on apple.com doesn't say it will or won't.
Any ideas? I quite liked the idea of them would be a shame to loose them.

You'll find out when iOS 5 is released and you install it.

  • HT4623 Why doesn't my iPad recognize an update to iOS 7?  When I try to update, it says, "iOS 5.1.1   Your software is up to date."

Why doesn't my iPad recognize an update to iOS 7?  When I try to update, it says, "iOS 5.1.1   Your software is up to date."

Because you have a 1st generation iPad and iOS 5.1.1 is the last update for it.
It will not get any further iOS updates beyond 5.1.1
iOS 7 requires at least an iPad 2

  • I have ipad mini 2 updated to ios 7.1.2.  Now ipad keeps shutting down and rebooting to the apple logo. I factory reset and redownloaded software in recovery mode.  Still happening.  What else can I do?

I have ipad mini 32gb.  I updated to IOS 7.1.2. Since then ipad keeps shutting down and rebooting to the apple logo.  It happens so many times I cannot use the ipad.   I have tried factory reset and reinstalled software in recovery mode. Ipad is only 1 1/2 years old and in great condition.  Is there anything else I can do besides soend $200 to fix it?

Sounds like a hardware issue to me going by the CRC error you mentioned. I'd make a Genius Bar reservation (you'll need your Apple ID) if you have a nearby Apple Store and get it evaluated. The evaluation is free but repair/replacement could incur other charges.

  • HT4972 Can the first generation iPad upload to iOS 5?

Could the first generation of the iPad upgrade to iOS 5 and still have all the apps because I got some of the apps on a special deal but in order to download this other app it needs iOS 5 and I want to keep the rest of the apps I have or else I'll have to start all over.......

Yes. The iPad 1 can go to 5.1.1.

  • Why is there no more update of software for the first gen ipad ?

why have they stoped anymore updates...
common...why do we have to stay with old updates..the new apps being updated demand ios 6..and anyways there are not many useful apps for ipad1..why do we suffer..:(..plz plz plz...update it...\

Unfortunately, that's what happens with technology. At some point it becomes uneconomical to continue supporting.
Be thankful you bought an iPad though, which Apple has supported with updates for at least a couple of years.
If you had bought an Android tablet it likely would never receive any updates, and would forever be stuck on whatever version if Android it came with, or it would've stopped getting updates in a matter of months.
